OH GOD!! then is the first contact war!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

hey wait, did the Turians invaded earth in this war? somebody please tell me that yes

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but NO, the Turians did NOT attack Earth. They only briefly occupied a distant colony with a Chinese name that I have forgotten.

The Earth based setting of whatever this is practically guarantees it has nothing to do with first contact war. Earth has never been invaded in any ME history we're aware of, nor has any civiil war broken out., This implies it is Post ME2, assuming it is MEverse (pre ME is possible but unlikely given the Incisor rifle).

I don't fully agree, but I'll go with your answer because this makes things less complicated :D

Just checked it myself!

The fence is identical to the fence in front of the courtyard of the Hauses of Parliament in London, UK.
*snip*

Look at the top of the fence. every other one is a triple spike, while the rest of them are single spikes with satrange, siccle looking bits on them.
Check with Google Streetview if you don't believe me.
I'm gonna repeat what I said a couple of days ago in the other thread: I think the sniper is sitting in the ol' clock of Big Ben.

Nope, not the First Contact War. Turians never invaded Earth.
Also, as has been said before, the First contact war had minor losses, lasted for only three months and consisted of a couple of space skirmishes and a single siege/capture of Shanxi. Would be one helluva lame game. And the settlers of Shanxi probably weren't too big on Victorian era cast-iron metalwork for their fences.

Reaper Attack or power struggles on Earth seem far more likely.

As much as I want it to be post ME2, I want to remind that codex has no information when Incisor Rifle was manufactured, all we know is that Cerberus requested it to be delivered to Normandy.

For example M-97 Viper is similar in look to Volkov Sniper Rifle, and both of them were produced by Rosenkov Materials. I might be wrong but I think codex say that after Battle at Citadel weapons were changed to use termo-clips in order to meat new standards. Thus it is possible that Incisor Rifle was existing before ME2 but was also repurposed to use termo-clips.

I'm thinking, everyone here knows that in mass effect 3 will be about shepard kicking the a** of the reapers, (or get his a** kicked by them). So there will be a war, and we know that this isn't about a prequel, turians did't invade earth, then this game MAYBE is about the war against the reapers (in ME3) but trought the eyes of another soldier.

What do you think?

still could be a Shattered Steel remake w/ multiplayer. the first leaks were related to iron and cold. this image shows an image of destoyed buildings and shttered steel is one of the first games with destuctible environments. (according to wiki)

It has been suggested by fellow forumites that the bridge that the sniper is looking at is the Westminster bridge. The fence appears to be identical to the one from the Houses of Parliament, too.

Using Google Earth, I took a screenshot to see what the view of the sniper would be if he was on the Big Ben Tower. Looks like a match to me.

Unfortunately, that isn't as easy to see, since we only see a tiny snip of it in the Sniper picture. What makes me think that it might be Big Ben is that the texture of the bars seems like it's cast-iron and the glass shard look milky white, both of which would fit with Big Ben, but probably also with a lot of other old buildings in London. However, to me it doesn't fit to the SIS-Building at Vauxhall bridge, because I would think they'd use more of a steel structure, which should look different texture-wise.
Also, just imagine the shot in the teaser when the camera zooms out to reveal the sniper in the clockwork. But I know coolness isn't proof. ;)

You have to keep in mind that the clock is roughly 8 metres (26 feet) tall so if it were Big Ben in the sniper pictures, we'd only see a tiny part of it. But it could be something on the lower rim of the clock's face between 6 and 7 o'clock, especially since the minute-hand might easily be the frontmost bar in the picture. But I'll admit that I#m grasping here.

Oh and I did take the shot from the centre of the clock. It pretty much confirms Shinannigan's theory.

He probably just wants to take a closer look.

lol, no. He's either trying to simply look closer or trying to protect them from something.

Well we know that multiple locations will be included in the trailer. Maybe they will reveal the new characters ?

So what do we have so far?
- Atomic mass of Fe (Iron)
- Lowest temp on Earth detected on Vostok station
- Link to GB Secrete Service
- Red Herring (wtf?)

- A teaser with a bleeding guy
- He has futuristic armor
- He has sniper rifle similar to Incisor Rifle
- He looks at something that similar to bridge (or loan)

- There are ruins of some location
- There are civilian survivors running
- The cloth of civilians is similar to civilian cloth in ME
- The scope view of sniper rifle is same as in ME
- The fence is similar to the one at parliament in London

Did I miss anything?

Well I think that we have narrowed down the location:

I believe you missed The Clash album cover. Album called the singles.  ( hope I remember that right )
Which made me believe the new game would be Rock Band Mass Effect.  Or maybe Dance , Dance  Mass Effect. In DDME you would play as Shepard trying to work on his / her dance skills. For easy access and streamling no dance pad will be needed. Just smack your controler or keyboard once and a while.

It's probably a new IP. Not a Mass Effect game.

I know there's tons of evidence that states otherwise but still... I get the feeling it's too good to be true. But perhaps that's just the pessimist in me.
