Hmm... BW Montreal makes the MP and uhh.. normal BioWare makes the main game?

No issues. As long as nothing i sacrificed from the single player for the MP.

**** EA and their "every game must have online component".

The only "strictly" single-player game that had MP and still offered a beyond-awesome singe player experience I can think of is Red Dead Redemption. Other than that, I'm not so sure...

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood did it pretty well, just like the Splinter Cell games. So, it is possible.

COD2's multiplayer was lots of fun, as was its campaign.

I hope it isn't true, I don't want multiplayer in my singleplayer games, and I don't want anyone to mess with the story of my Shepard.

My first post, so congratulate me...

I think it goes without saying that people's opinions are kinda divided. Okay, I get the idea and understand why some people do like MP, but for me, ME (both of 'em) has been such an emotional and personal experience that doesn't compare to anything I've played before and only because it's single player. I don't think MP is going to do anything emotion-wise.

I'd like to add that having MP doesn't automatically make single player bad.

If the MP is separate from the SP, as it is about 100% of time, there ain't even canon issues etc. If you don't like it, don't play MP.

If you don't bother even buying the game just because it has MP... moron.

Hard to believe this is your first post, considering your sign up date. :D

Anyway, that's true, and it's our main concern here. ME3 is totally not the game for MP.

It took even longer for me to post m first :P And agreed, The main Mass Effect series have been the story of your Shepard, I'm not against multiplayer in the Mass Effect world as long as it is it's own game.

I'm absolutely stoked to hear that multiplayer is a possibility!  For those who don't like it, don't play it!  For the rest of us we have the potential to play this amazing game with friends.  I'm hoping for both team versus and co-op.  I've always wanted a co-op to replace the AI teammates.  I like them and their stories but I never found them to be particularly useful on Insanity.  I generally find them dead or dying while I'm kicking butt.  Bringing a friend into the mix would be awesome.

As for team versus, I'd love to zip around the map as a Vanguard and shotty people in the face or throw people off ledges.  So much more satisfying than doing the same to AI.

How does having MP mess with the story? /facepalm.
If resources are sacrificed for the MP, maybe then BUT i doubt BW would make that mistake. If they did, that'd be simply... stupid and unprofessinal (?).

Frankly i'm more worried about how good is this hypothetical multiplayer than its effects to the story and single player gameplay... How is it done? Is it simply COD/Halo but from third person? SP mechanics in MP?

yeah since MP is a fully separate thing in a game, not integrated or anything like that

When the whole universe knows thy screwed the franchise you still got an EA fanboy claiming the oposite

Can we get a single player game series that stays that way? Any time multiplayer is in a game, the story gets sacrificed for it. You can never do both well.

If I want to shoot people online, BioWare, I will play CoD, or Halo. I play Mass Effect for the story.

^ Amen! Mass Effect 2 is one of the highest acclaimed games in years. Why? No MP, there is no point to add it into a game that has all been about your story, your decisions and how you want to play. What does that say when you add someone else to it ?

I'm pretty sure it seems that bioware Montreal has been working on the MP aspect of the game for quite some time, I don't think it will touch the SP aspect of it. It could work, but the main mission better be at least 30+ hours.

So the MP rumor is creating a ****storm already it seems. I'm not one to sign on with Doomsayer bandwagon, but I find it hard to believe that the single player experience will remain uncompromised, let alone reinforced in any way, should this be true.

I hope it's not true, but given the recent comments by the EA brass, I'm going to to wager my chips on the inclusion of multiplayer.

I think when you look at New Vegas shifting 5million units since release, the "u need multyplayerz dawg" argument loses more ground than than the French in WWII. There is still a huge demand for top-quality single player experiences.

Multiplayer in itself does not have to affect the story or singleplayer game, but I have a hard tie seeing the main buld from the games so far work in multiplayer, going to talk with people and see who talks with the most first? sure, they might do a pure action multiplayer part, but that takes everything fun away from it. And adding multiplayer does take resources, even though it's probably resourced added to the game to do multiplayer. Everyone is free to their opinion though, and mine is that I don't want multiplayer in my singleplayer RPGs (and most of all no coop in the main game).

I hope it's true.

What do you think a multiplayer part should look like?

I think a good idea is that you can play coop with friends (the AI comrades).

The only good MP was Counter Strike, nothing else. All weak attempts to gain it's popularity level are just silly. Eh, where did good old games go? Why year 2000 come so yearly? :(

I'm slightly worried (not as much as other's, it seems).

I'm not totally against MP in games, but usually I don't go for it. So, as long as this MP is independent of the SP, and, the SP doesn't suffer from it: I'll be fine.

I'm normally against the "Community" that follows big-name MP games. Don't get me wrong, not all of those people all like "that"--hell, MOST of them aren't--but the homophobic, racist, foul-mouthed, immature, and tasteless people that ARE in that community, ruin the image of everyone else.

Just play a match of COD: you'll know what I mean in about five seconds. Those dudes are so loquaciously stupid they think the word "loquacious" is a surfer term.

I guess wait for dead space 2? If that franchise can handle MP then maybe ME can too. I just don't want the story to suffer... Such as a lower budget for voice talent.
