He is a pretty good NPC, but isn't he basically like a naughtier more magical version of Alistair?

Umm yes.  Whats your point?

They did hint at the end of awakening that Anders met up with a pirate woman....

Or, it could be someone in his family. Someone who didn't get shipped off to the circle.

If it isn't Anders, is there any reason a dev couldn't just confirm it and say "no".

Too easy, methinks. When's the last time they've given anything away without boiling us first?

Sure, he might be. That's not him though.

How do you know?

I seem to recall someone from Bioware saying  Origins/Awakening characters that re-appear, aside from those promoted from minor-to-major status (like Isabela) would look very similar to the extent that you might double take, but ultimately recognize them.

Based on that standard, I cannot dismiss the possibility that that guy is Anders.

Did anyone else notice that MEG is there. Along with Aveline and Isabela. So doesn't that all but confirm he is a companion? I think they all are companions. Even the Anders looking guy.

Alistair is not even a mage.
I dont think its Anders either. Or it is just early in the game but why is he in kirkwall? Templars could have captured him really but they would not have brought him all the way to kirkwall unless they were tired of Anders escaping from the circle all the time and maybe there is some kind of mage prison there. I dont know, I guess we have to wait and see.

There are nine characters on the photo and they all look playable. They also look very very bland... Where's the Qunari? Where's the dog/dragonling/giant spider? Where's my bloody golem???

After studying the pic intently for a long amount of time, I can say with certainty that this man is not Anders. His cheekbones are too high, and when you zoom in on his face, you'll notice that he neither has pierced ears nor a ponytail. Sure, you could argue that it might be before he got them, but what are the chances of that?

one of the devs or whatever on this forum has stated that not all of them are companions.

Yes, well Isabela looks nothing like she did in origins too. With that new art direction they are taking I wouldnt be surprised if we saw some companion cameos from origins and wouldnt recognize them by their face.

@ pChar: True, but looking at the old and new Isabella, I do notice small similarites between them. However, I see none of these characteristics present between Anders and the man in the video. You may belive what you wish, but I do not think that is Anders. Now watch someone from Bioware appear and prove me wrong.

Steven Valentine who is the VO for Alistair confirmed  that he has done work for DA2 and Alistair will make a cameo or possibly be a companion.   I think it will depend on a player's choice at the end of Origins if you will see him in your game or not.  Alistair does have an interest in magic and if you've read the books, there is the possibility that Fiona is Alistair's mother.  She was a Grey Warden, elf, and mage.   Alistair is also a trained Templar so he could have gone to Kirkwall which has a strong Templar holding and the city is influenced strongly by Templars.  He could be there as King for diplomatic reasons, or as drunk Alistair.

Anders did leave Vigil's Keep for two months then he returned, if you didn't get him turned over to the templars in DAA he could also make an appearance as a cameo or a possibly short term companion.

In honesty, I couldn't believe that was Isabela from the Pearl.  I couldn't believe the change with the new engine that they buildt.  Which means any former companions that we had and if we see them again in DA2 they are not going to look the same.  MEG could also be Zevran.  Nobody really knows at this point.  Everyone has their opinion and that is fine.

Ugh, the image don't appear here. Anyway, it would be cool to see Anders in DA II. But I prefer Nate, myself.

I've read a forum a while back about a possibility of old companions returning in DA2 where Gaider replied that if they like a character to return despite the outcome of Origins then they would simply do it, so I'm guessing it wouldn't matter what happens to Anders in Awakening; I would like it alot if he did return, his story shouldn't end there.

Hopefully whenever new information is revealed we find out whether or not this is Anders. The resemblance is hard to ignore; I'm hoping it is him :)

But Isabella looks a whole different in DA2 also - so does Merrill, they have changed everyone's appearance this time around....

I'm sure I saw someone mention this image before, and one of the devs said something like 'not everyone on this pic is who you think'. I think the person who started it was talking about permanent companions, but still. If it is Anders, maybe that means he's a temporary companion or has a cameo. That'd be cute, though I'm not sure why he'd be in the Free Marches.

They always say crap like that to throw people off.

Who cares about Anders, I wanna know how much Nathaniel we're going to get, and where he might have gotten that "Worn Golden Ring" he wears.  Posted Image

Lol, at least Nathaniel seems to be a certainty. Everyone seems very caught up in wondering whether Anders is returning, but I always thought Nathaniel was the favourite of the pair. Hmm.

Although I certainly wouldn't be upset if it was him.

Well if they decide to make character comebacks from DAO it can't really matter on the outcome in Origins, because that outcome will be different depending on players choices.

If they should bring Alistair back as a companion in DA2 (which seems highly unlikely to me) they have to do it for all players. They can't take away a companion for those who had him executed in DAO or made him King of Ferelden. If they bring Alistair back they have to throw all those events and choices in the trash and ignore them, and that, imo, is an idiotic thing to do.
