It wouldn't have been as irked as much if they gave good reason for humans having superior genetic diversity. Varied appearances and personalities are in no way conclusive proof for something like that. Mordin sounded like an idiot making assumpsions when he went on about that.
Well, to be fair, he said that what diversity we do have had nothing to do with appearances and more to do with what's deep in the code - which is actually true in real life...
But, indeed, it's still strange that he implied that we were really diverse, when (from what I've heard from biologists in real life) we're remarkably samey for a species... What would be the odds of other intelligent alien civilisations being less diverse than us... but oh well, they've written it this way now..
