Any news as to whether there will be more than two choices of outfit for companions or is it more likely to be DLC outfits like ME2?. I'm hoping for some similar DLC, I can't wait to see Varric, Bethany & Fenris in sunglasses.

so long as they allow me some degree of customization, I'll be happy.

I love that. The best is the leather jacket for the dwarf. I was wondering why every character have armour... I mean same armour for everyone? That was damn boring-_-. In BG2 we had concept art in information tab so we could imagine how it looks on character, and every concept of uncommon item was different. That was cool, but DA2 outfits are just marvellous.  Imho ofc. :wizard:

I would imagine alternative outfits are going to be something for a DLC if they do them at all.

So, "cold hard logic" dictates that anyone going into battle in DA without large amounts of dexterity is a fool.

I have to agree with this, most of the time my high Dexterity characters fought just fine while my high Armor Rating characters died a horrible death in the same encounter on the same difficulty.

High AC + Shatter Armor/Sunder Armor = a dead fool.

High Dex + anything = Win.

High Dex + Evasion = sit around and hope for a lucky 1/5 chance to not be Om-nom-nom'd

Mage + Arcane Warrior = Abrams main battle tank fighting a swarm of snails.

All of this according to game mechanics that establish the setting combat wise in game.
Save the "realism" for Gaider novels and Fan Fiction.  :P

I started playing yesterday and while I like the game so far for the most part, the thing that really annoys me is the fixed outfits. it's badbadbaaaaaaad!!! Especially since you find all that cool gear on your travels..and you just can't use most of it. I hate it so much. since they decided to use fixed outfits they shouldn't make you find outfits. that way at least you're not annoyed avery time you find something you will never be able to use or even see. Also, as a sidebote, the inventory icons really suck imho.
but at least the characters are pretty cool so far.

What do you think of fixed companion outfits? I like them as I think they add to the personality of the character. I also understand they're less resource intensive. For example, the developers have suggested that if Sten wasn't a party member, the qunari in Origins would have had horns. Because he was, and because you could dress him as you pleased, they would have had to make a unique Sten-only version of all the helmets in game.

At the same time, why not just get rid of his ability to wear a helmet? I mean, he's a guy with horns. That seems like a logical reason to not allow the PC to give him one.

So far, the only armor I like is Aveline's change.

I have to hunt down the extras to give to my companions when honestly, I'd rather just put on them the gazillion pieces of armor my mage can't wear.

I don't like the fixed armour because all the loot I pick up is now vendor trash. It sucks when you find a cool helmet for a warrior but I'm a rogue so hey just one more thing for the junk pile.

I'll admit... prior to the release I didn't mind the idea of companions having armor that is static.

However, having played some 20+ hours now in the game, I find myself frequently frustrated and annoyed that I find so many cool pieces of armor, but have to sell them because my character can't use them and I can't put them on any of my teammates.

I did not realize how much I would miss the satisfaction of finding a cool item that made my party members tougher until it was taken away.

As it stands, finding items now 80% of the time is an entirely boring, depressing experience unless it happens to be for my character.
