As for the multiplayer part.........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! In my opinion.

What he said. I would love to have a multiplayer game, but I'd rather it be a sepatrate release from ME3. There is no real way to have the deapth of a singleplayer game. Does anyone remember multi player in the original Neverwinter Nights? It was chaos!!! Who had talked to which NPC when? Who has the Stone of Recall? Oh, the person who was just sent back to the temple for healing, LEAVING THE REST OF US TO DIE!!! Which wasn't their fault really, but was still damn annoying.
So in  a game with you and two friends, who plays Shepard? Is everyone Shepard? Does only one Shepard get to talk to the NPC? Does only the Shepard get to spend money at stores, or does everyone get to?
See the potentail problems? I'll be second in line to pre-order a ME muliplayer, but NOT for the conclusion of the Shepard story arc.

Co-op in the single player story wouldn't work. If you had a separated watered down class system for the multiplayer that could work - as long as you don't see a hundred little Shepards running around in N7 armor.

Only concern is multiplayer development would take time and money away from the single player campaign which is (or maybe was) promising to be something epic with thousands of ways Shepard's story can end.

Bioware has been involved in an MMO that does involve multiplayer dialogue. They might be able to do something really interesting with a traditional RPG game by adding MP. I just wish they would do it with a fresh series.

I'm sure more than half of us aren't actually against multiplayer in itself, but rather against the idea of including it in ME3.

This whole MP thing is a ticking time bomb when it comes to forum/nerd/fan rage.

I can only compare it to three other things I've seen...

First-- when the final box art for ME2 was unveiled on the old forums

Second-- when we were told on the old forums (incorrectly, I might add!) that we could "only" transfer over our first 11 saves. (this one was especially crazy because, in that same post, they had announced ME2 would have New Game+, something that the forums had raved about needing for months)

And third-- the most strange of them all: the day it was revealed that old L.I. weren't going to be in ME2 (Imma gonna cancel my preorder... BWAAAAA)

This could rival those... Fear it, nonbeliever...

Personally for me if multiplayer is included the game would go from a day one purchase to being added to my rental queue. I'd then buy it at a later time when the price had greatly dropped.

I'm actually quite excited about a spin-off shooter for the series but adding it to Shepard's trilogy would be a big put off for me.

People do seem to be focusing on the shooting as well with wanting co-op. Well what are the two people playing with you going to be doing when you are talking for ages on a planet or wandering around the Normandy talking to the crew?

just wanted to clarify my stance, hell, I enjoy matches in SC2 regulary, tat don't mean I want it in all games.

I'm absolutely stoked to hear that multiplayer is a possibility!  For those who don't like it, don't play it!  For the rest of us we have the potential to play this amazing game with friends.  I'm hoping for both team versus and co-op.  I've always wanted a co-op to replace the AI teammates.  I like them and their stories but I never found them to be particularly useful on Insanity.  I generally find them dead or dying while I'm kicking butt.  Bringing a friend into the mix would be awesome.

As for team versus, I'd love to zip around the map as a Vanguard and shotty people in the face or throw people off ledges.  So much more satisfying than doing the same to AI.

This is the exact thinking I would expect from people who are excited about this rumored "tacked" on multiplayer.  "I just want to shoot people in the face!"  PWNZ0rZ!!!!!!

Multiplayer for Mass Effect 3 no matter if it's pvp or cooperative is a disaster waiting to happen.  Remember kids, Mass Effect wouldn't be the game it is today if it wasn't for the truely immersive single player experience introduced in Mass Effect 1.

Tacking on multiplayer this late and for the final game of an epic storytelling trilogy in which you're able to import your own character throughout is hardly intuitive; it's called being a sellout towards the actual fans and heeding everything EA says just for that fat greedy paycheck.

'Nuff said.

I dont understand this reaction against multiplayer. If you don't like it, don't ****ing play it. Its really just that simple. Adding in multiplayer pleases the people that DO want it, and those that don't just simply dont have to play it. Sometimes it just not always about making the bioware forums happy, its about making as many people as possible happy.

More happy people = more money for them = better games for us in the future. Stop crying about it.

For one, I have a hard time believing it will add much for the core fans (though I could be wrong, I doubt it). And two, I always have a hard time to take people that resorts to swearing serious in what they say/write.

I'd forgotten about Red Dead Redemption, I havn't played it but I gather it's SP didn't suffer for having a MP option? If Bioware could pull something similar off (say by utilizing another studio for the MP gameplay) then it could work really well, but their finishing Shepard's story is the most important thing for me.

Ya, BioWare doesn't care that much about the 'core fans' . They make up about 5% of their fan base. The rest is the people that don't spam the BioWare forums and play other games. Most of them play games online. Its only natural for a game to add in a multiplayer component to attract a larger fan base.

I think RDR is one of the very few examples where the single player didn't seem to suffer from the MP in the slightest sense. I've played it.

I would like to see where the number 10% for people that prefer ME a singleplayer game comes from...

Uncharted 2 was also a good one. Great SP and MP, until that stupid patch in February ruined everything.

i hope the announcement is true, concerning the ME3 part. with the multiplayer, however, i'm kind of iffy on that.. i wouldn't HATE multiplayer, but i do think it would take away from the experience a little bit. With that being said, i think if any one will do multyplayer right it'll be BioWare.

we really can't say anything until tomorrow tho lol

There are no words to describe how goddamn stupid putting multiplayer into the story campaign would be.

If it's just a multiplayer mode on top of the single-player campaign, that's fine with me. I don't think I'd ever use it, but whatever.

What you're typing in both of those posts are some of the most silly statements I have ever heard regarding Mass Effect and the actual fanbase.

It's clear to me and to others as well I am certain, that you are no different from the people who are just looking for that next latest and greatest mindless shooting game to please your 1.5 second length of patience threshold.  I can tell this simply from your first sentence in which you just have to resort to swearing to make your non-existent point even visible, and then to top it off, you end everything with "Stop crying" when no one is even crying about anything; we're making valid points something of which you have no clue about.

The forums make up the absolute minority in any gaming community, you're correct in implying that.  However you are incorrect in saying that the percentage of "core fans" are only "about 5%" of which want Mass Effect single player only.  Way to pull a percentage out of your rear and completely butcher the facts.  The core fanbase is the fanbase that knows a truely amazing and immersive single player storytelling experience when they see and play one.  That is the majority of the true Mass Effect fanbase.

Fact, /end of story.
