Considering the sheer number of humans left on Earth, it would mean a severe cut in human population. Not only that, but it's still humanity's core, even after they spread out to other colonies. In ME2, when they say the Collectors were going to go for Earth, the mere thought of that (plus the strategic musical cue) was pretty horrifying. Seeing a Reaper fleet heading directly towards us would feel much of the same, I wager. I see this as neither dull nor dumb.

It may be humanity's core, but there's trillions of other citizens from all the other species in the galaxy.  Earth falling does nothing for or against them.  This is Bioware falling into that typical Sci-Fi trope that humanity is the all powerful, all important beings in the galaxy (which completely negates all the progress they made with ME1, where humanity felt small compared to the council races).

Remeber that Shepard and the player (hopefully) are human. Earth has meaning to them, even if it sucks. (Earthborn.) I doubt that BioWare will make every alien fawn over humans just because Earth falls. I can see a certain person calling the destruction, winning bets, then denying that he hates humans...

They said the earth was burning not destroyed so if I get to go to an Earth with missiles being rained on it then later in game go back to a charred up mess I'm happy with that it'd be like fallout kind of. But I will tell BW now I want to see proper emotional reactions from Shep both M and F and also with background I can image Earth born shep might be like, “ Good let it burn.” But the other two sheps might not feel the same way. Just for all those itching to kick me I don’t mean total melt down emo but honestly your homeworlds burning and being attacked you can’t just be all ice cold ya’know.

After seeing all the teasers, why do I get the feeling that the destruction of Earth will only just be the beginning of ME3?

Other than that, I'm excited!!! :D

Unless you're playing Renegade, in which case humanity pretty much dominates the galaxy.

Shepard's human and the Reapers have already attacked human colonies. It's obvious they were going to threaten Earth at some point.

Sounds dull. I was trying to keep spoiler free with ME3, but I most definetely am not watching any videos or looking at any screenshots, and previews will be avoided completely. A game description isn't that bad though, the worst thing though is how predictable the story sounds, and you could also consider it to be a similar summary of ME2's story. Come on Bioware, we want chaos!

Well being that you don't even have any games registered you probably didn't even pay for Mass Effect 2 to begin with so you're hardly in any position to complain.

you have to be a troll.

To me Mass Effect was always about humanity finding their place in the galaxy so I don't mind Mass Effect 3 being centered around humanity.
The Salarians, Turians, Asari, Krogan etc. have been around for thousands of years and their stories have been told. Now it's humanity's turn to make their mark on the galaxy.

The Krogan saved the galaxy from the Rachni, the Turians and Salarians saved the galaxy from the Krogan and now it's humanity's turn to save the galaxy from the Reapers.

I don't mind humanity being the heroes or defending themselves. I mind the incredibly stupid reasons why the Reapers are targeting humanity and why we're more eligible to become one of them. The argument for our superior genetic diversity was simply lazy and uninformed.

I know they couldn't have continued that plot any other way, they've already said these things and can't take them back, but it still frustrates me.

It's a bit sad EA did this... this ruins the whole surprise for tomorrow, the event that BW has been slowly leading up to with all their hints, all that anticipation, gone now because of EA's blunder... I bet BW is pissed and disappointed that their big reveal for tomorrow is no more, and has become a confirmation...

makes me a little sad too... watching the trailer for tomorrow and learning, seeing through that the Earth was in trouble would have left me in awe... "what!? this is incredible!" and made me jump out of my seat.... much better than reading it on some online store... stupid EA

I hope the actually story wont be as bland as the description. We will just have to wait and see tomorrow.

And is anyone else a little nervous that news of Mass Effect 3 came out so soon, I really hope Bioware doesn't halfass ME3 just so EA can get a new game on the shelves.

I just hope they don't go down ME2's path again, where the focus was all "humans in danger, earth in danger, collector's attacking humans, come on everyone else why don't you care that humans are being attacked?"

Also, if the game is going to play like Dragon Age like that description said it will, I at the very least want to see the Asari and Turian homeworlds....way more than I want to see the 1000000th game depict Earth. There's infinte possibilities for Bioware to go nuts with the art if they get to make the asari homeworld or turian homeworld (with the main fleet in orbit or something).

Oh please, humanity became a Council race quicker than any other race in galactic history in 1. They were so strong that they somehow with less than HALF a century of space travel had already eclipsed races like the Batarians and were somehow able to prove a match for a Turian fleet. Humans have always been UBER OMFG SPECIAL in this series.

It was one of my biggest complaints with the ME series when ME1 was released and it remains so. 2 (and it looks like 3) was not unique in that regard.

At least it'll still be the first time you see the actual trailer. :) I know I'm still going to be excited. Like, jumping out of my chair, probably doing a little dance around my living room kind of excited.

Well, the way I see it, we all knew that when Mass Effect 1 came out, that eventually, we were going to see Earth. I also figured the reapers would attack Earth.

Humans= Big threat

Earth=Destroy=lure Shepard out of supposed hiding that he's in after Mass Effect 2

How can they be making games this fast, on top of all the dlc? It seems unreal to me, unless this news predates the actual release by a year or more.

I do like the premise of saving earth.

Dont you see Commander Shepard is the real threat to the Reapers. Sovereign failed, and Harbinger has been trying to convince the Reaper council that theres a returned from the dead Human spectre waiting in citadel space to destroy all Reapers. But alas they keep dismissing those claims.

The funny thing is, humanity isn't very diverse genetically.  We're reeeally homogenous (due to a population bottleneck circa 75000 years ago, or something like that)...  Seems pretty absurd that the other races would be even worse than us!

I must say I really liked that in ME1 we were working with other races as equals, but now we seem to be the master race in the galaxy...

But yeah... it's done now *shrugs*

They should have just got Sweden to file some charges for sex-crimes against him. That would have drawn him out.

You would have thought the Salarians would have sticked out on that front. Shepard says in ME1 that the reason humans are so pushing, aggressive, and quick is because of our short life-span, but Salarians only live for about 40 years and are supposedly the sharpest race in the Galaxy.

Oh yeah because it wasn't like we got Specter-ship faster than any other race in history by crying really loudly and DEMANDING it be given to us.

One of Liara's complaints about humanity is that they strong-arm their way into everything and intimidate the other races?

Am I the only one who remembers this?

Same here....it REALLY is an epic way to conclude the series. This is Shepards story...only fitting the Reapers would make a last ditch effort to destroy it. I'M PUMPED!
