If this is true, then it is very disappointing. I realize we only have one clothing slot, but we should at least have a crap-ton of outfits to choose from.
He's joking.
Hawke's clothing is just like the PC's in DA:O.

Less legs? Do you *know* how booty shorts look? I'm not trying to be offensive.
Of course I do, I'm wearing some right now.
My point was more at the fact you can see more of Isabela's legs in her current outfit, I mean you don't get a full unobstructed view of her butt and what not, especially in fast moving combat. The main thing the outfit shows off is her legs.
Not really. The flap is actually a decent length. You just get the slit that shows off some of her legs.
And meh. I'm not overly fond of staring at female character's legs. Though I did stare at Fran in envy, Isabela just irks me. Something about Fran struck me as elegant despite her clothing, Isabela just makes me cringe.
And yeah I never got to like Zev despite doing his romance twice and his friendship three times. I always felt dirty.
And honestly if I get one DAT ASS shot I will never recruit her. Honestly that was the single most irrtating thing in ME.

Well, yes, strictly speaking the dwarf models were shorter than the humans, but the single frame caused a lot of problems.Addai67 wrote...

It meant that pretty much everyone looked wierd, animations were severely limited and a lot of clothes never really fitted properly. A female city elf in massive armour looked like she's fallen in.

We aren't talking about something that we had no control over before, like VO or story, rather something that was possible to modify before and no longer will be. Taking away player choice means you have fewer options to make the game suit you versus what suits some artist at BioWare.
Yeah, and it's CRIMINAL that we don't have an NPC we can NAME any more. We need a dog! THEY'RE TAKING AWAY MY CHOICES. It's a slippery slope, I tell you.
Frankly I find this entire argument silly. There are threads on here complaining that it was ridiculous that you could make Wynne a blood mage. More choice != worthwhile choice. We get a lot more possible hairstyles now than we did in older games, but usually there's still only one I like. If I'm not even that lucky, I just do what I always did before: tune it out and enjoy what there is in the game to enjoy.
Bully for you that it's not a big priority in your DA world, but it's not your $60 paying for my game.

The rig is the same, which takes some femininity from the form, but the body is not the same.

It wasn't. If you take the dwarf female, elf female and human female model and scale them to match each other, you will notice differences -- using the human as base and commoner clothes as example, elf has smaller bust and thinner torso and arms. Dwarf has larger bust, much thicker arms, torso and thighs, and larger breasts.ziggehunderslash wrote...

The differences aren't large but they are there.

Regardless, all you're really saying is that it's a step up to have a separate female rig. I thought so, too, until I saw that that meant our female characters would have to carry around watermelons. Frankly I'd much prefer the slim hips and oversized- but- not- porn- sized breasts from DAO. I'd even take it with the linebacker shoulders versus the female bodies I'm seeing.
All that seems immaterial to the subject of companion armors, though. They are still going to have to make female and male models of armor or else Hawke wouldn't be able to change outfits. So why not for companions?

It also depended a lot on what outfit they were wearing, too--some of the outfits would make the neck/shoulders/hips look feminine, and some others made them look like an effeminate man with breasts. Of course some outfits on the guys made them look like they were studying to be a turtle.

Completely agree here, the uneccesary camera angles of Miranda's butt (although less frequent than some make them out to be) were annoying, particularly so because I actually really liked her character and could have done without that aspect of her being shoved in my face to such a degree.
Now a tasteful or appropriate shot that takes in Isabela's curves I have no problem with, it just has to fit the scene and whatnot.
As for Zev, well I actually found his romance kind of sweet really. He was a surprisingly complex guy.

It doesn't really because the rigs for individual races also vary in proportions of individual bones. The "it's all one body just rescaled" thing simply isn't true.ziggehunderslash wrote...

Erm, this depends on how you define "the same". You can tell whether a skeleton is male or female just from the way the pelvis is shaped, and there's enough difference in weight distribution that the head-on-the-wall chair trick works pretty universally on guys and DOESN'T work pretty universally on women.
But the slightest stiffening in animation can make women look really masculine, it's weird.

We've mostly seen Ladyhawke in the heavy armour so far, so it's hard to tell her size.Maria Caliban wrote...

edit: since you can equip regular clothes on the PC though, if the average population of DA2 comes with watermelons then Ladyhawke in the same outfit will look just as them.

Personally, I think Bethany's breasts look overly large in some screenshots primarily because in that one outfit she's got a really narrow torso profile, it's like she's wearing a bustier. Isabela doesn't look quite so disproportional even in her pantsless getup.
