But in a way, they will all be new romances as they will have new entry points.

For example, there will be two separate Tali romances. The ME2 one, and the ME3 one. They transition well enough if you import a Tali LI Shepard, but at the same time are both also stand-alone. It would be this way for all of the romances from ME2 and ME1, at least as far as Casey has led us to believe.

It doesn't have to be a new character to be a new romance. There WILL be new romances in ME3, at least so to speak. Just no new LIs.

And he specifically stated there would be a new intro for ALL love intrests. That would imply no cut-offs from starting a new romance because the character is a temporary squadmate, like with Liara in LotSB if you didn't already romance her to begin with.

"Tali, I love you."
"Shepard, the Reapers are destroying the fleet! Couldn't you have told me this, you know, earlier?"

"New banter systems have been introduced [urk=http://twitter.com/#%21/CaseyDHudson/status/68098908965969922][47][/url]"

I think something went wrong there. :P

Yeah, I think doing the old romances for the first time in ME3 can be a bit awkward.

Same with [38]. I'll take a look at those when I get some time, sorry.

Well every squadmate could easily have a new personal mission, that will no doubt get just as intimate as each of their loyalty missions before in ME2 (as far as their trust in Shepard is being tested and dispayed and blah blah) providing justification for a new spark to form where it hadn't before.

You probably won't be able to start brand new romances with the characters until after said personal mission, so the advantage of importing the romance from a previous game is not missing out on the content for the relationship that fits in from the beginning of the game up to that point, which may or may not be as substantial as what follows.

"#ME3 will have relationships with new characters and old friends, some of it romantic. Beyond that, spoiler territory!"

From KC Hudson's twitter. Are we absolutely sure there will be no new LIs, I kind of forgotten where that info came from.

Maybe he meant new characters and old friends as in Liara and the VS.

This is how I read it as well since it has already been said that there won't be entirely new LIs in ME3.

First of all, how is Liara a new character? Second, where was that info confirmed, a magazine or something more official?

For people who haven't played ME1 or ME2.. Liara and VS are new characters. Heck, even for people who never played ME1. You're reading way too much into Casey's comment.

Plus the "some of it romantic" could be referring just to the old friends part not necessarily both new characters and old friends.

I dunno, I think if it was a straight no he would have just said so. Maybe its a WIP or just under consideration?

"We have a great little storyline for what happens to your #ME2 cabin stuff in #ME3."

this is worth a mention imo.

The Alliance pawns it all away, and Shepard has to scour the Citadel for his precious, precious ship models.

The Atlas mech? I think Shep might be able to take control over it.
