So, "cold hard logic" dictates that anyone going into battle in DA without large amounts of dexterity is a fool.
I have to agree with this, most of the time my high Dexterity characters fought just fine while my high Armor Rating characters died a horrible death in the same encounter on the same difficulty.
High AC + Shatter Armor/Sunder Armor = a dead fool.
High Dex + anything = Win.
High Dex + Evasion = sit around and hope for a lucky 1/5 chance to not be Om-nom-nom'd
Mage + Arcane Warrior = Abrams main battle tank fighting a swarm of snails.
All of this according to game mechanics that establish the setting combat wise in game.
Save the "realism" for Gaider novels and Fan Fiction.

What do you think of fixed companion outfits? I like them as I think they add to the personality of the character. I also understand they're less resource intensive. For example, the developers have suggested that if Sten wasn't a party member, the qunari in Origins would have had horns. Because he was, and because you could dress him as you pleased, they would have had to make a unique Sten-only version of all the helmets in game.
At the same time, why not just get rid of his ability to wear a helmet? I mean, he's a guy with horns. That seems like a logical reason to not allow the PC to give him one.
So far, the only armor I like is Aveline's change.
I have to hunt down the extras to give to my companions when honestly, I'd rather just put on them the gazillion pieces of armor my mage can't wear.

However, having played some 20+ hours now in the game, I find myself frequently frustrated and annoyed that I find so many cool pieces of armor, but have to sell them because my character can't use them and I can't put them on any of my teammates.
I did not realize how much I would miss the satisfaction of finding a cool item that made my party members tougher until it was taken away.
As it stands, finding items now 80% of the time is an entirely boring, depressing experience unless it happens to be for my character.
