I'm no stranger to computers but I've found myself completely smashed by the installation of Dragon Age Origins' Toolset.
I've installed, uninstalled, sought for help, read forums and all the other for hours and hours but without success. I just can't get it working.
The problem I'm having is - surprise surprise - "Unable to connect to Database".
My main source of help has been http://social.biowar...to_the_database but I have found no true help there.
If you allow me, I'd like to ask some questions I've wondering about the wiki entry.
1) Wiki: Did the database get restored? [...] "Browse to this location (C:\\Program Files\\DAODB\\) and look for the existence of the following two files: bw_dragonage_content.ldf and bw_dragonage_content.mdf"
Me: Where there? There are numerous subfolders in DAODB. Now, I should point out that I found the two files in question but in a totally different location. But the problem is present: WHERE should I put them? The wiki does no effort to tell where the files should be besides DAODB.
2) Wiki: Is the Toolset correctly pointing to database?
Me: This whole section didn't make a bit of sense to me. I trust that the game can find the correct database paths since I have installed the game, the Toolset and SQL in their default locations with default settings.
I repeat, I have done everything "default". Nothing extra, nothing left out. But I still get the same error. No matter what I do, the program fails to find the database.
I did give a shot for Full Manual Install but it was just so crazy that I barely made it through and it did nothing to help my problem.
I understand most don't have these problems? There must be something I'm doing very very wrong but in general I'm feeling that this is getting to be way too much trouble for an editor, even though I'm most eager to try it out.
ANY HELP APPRECIATED. I have nothing to lose.
How does one install the Toolset?

It is quite long ago, but the restore-thing I did by decreasing the secuirity for a folder in C in windows and put it there, then proceeded to do the restoring.
Vague description, but my memore from the same frustrating process does not fare well here.

Thanks but I must say it's of little help.
P.S. For the info, I am using Windows 7 (64-bit) and the Toolset I'm trying to install is the latest version (1.01)
EDIT: I have placed two files now in Program Files (x64)/DAODB/Data: bw_dragonage_content.mdf (672mb in size) and bw_dragonage_content.ldf (82.4mb in size). Didn't solve the problem but does it sound like that they are in their right places? The .ldf used to be named "bw_dragonage_content_log" but I removed the _log since it is absent in the file names provided in the wiki.

The first thing you can try and do is download and install the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and see if you are able to connect and open the database using that.
If you can open the database but don't see any tables, etc, you will have to attach the mdf and ldf files that you've placed in the Program Files (x86) path to the database (google that and you should have examples on the MSDN forums). Placing files there will not automatically attach it to the database.
After that, you have to make sure that the Toolset is started using the 'Run as Administrator' command. I don't recall if the toolset installer is in .msi format; if not, uninstall and re-install by running the installer as Administrator.
Sometimes, the folder where the mdf/ldf files are won't have enough privileges for the SQL Server (typically happens once you move the files elsewhere). If so, you can manually give Full Control permissions on those folders to the SQL Server userids - there should be three IDs on your computer with SQL somewhere in them (search with an empty string for the users on your computer in the permission window)

I am able to connect to the database using SQLSMS. When browsing the database bw_dragonage_toolset, I see folders Databse Diagrams, Tables, Views, Synonyms, Programmability and security. Most of them have various files in them.
I am running the program as administrator and did run the installer as well as administrator.
I believe I have allowed all permissions for DAODB folder, MSSQL folder and DA:O Toolset folders. I did this through folder "properties -> security -> advanced" and gave full rights to all the candidates in the list.
By the way I am using Microsoft Security Essentials as my firewall. Could it cause a problem?

I truly do not understand all that database stuff. Isn't there some kind of video/picture tutorial?

After installing the Toolset I had the same problem. I searched the wiki as well as the forum a bit for a solution, without success. However, I got it running now, by doing something I found not mentioned anywere, so I thought I write it down. Perhaps it is of use to Hallusinaatti or someone else looking for help.
The Files in question go into the DAODB/Data folder.
Start the Toolset configuration. In the second screen saying "Databases", uncheck dafault databases and click on the (...). At the top of the following screen under Servernames it should read ".\\BWDATOOLSET". If that is the case, click on the button "Check Connection" at the bottom of the screen. After a couple of seconds a pop-up window should appear, telling you to the connection is fine (If you get an error message, I advise a reinstall).
Now, in the window under 3. there are two options of wich one has to be selected. The dafault is the top one with the drop down menu, the field reads "bw_dragonage_content". But if you open the pull-down menu, that content will not appear, meaning the database has not been found.
You have to link to the right file manually. Check the second option (should read something like "Add Database file as Database name" - translating from german here). Click on the (...) to the right of the lower field and select the file "bw_dragonage_content"in the DAODB/Data folder. That should do it, at least it did for me.
