Newb question but what does "ME1 LI" mean?
Refering to: "'Cheating' on your ME1 LI might have negative repercussions in ME3"

Why even have the option for Shepard to die at the end of ME2 if the game is just going to ignore every decision you make and say that Shepard survived the suicide mission? The choices you made in ME2 would then be pointless because the only way to continue the game would be to make the choices BioWare wants you to make. I thought they could do something like Dragon Age 2 and just import the world and all the choices you made, not the character. (If your character doesn't make it to ME3.)

It's because Shepard's death is nothing but an easter egg, not actually part of the story that can happen and still "make progress" like the Ultimate Sacrifice in DA:O. That and it's been said so many times that the ME trilogy is (and only is) Shepard's story, which directly indicates no place for a different protagonist. You might as well treat that ending to be non-existent.

EDIT: @Malice, LI stands for love interest. ME1 LI's are the love interests from the first chapter: Kaidan, Ashley, and Liara.

You know how sometimes you can walk in front of an enemy squad you didn't know was there and eat over 9000 rounds and fall down and die and get a Game Over screen? Think of Shepard dying in the endgame as being like that, only without an explicit Game Over screen.

Well, Shepard is aboard the Normandy during the teaser, I think.

I apologize for my bad English, but I translated it with google translator. Lol

I'm glad ME3 was announced, I can not wait to come out.

My opinion is against, but I hope there is multiplayer for ME3, as the saga of ME was created for the single player, and then I consider that money to develop it could take anything away from the development of single-player campaign.

Basically, as I see it, the ME 3 multiplayer is a waste in terms of money, and "function" (ME 3 certainly will not take me for a multiplayer game, but the bell for single player).

I wonder if there will be any RTS elements. I mean, if Shepard's a natural leader, and he's assembling a big fleet...

Why? Shouldn't you care a little more about the game or the story? Ther shouldn't be any DLC if the story ends at the end of the game. Nothing needs to be continued if everything gets resolved!

It's not ignoring anything, if Shepard died then that's the end of the story and you have to continue with a new one. I don't know what you expect to happen when Shepard is the reason that the trilogy exists. They didn't make the game for someone else to be the hero, Shepard is the hero.

The feature I don't want is the multiplayer. Instead of MP spend the time working on a cool new single player feature.

If there was multiplayer it would be worked on by a completely different part of Bioware so it wouldn't take any time away from the main Mass Effect team.

LOTSB definitely, only makes sense to because of all the features you get and specially with the Shadow Brokers tools I think that will play a big part in ME3. Bioware said they wanted to bridge the gap between ME2 and ME3 with DLC, so I think the DLC's are just as important as ME2 itself. I was hoping they would do a DLC with Ashley since they did a big one with Liara, tho I didn't like Ashley there should have been something as well with Kaidan, 1 dies in ME1 so maybe make them the same DLC just swap characters.

Cheating on ME1 LI, I have 3 playthroughs, and cheated with 3 different, and was gonna do a 4th with the last 1. So Guess I'll have to do an additional 2 and not cheat to help get as much varied playthroughs as I can cause I plan on playing ME3 quite a few times for a long time.

Any idea Kelly counts as a love interest? I haven't tried with her yet and I guess you would know if she does when you play LOTSB  since a past LI will bring it up in dialog at the end. So has anyone tried?

Having exclusive PS3 content is not cool what so ever, hope its just a weapon and armor and not something us players wish we had on the PC version.

Bioware confirmed saying ME3 will the last with Shephard's story, sounds like their will be more games from the same universe but how could it possible measure the amount of intensity that ME has done with the Reapers and saving the universe. Maybe Shephard dies and theres still a threat but that would be unsatisfying. I love Bioware and have faith in them and it would be a shame if the Mass Effect universe is gone forever.

We'll worry about that when the time comes. For now ME3 is our main focus.

On multiplayer in locked down threads -

Now that Mass Effect 3 has been officially announced, I return to the age-old response to this topic: Mass Effect 3 is a single-player game. Thank you. - Pacifien

Well I only just found out about and watched the ME3 trailer minutes ago and I am in love with it. On all the ME3 speculations threads I always thought wouldn't it be great if reapers actually did make into our galaxy. In the first game we ran around Attican Traverse an area of growing human expansion (the wild west in my book) filled with new opportunities and danger. ME2 sent us into the lawless Terminus systems. I always felt that the best direction for the ME3 story was some kind scenario were the galaxy is at war the reapers and Shepard has find THE solution to end the reapers.

I never posted my this idea because I couldn't get past the how do the reapers get to our galaxy question but right now I don't care. Next year can not come soon enough

There should be a moment in ME3 where you either get to fight on the Normandy's hull (while in combat?) OR you get to "pilot" the Normandy through a battle.

I doubt it.

What would bet better would be a pre-battle tactics screen, so you can set part of your army to flank, another to assault from the front, and have some snipers in a tower or higher ground, if we're dealing with ground forces here. Then when you start the mission/battle those who you moved would move and flank and snipe as the battle rages on.

RTS mechanics do not work well on consoles. Maybe on the PC, but this isn't a PC only game.

Do we know anything about the Collector's Edition beyond that it will have a cool item? Like, when we can pre-order it? 'Cause we can pre-order the regular game now.

All I know is this: We better get some sort of inventory in ME3. I don't want ME1 level of ridiculous inventory management, but I got terribly sick of seeing all my other crew members wearing the exact same outfits throughout the entire game. I LIKED being able to suit up my other party members. I also got sick of having *no* loot at all really.

Oh.. and GET RID OF THE THERMAL CLIPS. That was so stupid. The Mass Effect universe took a MASSIVE technological step backward with that, and then the devs decided to claim it was a 'technological advancement?' For real? They took guns that never ran out of ammo, ever, and could sustain fire forever almost (so long as the shooter was careful), gave them limited ammunition 'clips' that could run out in the middle of battle, and call it an ADVANCEMENT? Preposterous.

Thanks.
