Weren't people complaining that they didn't get to see Earth? Now they are complaining that Earth will be a level in the game?

TBH This thread is usless due to purely speculaltion from unoffical source.

No, I'm just worried that the whole game will be earth-centric. As long as it is in fact, only a few levels in the game, then all is good.

so i have a feeling that in ME3 there will be a "save the earth" or "save the galaxy" moment

that would be awesome

You know what, truth be told, I always wanted to see earth too in the other two games, I was and am very currious about what our homeworld looks like in the ME future. I want to SEE it, on the ground with maybe one or two missions, That doesn't mean the whole Reaper invasion should inexplicably focus on it. They supposedly swept through the entire galaxy in one fell swoop before, why in the world focus on one planet now when they have the rescources to one fell swoop us?

The reapers didnt fell swoop anything

They always snuck in destroying the main core of the fleets of other previous empires who would be assembled around the citadel.

Even after that it took centuries to eradicate civilizations

There was no fell swooping.

But destroying the core of their enemy is just what destroying Earth would do.  Earth is essentially synonymous with humanity in the Mass Effect universe.  Just compare the populations of Earth to the largest human colony.

Terra Nova: 4.4 million inhabitants
Earth: 12.6 billion inhabitations

even if there were 1000 colonies of nearly that size in the galaxy, Earth would still represent 2/3 of the human population, and considering most people estimate that the population of the colonies is something around 1 billion, that's even worse.

If the Reapers destroy Earth, they would, at best, be killing off 60% or so of the human race.  I call that a crushing blow.

Yeah that's if humans were the key players, I know I know humans humans humans. But think about it: even after the Soveriegn incedent compare human populations to Turian considering Turians have been around expanding and colonizing for hundreds of years longer than humans Turian populations should dwarf humans, and with mandatory military service for all turians They'd easily have the larges most powerful force in the Galaxy. Where as humans have ONE GUY who's pulled off a couple long shots. That doesn't make all of Earth the greatest target.

Looks as if Earth is done in ME3.  And so are all our companions.  (well, that's not confirmed, but I've long since given up hope that they'll be back.)

The Alliance has the smallest amount of territory, the smallest population, lower grade tech, a smaller armed services (compared to other species non-combatant/combatant ratios). Attacking Earth makes no tactical sense, wiping out 12 billion non-combatants would be pointless (figuring 600 million various armed forces, a conservative estimate)

The Turians and the Asari represent a greater military threat, they would be dealt with first.

ME1 and 2 were all about the pulling together of all species to defeat a common enemy. Now while the Reapers do/did want to convert every human on Earth, you have to remember that time is on their side.

So unless the creative writing department at Bioware suffered simultaneous and severe brain embolisms, ME3 wont be centred around aliens invading Earth.

ME trailer released:

2 million dead in first day, 7 million dead in first week... sure looks like humans v. reapers to me.

Of course, we'll need allies... humans can't do it alone.

We don't know what is going with other planets. Anyways, do you really think that the reapers would wipe out humanity and then go away? No, they would go to wipe out the other races as well.

Why the hell are they still there after a week?

They obliterate all resistance in a couple of hours, move on and take out the next planet. come back for civilian harvest later.

Its about more than earth. Earth is the rallying call, Shepard shows pictures of Reaper ships devastating human cities to the council and says;

'You see this, this is happening right now and unless you do something about it, this will happen to you!'

Everyone finally gets on the same page and theres a big huge fight over earth between the reapers and the council races plus whoever else Shepard can get onboard.

For those saying space marine coming to earth to save the day has been done before - how often is that marine at the head of a alien armada?

just like how they got onboard after edan prime and just how they got onboard after the several other human colonies. Definitally a good chance they will get on board this time for a human matter.

The full trailer explicitly says that Shepard's mission is to get help for Earth. That means more exploring.

Also, it's perfectly logical for this to happen. They've set this up for a long time. Humanity has the attention of the Reapers, and they were planning to attack Earth first.

Lets see, we need to go get our troops. How many missions could that be, lets see...

Geth

Quarians

Council

Omega

Rachni

Krogan

Theres 5-6 missions depending on if they combine the Quarian/Geth quest.

Then we have to do some opening tutorial mission and lead up mission to the last conflict.

The finally earth.

Story-wise you're looking at 9 Main missions and who knows how many side missions.

Why can't you ever just be happy Vaenier? Why?

The reapers attacked Earth first because it resonates best on an emotional level. They stay to kill civilians because it makes you, as a player, angry. When did Mass effect become the "Space General's Guide to Intergalactic Warfare?"

And because Earth represents the majority of the human race, in population, and military power.

Even with some absurdley pumped up estimates, assuming that there are thousands of colonies the size of Terra Nova, that's only 4.4 billion colonists compared to 12.6 billion on Earth, just a bit more than 1/3 of the population is living in space with those estimates.

The actual percent of people in the colonies could easily be lower than 10% if certain other figures are right.

Well, remember that Shepard represented humanity when he took down Saren and his Reaper master. It gained the attention of the Reapers and they thought that humanity made something to offer and decided to use us as Reaper ingredients. Shepard kick the Collectors arses and at the end of ME2 Harbinger stated that "your species now has the attention of those infinitely your greater. That which you know as Reapers are your salvation through destruction." The pieces fall into place: the Reapers are not only curious about humanity, but see as a threat.

Yeah that makes since I just hope that like most are saying this is still a explore the galaxy type game not oh we must save the Earth!  So we have to fight them off the whole ****ing game! I still want to be able to explore hell maybe be ABLE TO EXPLORE THE CITADEL! and have a good experience...also is anyone else worried EA might be influencing Mass Effects direction in a bad way?  Because I am.
