I just hope that he doesn't end up as interesting as most human squadmates. :P

O yea if you do end up doing those "hints" or "notes" in the OP you could add that Evolution was written with ME3 in mind. Source is the podcast that Chris did with Mac few months ago, you can find it there. And just in case you didn't see my post earlier about melee attacks from classes I'm mentioning it again.

Actually Sanders's role is for the new players. Besides being a new character, which means he is easier to connect to someone new to the series, he is also diplomacy noob which means his role there is to ask questions in such a way that someone who is playing ME for the first time would be asking himself therefore explaining the universe to players. I think it's a fantastic idea from Bioware.

I already love Sanders and I know NOTHING about him.

I have the exact opposite reaction. Shepard's a hero, not a babysitter. And I don't want to waste time getting to know some new guy I doubt I'll care about as much as the over a dozen characters who could be filling his seat.

Why couldn't the VS be the question-asker type? They've been out of the loop for the past game, they could be making up for lost time.

Sanders = cannon fodder.  He will be the only squadmate that I intentionally let die  :)

Maybe because VS was there in ME1? Not exactly a noob. And Sanders is combat veteran so he is supposed to be useful in combat not a distraction. Anyway one "Sanders" isn't gonna be a reason for Bioware to drop fan-favourite characters. One more or less doesn't mean anything. And Jarrett said that "game isn't about doesn't matter if you played first two or not, there isn't any wish in discarding loyalty to the series"- not exact words

Is the $60 price point for the PC version confirmed? If so, ugh, way to keep the EA mantra going, BW.

You hope a military veteran...is childish?

Does anyone know if squadmates can use all weapons like Shepard? Or are the stuck with preset weapons?

ME3's combat seems to look like it will clean the floor with Gears of War 3's combat system. I like that a lot. ME3 may become the best third person shooter in the market. I saw GoW3's trailer and once again...... they didn't add a thing to the combat system (3 games of the same stuff, now that's kind of sad).

Well, do they really need to adjust the combat system in Gears? Most people would say no considering Gears is basically considered the pinnacle of TPS games.

um, yeah: in gears they've revised the cover system AGAIN, to make it more fluid, you can now mantle/roll in diagonals as well as the usual 4 axes, you can shoot with both hands (something that would solve one of me2's most prominent glitches). comparing the two isn't really fair because one is designed for multiplayer as much as single, and the mass effect series, whilst it can stand on it's own, has a lot or rpg elements in it's combat mechanics.

In the GI article it says "Best of all, weapons are no longer restricted based on class, so any character has the ability to use any weapon."

Why is this so hard for people to grasp?  They are EA. EA owns them entire.  The price is not something they get to set, just like the other EA studios don't get to.  Hell, even if they were an independent developer and simply publishing via EA, they still wouldn't have any say on the retail price.

@didymos "Any character" means any Shepard. I doubt squadmates will be able to use all weapons. It would be nice though.

Sweet, didn't realise they have made changes to it, was assuming they hadn't based off of Pwener2313's post. Sounds pretty good to be honest, but then shall see for myself in 5 days when I get hold of the beta.

I deliberately avoided giving an interpretation because I'm not certain it does mean just Shepard. So, I just gave the bare text instead.

I'm actually really hoping it means squadmates as well. I thought it was dumb that squadmates were restricted to certain weapon types in ME2.

So if they said that then only 1 Shepard would have been able to do it?

Or do you mean any class of Shepard?
They said that already, why would they say it twice.
And why not "any class"?

I love it when people say ME3 will take over Gears 3 in the third person shooter genre. Wrong. Vanquish already did that.

If we are strictly talking third person shooting mechanics and fluidity in gameplay, ME and Gears don't stand up to Vanquish in a million years.

For a game that doesn't have nearly the budget of Gears 3 and ME3, Vanquish is an achievement in TPS that sets to bar higher than hell.

From IGN website:

What characters will return?
So far, BioWare has confirmed the following cast for Mass Effect 3:

The Illusive Man

Garrus (if he survived)

James Sanders (NOT the soldier in the trailer)
Liara T'Soni

Kaidan Alenko or Ashley Williams (the Virmire survivor)

Legion (if he survived)

Wrex (if he survived)

Mordin (if he survived)

Ambassador Udina

Captain Anderson

Notably missing: Miranda, Jack, Tali and Kelly!  Seeing how these are romances from ME 2 they better be in ME 3!

I hope for the same Posted Image
