Confirmed Features
'Cheating' on your ME1 LI might have negative repercussions in ME3 [10]
This is an oxymoron.
A "confirmed feature" is cheating on your ME1 LI will have negative repercussions.
Saying it "might" confirms absolutely nothing. Best this be put under rumours/speculation.
CaseyH-ME2: To Guest-552 One thing I'm really excited to see is the achievement data that will show how faithful players are to their ME1 love interest. And the best part is, even though I expect most (almost all?) players will cheat on their ME1 love interest, that decision too will come back to haunt them in the next game!
It says that it will have repercussions, we don't know for certain if they will be negative.

If it is true that during the game the Earth is under attack and you are gathering races, won't it feel weird if you take your time and explore from an RP perspective? I mean there Earth is being burned up, and you're up in space exploring planets, doing side quests and drinking in bars. Just think it'll feel weird if i don't do the main story quick. At least in ME1 and 2 the matter wasn't absolutely urgent, as you weren't entirely sure what was going on, so from an RP perspective you could justify exploring and doing side quests. I'm just thinking out loud, i have no intention of blasting through the main quest, just sayin'.
Well, ME1's main storyline was named 'Race Against Time'...

Excerpt from ME3!
Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to take back the Earth.
So sad... I was really hoping it wouldn't be another Dragon Effect...

"Some of the ME1 characters are back, and recruitable (more than you might think), and the ones that aren't still play an important role in the story and will be around for ME3 - which we can't say for the new characters [introduced in ME2]."

Okay, why exactly are you posting rumors in a Confirmed thread?
Because we might confirm them later

Not only that, though. There is a chance that rumours come true, so you might want to keep them in mind.

Post the whole quote.
We actually want to make sure these characters survive the ME2 story, which ultimately is a suicide mission: some of your crew will almost certainly die. The RPGers would still get their game, while the projected extra sales from a quality MP sci-fi shooter fund the budget for another team creating a separate (but possibly using same art assets) MP campaign...

Nobody is dismissing it, but then, it's not confirmed.
It was either a figure of speech or I had my threads confused, or both. I can't remember details.
I think my point was more along the lines that "you can have mp in a ME game and it doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to have any impact on the SP component"...

I wouldn't dismiss the Multiplayer rumor just yet.Considering how (wildly) different the SP and MP modes of recent blockbuster AAA games have been (and how often they have been developed by different studios... MoH's SP and MP parts even used a different engine!) I wouldn't be surprised if there's a different studio working on an MP component to the new game.

Well, aren't Bioware Montreal working on a solely multiplayer component? If anyone remember, Bioware wanted to make ME2 so fans of CoD could enjoy the game, I wouldn't be surprised for them to try something to make the game sell more. As shown by the most popular games out there, it's multiplayer that sells, not single player. A big fraction don't even play it, as least not more than once.
Considering this, I'm not sure regarding my stance on ME3 having multiplayer. There's two options. Either they make a simple, addictive experience not unlike those popular games, or they try to make a clever use of ME's universe and story in order to make a fresh and exciting multiplayer mode like Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow did. In case there's people who don't know about this, Splinter Cell was an exclusively single player game and everyone thought it wouldn't change and difficultly saw something out of it. Ubisoft cleverly took a plot point from Pandora Tomorrow and expanded it in a Spies vs Mercenaries mode, the multiplayer mode actually was canon. Unfortunately I'd be surprised for Bioware to try that road considering how they told us which crowd they tried to attract. Still, we wouldn't know the mp mode's relevance to the story or universe until we get through the single player experience first.

Hmm...well good point.
We do know that there will be at least a rendered cutscene featuring London though.
