Let me see what ME3 has:
A story more like ME1s.
Squad armor customization.
New LIs, and improved relationships.
Squad banter (I could die happy).
Vehicles.
Weapon pick ups, and customization.
Improved visuals and sound effects.
Massive boss fights, and huge moments.
Multileveled maps.
More Shepard appearances.
First two games plus the DLCs have effects later on.
Smaller but more personal teams.
More emotional Shepard, and Shepard's past.
More potent biotics.
Zaeed ****ing Massani.
Possible space combat!
Sellable items/weapons (hinting at lots of items, without hoarding).
Beautiful redesigns of everyone.
Species home worlds, in addition to Omega, the Citadel, possibly Tuchanka, and Illium.
8 more months of development time!!!
Crazy and apparently epic endings.
Seriously. I was concerned about how ME3 would turn out...but not any more. Not only has EVERY
problem I've had with ME2 been addressed, but so much new content is being packed into this game that I don't think I will be able to handle the awesome without burning my hands!
The next 8 months are going to redefine how we play TPSs, and how people perceive gaming.
Gears 3, U3, Max Payne 3, and ME3.
Ouch. This is so awesome.
*wipes bloody nose*
I dont think i can handle...
so.....much,,,,,awsesomness....
Nope....cant...do it
*head explodes*
I forgot about AC Revolution. I absolutely can't wait to find out what happens in that!
It's interesting, the main reason these titles are so important to me is because of the stories.
Gears 1 had an awful story. Gears 2 had a story that actually tried to be good, and as a result, was pretty decent. Gears 3 is pushing the story to the next level, and prepping the player for the end. The fact that the game, already looking incredibly polished by fall of last year, got a 8 month delay utterly surprised and pleased me. No fear of rushing. No fear of broken MP. No fear of them not going in and redoing sections of the game that they were uncomfortable with. I can't always say this of Epic Games, but damn, and I proud of them this time.
Revolution is part four in a series of genuinely abstract but good story telling, and is getting the player ready for ACIII's finale. AC is one series I would say is a perfect example of how some times gaming has to tell a story in a different fashion than a book or movie. It is so massive, diverse, and complex, that trying to condense it into a 10 hours campaign just doesn't cut it.
Uncharted 3 isn't the end of the Uncharted universe, and thank god, as far as I'm concerned. It was never set up to be part of a finite number of games. But with that said, I fully expect the series to take a "rest" after two more games.
I remember feeling really bummed by ME3's delay (even though I kept telling people that a delay was almost inevitable). But when I looked at the list of stellar titles coming out in the fall...I honestly don't think I've seen a better line up. Ever. I seriously wouldn't be surprised if 2013 ended up being a "hang over" year, after the incredible highs of 2011-2012.
FPSs are also having a superb year.
Portal 2
Crysis 2
Duke Nukem (which I won't be getting, but whatever)
Resistance 3
BattleField 3 (fvcking finally!)
Killzone 3
And I suppose MW3
(but I consider that whole series, since MW2, the necessary evil to maintain the entire gaming industry in America-- milked to no end)
ME3 is probably going to scare me with how amazing it is. Just how I like it.
I was initially happy that ME3 was delayed. More dev time is never bad right? These confirmed feature updates are making the wait harder though.
