So Mass Effect is now about Humans vs Reapers?

And leave themselves open to all those "other guys" all the while? Focus on one race while ignoring the rest of the entire Galaxy that could stand up against them?Dimiye wrote...
I'm betting that they might just think humans are the most dangerous group out there and want us out of the way first, then they'll move onto those other guys.
The Reapers can do better than that.

But I can only see two possible outcomes, either Earth falls first and is unsaveable, or preferably with alot of other strategic planets throughout the galaxy, say all council homeworlds? Then the rest of the game is spent building a massive fleet to block the invasion at multiple fronts and participating in at least one of those major battles. Or the way less cool option, the Reapers invade Earth but somehow are very slow about wiping it out and only go to a couple other planets not too far away and the rest of the game is spent creating that fleet to go back and retake Earth. That wouldn't make much sense for ALL of the Reapers to be chillin on Earth for any extended period of time. And look at WWII an infantesimle fraction of the scale and even that had multiple major theaters of war, how could the whole reaper invasion be so concentrated and still be an invasion of the galaxy.
Like I said before, we went from saving the galaxy, to saving human colonies, and the next predictable step in the progression would be we're saving Earth. But hopefully that's not the case so let's all give BioWare the benefit of the doubt, and hope they really pull the rug out from under us on this one!

I have given alot of thought into taking over the galaxy to harvest its sapiant civilizations and it annoys me to see such sloppy work. I expect perfection from immortal gods. I want to see logic ruling emotions, and all i get is pride and anger from a bunch of toasters...TheBestclass wrote...

Why the hell are they still there after a week?
They obliterate all resistance in a couple of hours, move on and take out the next planet. come back for civilian harvest later.
Why can't you ever just be happy Vaenier? Why?
The reapers attacked Earth first because it resonates best on an emotional level. They stay to kill civilians because it makes you, as a player, angry. When did Mass effect become the "Space General's Guide to Intergalactic Warfare?"

Really, when you think about it, this doesn't come as much of a surprise. I think we all knew that Earth would eventually be in danger.

Yeah, its not enough to say a person is wrong, you have to say why. Otherwise you are just trolling.

Reapers use 1-shot-only deus ex tech to jump their fleet from dark space to Sol. Surprise!
Arcturus fleet + Normandy SR2 relay to fight a covering action for fleeing/evacuating civilian ships - human fleet has a plan to fall back to citadel and deus ex-off switch (using omega relay lockout research) relays within 6 months conventional flight time from Earth. Normandy SR2 shot down or disabled in low Earth orbit during covering action for evac transports - Shepard goes down amidst an urban war zone, while surviving Alliance fleet FTLs from orbit.
*This provides a plot device for arbitrarily killing ME2 squaddies not included in ME 3 "in the crash." Import utility runs a check against all survivors from ME2, shows everyone not tapped to be in ME 3 being killed or reports them killed. ME2 carry-overs "survive the crash" and are initial squaddies.*
Mass Effect 3 Splash Screen
Act 1
Shepard gathers with scattered Marine units fighting against Reaper ground forces (comprised husks, indoctrinated humans, gene-jacked ancient races (some biotic) etc). Renegade and Paragon decisions are made regarding tactical benefit vs saving lives, how to deal with collaborators and indoctrinated etc.
Shepard engages in set-piece major battles at first (back dropped by glorious vistas of urban war) and fights much as a "normal marine." Initial squaddies are introduced here.
Eventually battles become about covert/guerilla/insurgency actions.
Shepard and crew run into an Alliance general/admiral. General insists Shepard can't change the outcome of the insurgency, and is needed at the Citadel to rally the other races and the Alliance fleet. Shepard is the last home for humanity. General has the code to let SR2 transit Jump Zero.
Shepard and squad go on missions to secure parts etc to get Normandy SR2 online to fly.
Normandy SR2 is repaired, flies at stealth into orbit, FTLs to jump zero under reaper pursuit, jumps clear using code to join suriviving alliance fleet at citadel....
Act 1 Ends

Shepard on citadel. Council is freaking out about what to do, frozen in standard bureaucratic fashion. Anti-human aliens spouting off about humans getting what they deserve for expanding too far too fast, talk of appeasement with reapers, talk of their own problems, talk of ignoring problem etc. Human fleet treated like quarian parasites.
Shepard must solve various existing conflicts between other races and build good will towards humanity. Conflicts can be solved in paragon or renegade fashion (make nice or slap down/deceive one side or the other. These include True Geth vs Quarians, Batarians vs Human Colonies maybe a second Turian civil war (moderate faction vs militant/nationalist faction), Cerberus vs Alliance in exile, United Terminus Races vs Council etc etc etc. Outcome of these conflicts decides final composition of fleet. During this time Shepard picks up squaddies as result of the associated missions.
Completion of optional sidequests aid the research and development of higher tech weapons shields etc for the combined fleet, like SR2 upgrades in ME 2.
As final fleet is assembled at citadel a reaper "scout force" (Say maybe 5 reapers) reaches Eden Prime or somewhere else - combine fleet relays in with their shiny new ships and guns and there is an epic battle. Reaper scouts are zergged and destroyed, "myth of invincibility" = SHATTERED. Shepard partakes in this battle by fighting boarding actions either defensive or offensive or maybe ground actions on the attacked colony.
With this victory, end of Act 2.

Shepard and combined fleet relay into SOL and engage the Reapers in glorious battle. Fight is going OK. Epic scenes of Normandy swooping through battle in true frigate form. Boarding actions are fought against reapers by player. Jump Zero is liberated as a major mission by player. Mars liberated in major ground action by player.
Fleet assembles at Mars to finish the fight over Earth.
Fleet FTL into Earth Orbit. Reapers and fleet engage. But...
ITS A TRAP!
Reapers have a death star (not actual death star) and start stomping the combined fleet with it. Shepard must punch through the line of battle in SR2 and land with marines+squaddies on big nasty reaper super weapon to disable from within. Weapon core is set to explode by Shepard but attempt to escape to SR2 is blocked by Harbinger who has assumed direct control of some nasty horrible boss (not terminator.)
BOSS FIGHT. (Meanwhile, fleet is starting to gain an edge against reapers now that the death star (not actual) is disabled. Epic fleet cut-scenes interspersed in the Boss Fight.
Harbinger avatar defeated by Shepard. Harbinger (actual) pummeled and destroyed by fleet. Shepard escapes big evil reaper death star (not actual) as it epically explodes. Sans Harbi, reapers are disoriented and very disturbed by losses to this point. Survivors FTL away.
We'll be back...

In a dark room, a clone of VIGIL comes online.
A holo-screen flashes on showing the final battle over Earth, the reapers fleeing. Spouts random statistics and techonobable etc etc.
A long tube slides hissing out of a wall. It slowing slides open dramatically. A strange sleeping alien in a fancy and very fascist-fancy (think south american dicator) uniform blinks, struggles to sit up - and sees the holo-screen.
Vigil2 speaks.
My Lord, it has been 52,324 years since the your hibernation. Our remote sensors indicate scenario 3-alpha - organic species have risen in successful resistance of the Reapers. I have awakened you as per protocol for command authority. What are you orders my lord?
Prothean General - "Begin waking the brethren. If the machines are defeated then the exile fleet shall return from dark space.
Holo screen shows image of Shepard.
These! primitive creatures brought down the reapers?
Vigil2 "In accordance with with scenario 3-alpha predictions, it would appear that these small civilizations only managed to survive by extremely good fortune. Probability of this outcome was very low."
Prothean General - They will serve their masters as their lesser predecessors. These filthy creatures shall not inherit what is rightfully ours.
The Empire will be restored.

I would very much like to believe that Mass Effect 1-3 is the First Trilogy of a Trilogy of Trilogies. (9 Games in all, three story arcs, three distinct protagonists) to be released 1 trilogy per console generation for the next 2 generations of consoles.
I understand that decisions cannot carry between trilogies (just TOO many variables) but it would be cool if you could export your final "canon" shepard from ME3 to ME4 to at least show her face and some filler story based on her final disposition and choices (happily ever after or hitler ever after, as it were) in the opening of ME 4.

Hey wait...what if you didn't survive ME2's final mission? Re-Resurrection?
You won't be able to use that save to continue ME3. Unfortunately. You'll have to make a new Shepard in ME3 with a default history, or replay ME2 for an ending where Shepard doesn't die.

Shepard can die but really only if you intentionally plan to have her die. This being so there shouldn't be any hard feelings about not being able to import dead-shep saves.
