If the reports are to be true, the it would appear that ME3 will be a Humanity vs the Reapers and not the Galaxy vs the Reapers as we all expected sense Mass Effect 1.

ME1 = Protecting the Galaxy from the Reaper invasion
ME2 = Saving Humanity from the Collector Attacks
ME3 = Saving Earth from the Reapers

Thoughts?

Well, remember that Shepard represented humanity when he took down Saren and his Reaper master. It gained the attention of the Reapers and they thought that humanity made something to offer and decided to use us as Reaper ingredients. Shepard kick the Collectors arses and at the end of ME2 Harbinger stated that "your species now has the attention of those infinitely your greater. That which you know as Reapers are your salvation through destruction." The pieces fall into place: the Reapers are not only curious about humanity, but see as a threat.

Funny thing is, they can re-use some of TIMs lines.

"We're at war, no one wants to admit it, but Humanity is under attack, one very specific man might be all that stands between Humanity and the greatest threat of our brief existance..."

Though with a slight alteration in Miranda's line

"If we die, the rest of the Galaxy may follow"

And TIMS followup

"Then see to it that we don't die!"

It's like when Shep is talking to Kalara Tomi on the Citadel if got human council, when she tries to act tough to Shep, Shep puts her in place reminding her that "if it wasn't for us, you'd be reaper chow now, your welcome, enjoy your drinks... ladies"

So yup, Reapers see us as threat, get rid of threat, rest of galaxy will crumble

Talking to OP.

I would be disappointed though. "Humans are special" is such a tired old cliche in sci-fi.

Pfeh. Pushy humans think they're entitled to everything... [/turian NPC]

Seriously, though, this whole "yay humanity" spiel gets old. Sure, one could argue the same for "yay galactic unity," but I like galactic unity better.

The rest of the Galaxy refuse to believe the Reapers even exist. Humans are the only ones doing anything about it so of course they would be the first attacked.  They probably intend to use Earth as a beach-head to take the rest of the galaxy.

Ah yes, "humans." The alleged intergalactic species that will save us from the Reapers.

We have dismissed that claim.

Yeah i noticed that. Saving Earth from the reapers? I hope the game actually finishes the battle with the reapers, and not just "You saved Earth Human, but we will be back, someday.....".

You must be playing a different game than me then, cause that's been the gist through two games.

The alliance doesn't believe the reapers exist either, and you must have missed the part where Mordin didn't even bat an eye when Shepard starts talking about Reapers.

That ending would be better then fighting a giant terminator.

"Earth is burning. Striking from beyond known space, a race of terrifying
machines have begun their destruction of the human race. As Commander
Shepard, an Alliance Marine, your only hope for saving mankind is to
rally the civilizations of the galaxy and launch one final mission to
take back the Earth."

If we follow what is write... Earh as already fall when we begin Mass Effect 3. So we must united the rest of the galaxy to save our own homeworld from becoming a reapers factory

There will be A LOT of Terminator...

How bad of a information network do the Reapers have to come to that conclusion? Did they miss the all the aliens fighting behind me and the geth?

Mass Effect: Humans think they're special.

Mass Effect 2: Humans are special.

If ME3 is focusing on Earth, then ME1 would be the most epic installment of all three for me. 'Cos seriously, putting all the 'humanz are special' stuff aside, saving the whole Galaxy is much more epic and large-scale than making an emphasis on saving one planet/race.

You realize your talking about the reapers right? I mean they aren't just going to turn around and go back to dark space after  they destroy earth. And besides the reapers obviously see humans as a threat so why wouldn't they attack them first. Cripple their biggest threat then move on from there.
And besides that stopping the reapes period is saving the galaxy.

Basically, we're going to save both the Galaxy and Earth either way.

However, making an emphasis on either the whole Galaxy or a single planet shapes player's impression of the threat and the final fight.

Yes there are aliens on Shepards team but a human is the.one holding the group together.  A human is the one uniting them all.  That is what they are afraid of.  Fighting a united galaxy.

Looking at the description, it would appear that ME3 would follow sort of a Dragon Age: Origins type format.

Yes, the generic description says that Earth is burning, so the entire game has to revolve around Earth exclusively. Just like Mass Effect 2 revolved exclusively around human colonies getting attacked by the Collectors, even though you only ever visit two colonies.

Also, Mass Effect has always been about humanity's place in the galaxy.

We have to get all civilizations involved to stop the invasion. Not just humans, everyone. Yes, humans have a large target on our backs, but no other civilization should be so dumb as to think they won't be next. Except for the turian councilor. He's in so much denial, he's a lost cause.

Allow me to quote a crazy Batarian:

“Humans are a blight on galactic purity. You sir! You are a blight! And you! And you, human. And you!”

“The Protheans cast off the lesser races: the krogan, the vorcha, and the humans. "And so they dwelled in filth, on worlds made of dirt and feces, and there they lay until they stumbled into the skies." The lesser races will be our downfall! The Word is clear.”

“"Let none in my sight continue to live, lest their impurity displease me." The Word is clear on this, friends. Humans are the hands of the Reapers, here to commit the galaxy to ruin!”

The loss of Earth, while tragic just creates a greater opportunity for my Shepard to seize power. Don't tell me I am the only one thinking in such a manner.
