Thank you for the link.

So dumbing down has a new term: "Enriching the roleplaying aspects of the game". Clever marketing.

I'm sorry, have you played the game?

We have no idea what they mean by meaningless stats yet. It could be something that genuinely did very little. Plus, lots of numbers do not make the RPG, or the intelligence of the game.

You couldn't have said that without the attitude in your post?

No need to be sorry. I observe a downward trend. Both ME2 and DA2 enriched the roleplaying aspects of their predecessors. Ghehe. See how great that new marketing term looks? Arrival was devoid of RPG. So, I guess that ME3 won't be any different. Especially after this little article. It sure does not talk about any new additions.

I really can't understand why everyone thinks that very overrated inventory system in ME1 made it a Role Playing Game when RPGs are (or should be) more about character developments, a good story and interesting choices. I never gave a flying **** about the inventory system and all those trivial stats guns, because I was more interested in the plot.

Precisely.

Goodbye, Ring of +1 Dexterity, hello Investing in Skills Might Actually Do Something.

Eliminating "meaningless stats" does not result in having "meaningful stats".

You can take it out of context and apply it to 20 different aspects of the Mass Effect gameplay. It probably means that they don't want to have redundancy of the ME1 items and stats, where you had 101 types of cardboard guns with numbers attached all "meaningless" and senseless.
When you pick a certain gun in ME2 you know exactly how it feels like, and it does have a "feel".

I guess no meaningless stats =/= no stats at all. If they don't use some stats, I wonder how they will portray the effects of gun customisation (assuming said modification changes things like weapon game and clip capacity)?

Hopefully something like this.  Just... replace units and buildings with weapons and powers.

In case you don't click the link, here's a summary:

In Starcraft 2, there were points in the campaign where, if you'd seized enough alien technology, you could research new weaponry and modifications.  These mods ranged from "casting power X no longer requires mana" to "building Y now has a gun turret on top of it."  However, at each step of the ladder, you had to choose between two potentially game-changing research projects--you couldn't, for example, get both double-strength armor and fully automated defenses.

They better bring back P/R stats(I mean those in which WE the players can invest our points, not these hidden stats from ME2). Its absolutely stupid to be forced to act as a paragon a whole game to be able to choose some blue option in dialogue.

Bars maybe? Even a simple description without visualization will do fine; it did in ME2 didn't it (or maybe I missed the clamor?).

The Eviscerator shotty says something like:
"bla bla bla.. long range.. bla bla.. effective aginst shield and armor"
not "normal range damage modifier x1.25 dmg vs shields and armor".

The Tempest's description says something like:
"bla bla bla.. high rate of fire.. very effective against shields"
not "925RPM x1.5 dmg vs shields".

Is that so bad?

Maybe now that the game is delayed there is a higher chance of getting something integrated into Normandy from that list we did.

Bah!

I don't mind the added wait, but I was thinking that ME3 coming out during winter break would've been perfect. Would've given me tons of time to play/enjoy it. Instead it will probably be coming out while classes are going on. =(

I wouldn't mind simplified stats just to see how the different guns compare to each other without reading walls of text.

They just didnt learn from their DA2 experience. Inventorys dont save games.

Just we better be able to keep our armor stuff we got from ME2. I remember they said your armor and equipment from ME1 would carry over, so hope they do that this time since the system isnt being Overhauled again.

 Bioware,

Please don't tone Mass Effect down anymore than you already did in ME2.  I play your games because I want a great story, well written characters and lots of opportunities to shape my character how I like.  Please don't turn ME3 into Gears of War in space.

Thank you, and good luck.

Have you written that right? I'm pretty sure they specifically said that it wouldn't, right from the get go. I remember the pain of losing my Spectre gear.

Part of shaping one's Shepard is player choice and Mass Effect 3 better deal with the choices from 2 in a meaningful way . I want it to be a rpg as well

I don't think we need to worry about that - they've done nothing to show us that character development and plot are going out the window as priorities.

You think we could get some collectible covers for Mass Effect 3? That way it satisfies everyone's wants of a FemShep (or insert your favorite character here) on the game cover itself.

Ah, okay. I was thinking it was after ME2 was announced. Otherwise, you might be right.

Your renegade and paragon scores? You know, the ones that can decide the fates of about five different people?
