Oh come on, you'd think that if the Protheans had something to use against the Reapers they would use it themselves.

Sorry if what I'm about to say can totally be countered by whatever spoiler the product description brings (which I will NOT read nor will I read any spoiler-related response on this thread),

but I'm one of those people who thinks that Bioware is probably laughing in their chairs right now, thinking "HAHA, so you actually think we're gonna announce ME3 tomorrow?"

You know? Is it not unusual for a game that MIGHT actually take two years to release from now (who knows, I'm speculating) to be leaked into the EA store today? What if the game that will be announced tomorrow is actually some bridge game between ME2 and ME3?

IDK, for me I feel it's really early to announce ME3 WITHIN A YEAR after the release of ME2. I mean, I waited a LONG ASS time for ME2 since 2007 after I played ME1, so for BW to announce ME3 tomorrow can kind of be interpreted as BW spending less time on ME3, thus (hopefully NOT) a game SUBPAR to ME2.

My take on it. Thoughts?

They didn't have the time to use it. They obviously built Earth as a Supercomputer to give them the answer to the question how to defeat the Reapers... unfortunately, so far no result.

The protheans were nothing more than a bunch of pervs watching different species, I don't think they left any super-weapons lying around.

But if there is a super-weapon somewhere out there in the galaxy, I do want Shepard to use this quote when dealing with it.

"Men, we led those dumb bugs out to the middle of nowhere to keep 'em from gettin' their filthy claws on Earth. But, we stumbled onto somethin' they're so hot for, that they're scramblin' over each other to get it. Well, I don't care if it's God's own anti-son-of-a-**** machine, or a giant hula hoop, we're not gonna let 'em have it! What we will let 'em have is a belly full of lead, and a pool of their own blood to drown in! Am I right, Marines?"

Nope, don't think so. Evidence pointed towards ME 3 even before that "leak" from EA.

And were people really not expecting part of ME3 to involve forming an army/alliance from the various races you have encountered previously? The groundwork has been laid for that since ME1. I fully expect ME3 to be affected by decisions such as letting the Rachni live (or not), boxing Legion and winning Tali's trial. If there isn't I will be disappointed.

I thought it was pretty darn obvious that it was going to be exactly like Dragon Age Origins.

We've got some major past decisions that can come back and effect our ability to recruit the ME universe's major factions:

- Council races - the fate of the original Council could end up effecting our ability to win the loyalty of the Turians, Asari and Salarians

- Cerberus - our decision on what to do with the Collector Base could come back in the form of Cerberus support or apathy

- Terminus/Omega - Gaining Aria's trust through the Patriarch and the united gang planned assassination side quests could gain her support

- Geth - reprogramming the Heretics and preventing a war with the Quarians can effect their support

- Quarians - Keeping Tali from being exiled while retaining her loyalty and preventing a war with the Geth could effect their support

- Krogan - The unification under Clan Urdnot, coupled with a genophage cure based on Maelon's work, depending on your choices.

- Rachni - We know the Queen has pledged her support if you didn't kill her

- Shadow Broker - completing LotSB gives Shepard an inside woman to a powerful organization

The only faction I think is pretty standardly fully in support of Shepard would be the Alliance.  I can't think of anything that they'd be upset about other than saving the Collector base and handing it to TIM.

It's obviously not much of a spoiler if it's in the game's "back o' the box" descriptor.

Yeah, but it's still a kind of twist. I wouldn't have guessed the Reapers would attack Earth, and it kind of sucks they let us know from the beginning. Kind of the suicide mission thing and the collectors in M2. I mean, why do they have to tell us this and make a lesser experience out of it? Why wasn't there some kind of unveiling the collectors abducting humans more progressively instead of directly giving it as the premise. They could just have said that human colonies are disapearing and Shepard must find a way to stop this. It's like they spoiled almost the whole story with their advertising. They never told us all the twists of ME1 from the beginning. Instead of making us discover everything by exploring some planets and hearing rumours and such (à la ME1), they tell you the whole thing from the beginning, weak story-telling is you ask me.

Actually, I think Cerberus is just as safe a bet as the Alliance. No matter what Shepard does with the Collector base - if Earth is under attack Cerberus will be there to do anything in their power. And in contrast to the Alliance, their leadership BELIEVES in the Reapers. Only alternative for TIM might be to try and broker some arrangement with the Reapers, similar to what Saren tried to pull.

They already said they're not tweaking the engine between the 2 and 3 so that will save A LOT of time.

Also, they said that they won't have to worry so much about "getting everyone to the same point" by the end, in terms of story.  One of the big challenges they'd mentioned with ME2 was that by the end, everyone had to be in the same place, but in 3, they don't have to worry about that as much.  The story can split off, making writing a lot less restricted.  That may have cut down on plot writing time.

Bingo. Shortly after the Protheans studied the human life, reapers came in and desecrated everything. So, while the throngs of independent Prothean people are scattering, trying to figure out what to do....maybe elder Zakeel came up with the answer, but was saddened to discover that it was all too late.

Frantically, he carved the last  instructions into the walls of a cave buried underneath (Insert Counrty/City here), just hoping that one day, the next cycle of beings would find it, or maybe the next, or the next.

Or, scientists devoted time to instill a hidden gene within the human race that when combined with something, could POTENTIALLY, wipe out the Reapers, OR could activate a weapon. OR, maybe there was a construct, a type of weapon found that would destroy the Mass Relays. OR, there were instructions to a world left untouched by the Reaper invasion.

Remember.....the only destruction is inflicted upon the worlds on the charted routes. You really think we are only going to find rubble and death on Earth? Nah...we're finding answers.

When you see all the pods during one of the collector ship missions, one of your squadies literally says they (the collectors/reapers) are going to target Earth.

Woah my post got cut off....ok....so....why can't they have instilled something on Earth?

After the Protheans had studied the humans, the Reapers invaded. So, again, not enough time. However there are some possibilites:

Scientists from around the Earth....Prothean....etched the final instructions that lead to an untouched world, constructed a mega weapon within earth that would destroy Mass Relays, Or

Maybe they implanted a hidden gene within the human race that when activated with something, could Potentially destroy or hinder the Reapers. We aren't just coming to Earth to "Finish the Fight,"

We're coming back for answers.

In all seriousness, it is quite possible that there is something in the Sol system that might help in the fight against the Reapers, after all, so far as we know Sol is a cul-de-sac Mass-Relay wise and the Charon Relay probably has been there for millions of years and hundreds of cycles. So, long before life existed on Earth, there might have been something in the Sol system that warranted the interest of the Reapers - or of whomever it was who really put up the Mass Relays.

I really hope we won't learn humans are Prothean or something. Frankly, I'm not too fond on the whole emphasis on the humans ME2 brought. I like subtelty in my sci-fi in general. While Halo 3 was a bit annoying with the whole "saving every last man, woman and child", at least the emphasis weren't on humans. You may find I'm at the wrong place for not liking big, epic space operas, I just don't like that type of obvious saving the world, you're the single most important person type of thing. Master Chief is a killing machine, but Shepard is just a human better than the majority of people. ME1 wasn't so much about Shepard being the single most important person in the whole galaxy.

That's why I wanted McCain to win. So if we ever get attacked by aliens he'll take off his shirt and say, "I'm a pilot general, I belong in the air!"

You are playing a human, and you are human. Therefore humans will play a larger part of the story de facto. Do you think I'll give a **** if the Asari or Turian homeworlds get attacked? The answer to that riddle is no.
