I'm concerned.

I'm concerned at how this is going to work. The reapers are assaulting Earth and we have to rally the galaxy to save it? The Reapers will destroy Earth in a day. More so why would they target Earth first? It's incredibly stupid from a strategic viewpoint. The Citadel is still the hub of the Relay Network. Earth is of no importance.

Humanity as saviors? I thought the whole point of ME was that humans are not saints/the chosen ones but part of a much larger community.

I mean are the thousands of Reapers going to have problems with taking Earth? Just because we are humans? No, they should be able to destroy it in a day.

"MAJOR SPOILER'  im sorry but did you knot pay attention in me2 they are going to hit earth for the millions of earth fodder

Maybe this is the red herring?

Have you even played Mass Effect 2? The answer should be obvious.

No in ME2 they were trying to build a human reaper, makes sense to go after humans then. Makes no sense in ME3 to announce your presence by hitting Earth. Humans are not the destined to destroy them.

Can't wait!!!!! Oh Em Gee! Sucks cause I was saving the suprise for tomorow but I don't care right now cause I'm to excited! But I'm not taking any chances of spoilling ME3. I'm watching tomorows video then thats it. I will not be watching any other trailer... I did it with ME2 and kinda screwed me over.

Well then I'm glad I chose to keep the Collector base, I'm sure TIM will put it to good use once he sees the Human homeworld getting owned.

As far as we know, they're not going to destroy Earth... Anyway, the game description is pretty much repeating what we already suspected from ME2 - that the Reapers were going to target Earth to finish off their human-reaper... Hell the description could actually just be EA speculating themselves and just be a placeholder.  In any case, it's nothing actually new to us.

Your right.. but Shepard is. And Shepard's a human. Attack his culture, his race. They take Shepard down, they win. Thats how I see it.

I just want to know what kind of release window they're looking at. Hopefully no later than fall 2011.

Winter 2011 is my guess.

Either that or early 2012, around January/Febuary.

My thoughts exactly. It makes no sense that they're going after Earth. And some people seem to imply that theyve taken a "special interest" in humanity just because Shepard, a human kicked their asses. They're a race of machines that lived hundreds of thousands of years. They wouldn't target Earth just for petty revenge.

It concerns me how people on these boards are too busy creaming their pants to look critically at the info blurb.  If that blurb actually sums up the game, then I'll be very disappointed. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm really digging the idea of a Mass Effect game taking place in the middle of a giant apocalypse. This is really going to be great.

It will be a glorious battle. Even if we do stand a good chance of losing (hahaha not likely in this series). I hope Bioware makes this game harder. TO logically make the choices that are necessary for victory and survival against the reapers. You have to play your game smart if your going to win against them. Not just gather the races + beat last mission = happily ever after. **** that ****. I want some challenge in there.

Man, the game hasn't been announced and already they're spoiling it by revealing the earth's destruction by "machines".

This. While certainly not a HUGE spoiler...this is the kind of stuff that probably would have been an amazing game moment ruined by the marketing department.

And once again, it's IMPOSSIBLE to avoid, because IGN's main page says "Earth is under attack in ME3".

If the marketing department were forum users, they'd be banned for posting spoilers.

I was so hoping the trailer would be for ME3 and then this happened. I know it's just a rumor and I know there will be people who will be ecstatic beyond comprehension if multiplayer is true, but I am crushed beyond belief.

I have a feeling you may be right. I think the renegade option there may actualy be the one that will help you. I was affraid that TIM would go insane with power... but if the Reapers even touch earth, TIM will definately stay focused.

I'm sure he would, but being that keeping the base is considered the "renegade" thing to do, I'm sure there would be repercussions with other factions.  Letting Cerberus keep the base may lose you the support of the Alliance or the Council.  That seems like the BioWare-y thing to do.

If the reapers are as big as a problem as they are supposed to be, let them have earth. Just delay them long enough there (if possible) to mass the Citadel fleets and come up with a plan.

I seriously doubt that's everything. It looks like a generic product description.

We're recruiting all the races against the Reapers now? Gosh, who saw that coming? Image IPB

And humans, again? I'm sick of the "Humans are Special" trope, here. The reasons they gave for it were extremely stupid to begin with.

Still, I'm excited.

Earth, love it or leave it.  I heard Palaven is nice this time of year though you might have trouble finding levo-protein based foods.

It's nothing against Earth. Humans being the "chosen race" in sci-fi is just something that's been done to death, really. In the whole wide Galaxy, we just happen to be special. It's stupid and unlikely.

I hope this is just a sadistic revenge plot from the Reapers and not another ridiculous plan for the human species. I had enough of that in ME2. Harbinger's words at the end kind of dash those hopes away, though.

I don't understand all of the complaints as to humans being the saviours again. Humans will be severely under attack, so that leads me to believe if humans aren't to be genocided they'll need to, like, y'know, receive help from the other races. People have been complaining for a while that humans are treated as too special within the game's universe. Now a concept is introduced where humans probably won't fill that role and the complaints continue.

I would imagine the good folks at Bioware are less than pleased that this news has leaked a day earlier; gamers in the know will now expect ME3 as the big reveal tomorrow at Sike.

EA have dropped the ball on this one. Although i am over the moon that this is ME3 for real, i would have rather have found out via a pants-destructing, super exciting teaser trailer that makes the hairs stand on end, than a plain advert that plainly describes in a paragraph the climax to a trilogy we all love and dont forget very much part of the story with.

Excited.
Disappointed.
Looking forward to tomorrow...

 There is a more than likely probability that this whole thing was intentional.  This "leak" alone will boost the VGA's viewership by quite a bit.

Yea, but I'm still saying Winter 2011 since they said development for it will be easier than ME2 and ME1 and will take less time.
