Busomjack, to clarify, the reason I yelled at you is because your 1st post in this thread would've been a huge spoiler IF it was true. And the fact that you believed it was true and decided to post it in a non-spoiler forum doesn't exactly show good forum ettiquete now does it? Fortunately, this time, you just got muddled up, and misinterpreted the article...
It's not a spoiler if EA reveals it in their friggin marketing! Also, how is it not true? It's mentioned in the game description.
I think most people would agree that *that* would've been a huge spoiler, regardless of EA revealing it or not - which they haven't, by the way - it's not in the game description - go back and read it again carefully.
Ok, so they say "machines" instead of reapers. You think they're talking about Geth or Loki mechs?
Dude, you're such a blonde! I'm referring to your opening post... You know... where you said "Earth gets destroyed". Which is absolutely no where in the game description. Fortunately the game description isn't anywhere near that spoilery.

Worst, best plan ever. lolBusomjack wrote...
I'll let the Quarians serve as cannon fodder for the Reaper fleet while me and my Geth buddies sit back and watch the fireworks. Should thin their numbers a bit.

No, they mean reapers. They call them machines because people who haven't played the game before won't know what the heck reapers are.

Hmm, that's actually a fair point. I'll change my post.

I just want to know what kind of release window they're looking at. Hopefully no later than fall 2011.
What? Why not? Do you want them to rush it? Besides, 2011 is already as crowded as it is.

I'm concerned at how this is going to work. The reapers are assaulting Earth and we have to rally the galaxy to save it? The Reapers will destroy Earth in a day. More so why would they target Earth first? It's incredibly stupid from a strategic viewpoint. The Citadel is still the hub of the Relay Network. Earth is of no importance.
Humanity as saviors? I thought the whole point of ME was that humans are not saints/the chosen ones but part of a much larger community.
I mean are the thousands of Reapers going to have problems with taking Earth? Just because we are humans? No, they should be able to destroy it in a day.

Just because a game comes out soon doesn't mean it's rushed. Bioware has likely had the idea down for Mass Effect 3 even while Mass Effect 2 was still in development. Plus they already have a game template, a graphic's engine and a huge talented team that has worked on the previous two games.
Casey Hudson has already said that developing Mass Effect 3 will be easier than Mass Effect 2.

So, we are certain that this is not some kind of Red Herring trick? Also, why is it being announced so early?

Have you even played Mass Effect 2? The answer should be obvious.

But still, the longer we wait, the better this game will probably be. I can wait till 2012 or even 2013 if I must.

EA have dropped the ball on this one. Although i am over the moon that this is ME3 for real, i would have rather have found out via a pants-destructing, super exciting teaser trailer that makes the hairs stand on end, than a plain advert that plainly describes in a paragraph the climax to a trilogy we all love and dont forget very much part of the story with.
Excited.
Disappointed.
Looking forward to tomorrow...

It would make sense why they're only STARTING with humanity. The answer is in ME2.SaulTighsEyePatch wrote...
Does it bother anyone else that it seems to imply that the Reapers are only targeting Earth?? It says "a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race." Not any of the galactic races, just the HUMAN race. And that your mission is to launch one final mission to take back Earth?? Since when did it become all about humans and Earth? I would hope that the Reapers are not petty enough to just attack humanity because one human kicked their ass. This needs to be a more galactic game involving all the races to prevent their destruction as well, not just humans.

I can wait until 2012, and 2013 too but I believe Bioware has the capability to deliver a worthy product by the end of the year.
I predict the release date will be January 2012.
