If they didnt allow blood splatter on the face, just the body I wouldnt have a problem with it. It just seems absurd that, you know, you wouldnt wipe the copius amount of blood off your face after battle. Handkerchief/rag/sleeve anyone?

This post is disturbing, yet impresses me greatly. You must be a favorite at cocktail parties.
It depends on the co--no, no, I'll be ladylike, I won't say it.
Well, I have it on good authority that SOME people find me entertaining--in a weird kind of way. It's like a car accident. You just can't look away.

Personally I dont mind a toggle being added for those that want to live in a pristine world i wouldnt use it but hey thats just me..
I also wonder how many of you have seen the mess thats created from an atereal wound first hand its horrendous!! and it gets everywhere grrrr I had the misfortune of getting a small cut on my leg and it was like a high pressure jet spray blood soaked the carpets covered the walls as I legged it to the first aid cabinet I couldnt believe how much gore was made from such a small wound and to top it off contary to popular Dragon Age belief my dog was absolutley useless at cleaning it up although he has forever looked at me as if I was next on the menu since then

Though I understand why people would like a toggle I found myself laughing at this thread with all the things we want to see in the game something so small can be such a large concern heh,
Indeed, I thought the blood spray in Dragon Age: Origins was hideous. Assume that they added a toggle because someone at BioWare agrees, but perhaps it was just because there are nations where you can't show that amount of blood anyway.

This. A lot of countries get pretty worked up about it. I understand australia is pretty bad.Maria Caliban wrote...

You don't see as much of that here in the UK as you used to. The tabloids used to hop up and down. Carmaggedon was all but banned iirc, they had to have zombies in the place of people to coat your bumper with.

Yea, but did you wipe the blood off yourself once you got patched up? Or just walk around like that for a few hours/days?

Amulet of Blood Repellent
Vamriell Bloodletter was so tired of getting her new dress drenched in blood every time a bandit tried to attack her on the road she had this amulet made from binding elfroot and demons blood between two plates of silverite. It is said that the wearer of this amulet will not be blemished by a single drop of blood, but is advised to still bathe regularly as it doesn't prevent dirt, grime, and sweat from covering the person wearing the amulet
*edit* Varric will probably call dibbs on it though. *end edit*

It's all about the climax of killing. Or at least such would be the psychoanalytic take.

Yeah, I hated the blood splatter in Origins. It's just plain weird to have people holding perfectly normal conversation while they're covered in blood. Isn't it kinda of instinctive to wipe stuff off your face? Especially if said stuff is darkspawn blood that is supposedly posionous?
There was a hilarious webcoming I can't find now that had rabbit (er... the old forum name for dog, who is legend) lick the blood of our Warden, with predictable results.

It's in. It's called "Persistent Gore," but that's only because we let the editors write some of the options and they like to use big words when they get a chance to not be editors.

I could have swore they said they where cutting down on the amount of blood splatter?
It's applied differently. A character who does a lot of killing, or a lot of critical strikes will have more blood on them than a character who is involved in a fight, but doesn't tend to get the killing blows.
As a dual-dagger rogue, Isabela tends to get reasonably messy, especially in long fights. It fades down quite quickly, though. If I remember rightly, faster than it did in Origins.
And, thanks to some careful work by the art team, we've managed to nigh-eliminate gore around mouths and eyes. Some of the origins "spatter patterns" were a little disconcertingly close to a character's lips.

Thank you muchly.
And 'Persistent Gore Toggle' sounds much more impressive than 'Blood Splatter Toggle.'
