10 years most people people will wear the exact same thing ... I'd be ok with it if there was at least 3 different outfits for each character, but this is just stupid

That's concept art. Here's a screenshot.

Isn't that from a cinematic trailer or something?  I haven't been following TOR that closely, despite the fact I'll almost certainly try it, ever since I realized it wasn't Pre-CU SWG 2.0.

I really dislike the art style of TOR.  I think it just looks hideous.

I get why they're doing it. But (here you go, Maria) Conan's graphics spoiled me. Well, not as much as it's combat will likely make me feel that TOR's is slow paced and dull by comparison.

So Isabela and Bethany are that well-endowed... for story purposes?  Oh, I've got to hear this one.

Arguably, Isabela's appearance does reflect her role in the story as love interest.

I actually don't understand why Bethany or Carver look the way they do.

And that's what you call fanservice, isn't it?  I meant, there can't be a character-related reason why she looks like two watermelons on a toothpick.  If there is, I'd love to hear it.

Link me (in PM if you wish) to an image of a woman with Isabela/Bethany sized boobs who you believe is proportioned reasonably enough to not warrant the description "watermelons on a toothpick."  Purely for research purposes, I really don't need help finding this stuff on my own for... entertainment.

When I think of watermelons on a toothpick I think of pornstars with bolt-ons whose names I'm going to pretend to not remember.

Yes, her character related reason to to increase her perceived attractiveness because the character is supposed to come off as sexy and desirable.

While I'm at it, she doesn't look like two watermellons on a *toothpick* to me. The rest of her is curvy as well.

Ohh I love her hair! Yeah I've avoided most of the TOR information, though I am in a guild and all for it simply because I don't want to keep trying to compare the lead-up to launch to that of SWG's. The nostalgia, it hurts sometimes.

Dude, you think looking at lingerie shots is my idea of a good Friday evening?  LOL  But, offhand, here is one.  She's not quite as busty as Isabela or Bethany, but she could stand to be a little fuller up top and not look like she's going to fall over.

I think we're experiencing a failure to communicate.  What I mean by character reasons is that Isabela tells you a story about how all the women in her family have freakishly large boobs or you find out she's stuffing that lace-up top.  Not design reasons.

And somehow Leliana and Morrigan managed to be considered attractive LIs without the melons.

You want in-setting reasons for the size of her breasts? I find that a bit unreasonable. That's like saying that you want characters to give you a 'reason' why they're dark skinned, or tall, or male other than simple genetics.

The way characters look is based on what the design team wants to convey about them. Isabela's clothing and large chest are obviously meant to show that she's sexy and available.*

And somehow Leliana and Morrigan managed to be considered attractive LIs without the melons.

Morrigan had melons. Leliana had melons depending on what you dressed her in.

*Holy crap, this post is on topic.

...yet the breasts in Origins were also "freakishly large." They don't seem that way because the bodies were broader than what is realistic.

Not going to argue with the facts of how most people percieve large breasts, but I still find it really weird that breast size, a function of genetics, is something society attaches meaning to.

I honestly just wanted to see where she was coming from.

So there are no thin yet busty women you'd deem realistic?  Is it that they are too rare to be considered?  The product of photoshop and surgery?  I mean, I don't consider Isabela or Bethany "normal" by any stretch of the definition but as Maria said, she's got curves elsewhere.

Addai67 wrote...

That we can definitely agree on.  But to me, the physical attributes of a character don't really get on my nerves - in the sense of "I'm being patronized" - until the camera starts doing my oggling for me.  That's just unsettling.

So that means they should be even larger?

@Upsettingshorts, yes to photoshop and surgery.  And really, really good bras would be needed too.

WTF, why do I always get into these discussions.  *sigh*  The melons bother me, but as part of the general direction moving the game more towards comic/ over the top elements and because I'd like to be able to look at the females in the game without shaking my head.

Now I need to go find a good dialogue wheel whining thread to post on.

I was responding to the claim that it's not fanservice.  But maybe I don't know what that term means (possible).
