You using the import facility in the ME2 configuration utility, or just copying the saved games from one folder to another?

Never mind. I got it working. I did not know that you had to launch the configure utility and load it from there first. Thanks

I tried doing it through the configure utility in ME2, I used the directions telling me the default save game location was ...my documents\\bioware\\masseffect\\save. Did what I was told and booted up Me2 clicked new game and still got can't find ME1 files when I tried to import. I played through ME1 4 times so I know I have the saves. Then I tried to physically copy me1 from me1 folder to me2 folder, still get same message cant find me1 save games, it told me if none of above worked I could get detailed info.on how to import in the Mass effect forums. So here I am asking for help. BTW I played all 3 ME games several times but have just recently played ME1 and have a level 56 Shepard. correct me if im wrong does genesis allow you to import Shepard with his level, because I watched the genesis with the questions and made a new charactor last night but if I can import my player and level I would like to get it to work. thanks you, for any help offered.

Genesis is not part of a normal ME-1 to ME-2 progression. It's for people who skipped ME-1.

You chose an excessively old and dead thread. Anything past six months is too old. If you cannot add comments to message threads that have been active in the immediate six months, you need to refer to Pacifien's guide to reporting, and start your own problem thread. Thank you.

Let's try two things. First, again with the config utility:
-Open ME2 Config and navigate to Save Games and Click Copy Save Games.
-In the dialogue navigate to your save folder for ME1. Should be Documents\\Mass Effect\\Save
-Click Ok, and you should have it there. Otherwise....

Manually:
-In Explorer, navigate to Documents\\Mass Effect 2\\Save. Check for a subfolder marked 'ME1'. If the folder doesn't exist, create one.
-In a second instance of explorer, navigate to Documents\\Mass Effect\\Save. Look for a file that looks like this:
Char_01-60-2-1-5-3-12-2011-31-38.MassEffectSave
-Copy this file into your Documents\\Mass Effect 2\\Save\\ME1 folder and you should be good to go.

If you can't locate the Char_01-60-2-1-5-3-12-2011-31-38.MassEffectSave in the Documents\\Mass Effect\\Save folder, you may need to reload a previous save and finish ME1 again.

Good luck.

Thanks Sojourner83 for the info. I played another game through I did the manuel you suggested and when I started ME2 all my ME1 saves were there.
Thanks again, I learned something.
