I dunno, Kal El's willpower is far superior to Bruce's I mean c'mon how many times has a brainwashed or magically controlled Superman turned on the Justice League or Bats specifically and Supes still didn't kill his rich ass?

The only thing Bats can count on in fight with Supes is that Supes is gonna hold himself back in some manner even if the fight is a forced fight. But nevertheless the day Supes loses it and really truly doesn't care anymore is the day Bats dies.

Alright...

Grey Warden Bruce Wayne versus an Indoctrinated Kal-El.... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand GO!

mmm... I'm not completely sure about that. I mean, yeah, obviously Superman is powerful (ridiculously so, especially in the movies, which is one reason I don't like him as a comic book character [too "perfect"]), and if it was a contest of superpowers obviously Superman would win.

The comics/fights I'm referring to are intense fights, where Superman was either brainwashed as you suggested, or they had such angry disagreements that they had to settle it with blows. In that case, Superman holding back may be a viable excuse for losing, but at the same time, even holding back he theoretically have no trouble dealing with a human.

The main reason Batman has won each time is that Bruce Wayne is one of the most intelligent heroes in comic book history, only being rivaled by super-geniuses or others who actually have brain-powers such as Professor Xavier. Each time, especially in the one comic I remember, Batman outsmarted Superman at every turn, using Superman's attacks/strengths against him.

Superman has brawn and powers, but thats pretty much all he has. He isn't as SKILLED of a fighter as Batman.

Thats where I gotta call a hard draw, they've both had to Master their bodies. Kal El's "tactile telekinesis", aka Super strength, was something he had to learn how to properly use his body as subtely as possible while Bruce had to learn how to push his body to the very limit. Both are set in their use of Willpower as Bruce has to mentally overcome any physically limitation while Kal has to

Dork factor ALERT! Superman is weak to magic... so a blood magic Hawke or the Warden might stand a remote chance depending on what power-level superman we're talking about (power is drastically effected by writer).

That said, Thor kills Hawke, the warden, Superman, and Batman while holding a mug of mead in one hand.Image IPB

The recent Godhunter mini was pretty wicked. But I've loved him since childhood. Was tickled pink when he replaced Silver Surfer in the Planet Hulk movie, wicked wicked battle. Just pure awesome.

Lol, that was a great scene. Looked like he was going to win... if it wasn't for that lucky dagger shot.

My take on the whole Batman vs Superman stuff going on can be summed up in one encounter of theirs. Wish I still had the scan of it. They are in some argument/disagreement and Bats goes to take a swing at Supes, who effortlessly and easily dodges out of the way. Supes then sternly looks Bruce in the face and flat out tells him "Next time I won't move". Implying he's going to break his hand next time he tries to act all hard.

Batman is so overrated in DC that it is sickening. Same goes for Wolverine in Marvel.

On topic of Staffang: Would be interesting to see some sort of follow up story or codex one day about the boy the farmers found.

If Starfang could kill Superman, Superman could likely sense it, fly around the planet to reverse time (something that never made sense in the movie) to a point where the Warden didn't posess Starfang, then kill the warden.

Yeah, Superman is cheap like that. I never liked Superman.

@Esbatty- haha yep^_^. Getting drawn into comic book discussions is an unavoidable reality of life in game forums :D

Then again, the fact that the title of this topic and the first post mention Superman probably had a lot to do with starting a comics discussion.

And yes, to everyone else who mentioned it, Phoenix (especially Dark Phoenix) pwns all.

Oh, and I completely forgot that Superman is weak to magic. Good point...

EDIT:  (because I just saw a previous post after posting this)

@Andferne- Given that, I have to attribute different encounters/results to different writers and artists in different eras depicting different stories. Its one of the problems I have with comics, as things can get retconned all the time and that there is no continuity at times, no precedent, so that you'll have stories of Batman pwning Superman, Superman pwning Batman, and stories of ties. I personally like the stories of Superman being pwned more because I hate him as a character and I personally don't think Batman is overrated at all, but all viewpoints are acknowledged because, as I said, the stories change all the time with new eras/artists/writers/etc.

A lot of the "Superman would totally win" posts are based on Superman doing something he doesn't do: kill people.

How else would he defeat Doomsday? He tried to kill him before he was killed didn't he?

4th wall breaking humor is great and both Deadpool and the Metal Gear series has pulled it off well.  From BigBoss telling you to abort and shut off the console in the first game and past Psycho Mantis in MGS.
