I think it's a blade - the way the other reapers are descending, it doesn't match up with the trail. The Reapers trail is large and eventually smaller like a comet. The blade is small and then larger at the top along with a clear and distinct curve.

Looks like it.

I don't see how it is stupid. We already know that the omni-tool has some physical parts, hence the haptic interface, drones, incinerate etc.

I'm not saying it's stupid at all. I'm very interested in seeing how it's played out actually. B)

I'm only worried that they will use kinect in a very impractical way. I hope they don't, the idea and potential for it to work really great, is there

I hope that Kinect is not the reason they delayed the game

By the way why is it that on every cover of a new ME game Shepard looks more and more of a douschbag

Well one it's never been shown to be able to do thism and two it does look kinda stupid.

Or awesome.

I still can't decide.

Yeah well, the thing sports a flashlight on a couple of cutscene-only occasions. It's a damn Swiss Army Knife, anyway.

I like how every person in existence immediately jumps the Kinect like rabid dogs, even if they have no idea of how it might be implemented in the game.

It can also record video footage, transmit them through the extranet, show TV shows, and act as a RUVIS light.

It's more annoying that sad when you know that the same people who complained about the thermal clips will complain about this too. They don't even know the lore that they think is broken.

Because by supporting Kinect something else would be taken away from the game. Also, theres seriously no point for Kinect, other than to draw in a 'broader audience'.

It's one thing being a personal computer and it's another thing being a knife.

But you'll gladly make up your own lore, lie about existing lore details, or just flat outright ignore established lore all for favoring your view points. (The ammo / heat management debate comes to mind).

And that's bad for them...how?

That's what they want. So they can earn more money. And the fact that it'll most likely be completely optional just flies over people's heads.

You know what's also breaking the lore? Regenerating shields, the Vanguard's Charge ability, being able to bring enemies' shields down with your bare hands, medi-gel not making Shepard slip into a coma when used several times in a row and more.

But I can't see anyone complaining about that.

Yeah, well, nope, that means that it is made of physical components, but that was not my point. Bioware could perfectly have it be a knife made by a transparent material, with a haptic interface over it, like the SB's shield, but honestly, I think that it makes much more sense for it to be made by "tiny robots", like the drones, as this concept suggests:

]The main processing unit and the secondary processing module is where the computing power of the device is stored.
These are combinations of a harddrive and computer processor chip arrays.

The communicator is a 2 way audio transmitter with a holographic projector for creating a visual image if necessary (as seen during the grand finale of Mass Effect 2).

The primary holographic projector is used to create the "images" of large objects and the micromech tools used for finer tools.
It creates the "hologram" is the visual representation for a Combat Drone, for example.

The secondary projectors are to provide extra precision for the finer tools, which are normally used for hacking, direct connections to other computers, maintainence tasks etc.

Because the Combat Drone and tools would actually require some physical components, the Nanomech Fabricator creates the solid parts out of tiny robots, which then swarm into a predefined pattern based on the hologram being projected.
Things like a power array, energy projector, mechanical link connector and so on.

The actuator glove is actually more simple.
It's just a glove with sensors that respond to the proximity of the "virtual hologram" of the Omnitool.

Baseless insults and incompetence to read the codex first, come to mind:

To eliminate this inefficiency, the geth adopted detachable heat sinks known as thermal clips. While organic arms manufacturers were initially doubtful this would produce a net gain, a well-trained soldier can eject and swap thermal clips in under a second. Faced with superior enemy firepower, organic armies soon followed the geth's lead, and today's battlefields are littered with these thermal clips.

Flashlight? End of the Battle of the Citadel.
Recording audiovisual footage and transmitting it? LotSB, Liara's apartment
RUVIS light? LotSB, Liara's apartment.
Being able to watch TV? Mass Effect: Galaxy

I know that I come off as hostile, but I have no obligation to be polite to someone who makes a personal attack.

How does the above prove your point that you were weren't making up lies and ignoring other established lore points in that thread. Oh wait, thats the Phaedon maneuver side of stepping the issue.

anyways back to the topic at current ideas at hand (literally); The Omni-tool can always advance in technology. I see the armor tech of the Sentinel being modified to act as a blade at the end of an Omni tool.

Crying? How is having a debate crying - I don't think I said I wasn't going to buy ME3 because of it. I'm just mildly disappointed in the direction it took.
Just as much as they mangled the lore for game-play reasons and being called out on it. I'm going to call people out who have to ignore lore and make up crap just to try to win an argument.

I get it, an ammo based system MAY be better for game play reasons and thats why you like it; in your view, game play should always trump lore. I have no problem with that, thats your view point and its valid to your own reasonings. But if you have a strong view point, you shouldn't have to resort to lies and ignorance to try to claim your side of the debate.

If Bioware implement 3D support and Kinect, (if it can be done without waylaying the dev teams too much) then I believe it would make a great game even better.

Whatever you may think of Kinect, and motion control in general, the peripheral sales numbers (especially Kinect) are too big to be blindly ignored by any developer, even if it's given a rational debate by the in house dev team and then a decision is taken not to use it

People like having things to complain about. It's better just to leave it.
