They still have to account for the possibility, though, and provide alternative squadmates if necessary.  That's a lot of characters, and a LOT of disk space.  I just don't see how they can do it, UNLESS they spread the game across 3 disks.

Don't get me wrong; I hope you're right.  I want to be able to recruit Garrus, Tali, and Miranda, in particular.

Oh yeah, I admit that having everybody come back is a bit absurd (a team of twelve is already huge), and I actually won't mind if everyone gets cameo'd so long as they do a good job with it (more Wrex/Liara post-LOTSB, less Horizon/Liara pre-LOTSB).  I'm just saying that people shouldn't get all down in a funk about it and treat "no one's coming back" as a fact.  We don't have enough evidence either way.

These boards are too pessimistic.  Having high hopes may lead to a letdown in the end, but it makes the wait more fun.

I think so.

They had to limit his role in ME2 because he could be dead (http://www.joystiq.c...-mass-effect-2/). They have the same problem with all ME2 squaddies.

True, but putting all that work into the ME2 squadmates with no intention of bringing them back seems like a waste, especially since the whole game was about recruiting them, gaining their loyalty, and making an effort to get them out alive.  Besides, Bioware already puts tons of resources on a lot of content a lot of people will never experience, either through player decisions or the final cuts before shipping.

Like I said, I'm okay with well-done cameos, but you never know.

I would be rather surprised if more than 14% killed Wrex in ME1 (and he was the most popular ME1 squaddie...cameo land)

One cameo isn't really enough precedent to say how things are going to turn out.

Yet they still couldn't do any better with Wrex? IMO the final insult was how similiar the name of the other possible leader was. 2 different letters in name - about 2 meaningfully different lines

*Imagining everyone getting the same treatment as Wrex/VirmireS, except now it's about 12 times worse because there's more people to account". It is really depressing how little the decisions matter

Also, our team in ME2 was supposed to be composed of the most kickass freelancers in Citadel space.
It wouldn't make much sense if now, for the even bigger threat, we have to rely on the second best, as long as the best are still alive.

There was actually a big difference between Wrex and Wreav. Not only their dialogue, but also that of some of the other Krogans in Clan Urdnot. The whole poilitical aim of Clan Urdnot is different and I don't think Shepard will have much of a Krogan army at his disposal if he disposed of Wrex, since Wreav isn't a big picture guy and probably won't join the fight against the Reapers until the Reapers reap Tuchanka.

Tali. ='(

please.

She is perhaps the most popular character in the series, i'd say she has a decent shot at returning. But nothing is a given, because Wrex was just as loved in ME1, and he didn't make the cut in ME2.

You sir have given me Hope:devil:

Wrex was one of the only 3 squadmates who risked death in ME1. In ME2 everyone can die, so her chances to return are the same of anyone else. Plus she's one of the most popular character of the series and she might have a key rhole in the Geth\\\\\\\\Quarian conflict. And BW teased about the chance to see her face in chase you make her Shep's LI with the cutscene about that in ME2.

"Hope"... I guess soon one of us will see that claim dismissed. No offence, off course.

Look what working with that spectre in LOTSB brought...

A team can only have 1 leader. If it turns into Power Rangers everyone's doing what they feel like. Although that was already the attitude of many squadmates

Maybe Garrus and Tali will return as squadmates. Maybe. I wouldn't count on any of seeing any of the ME2 squaddies in anything more than cameos, though.

Bioware potentially killed off everyone in ME 2...except Joker. Shepard dies before him.

Now that I think about it, maybe Miranda will come back too. You really have to work at killing her off in ME2. So, in summary:

All but guaranteed: Liara, Kaidan/Ashley
Maybe: Garrus, Tali, Miranda

Everyone else is doubtful to return as squadmates. Cameos only.

I'm salivating at the thought of having Shiala on my team.

*Dreaming* If Nihlus somehow made it I'd be in disbelief but wouldn't care.

Miranda and Garrus are the hardest to kill, Tali instead has really hight chances to die in the Suicide Mission, but due to their popularity and subplots involments I count that these three are the most possible returns.

She'd need something of interest in return or the Reapers F_g with her for that to happen I think.

One’s I’d like to see comeback

Tali

Garrus

Mordin

Legion but I’m fine if he is an npc

Joker but he’s the pilot so he has to be there

Chakwas she’d been in it from 1 why wouldn’t she come back for 3 barring mental breakdown

Samara but will most likely be an npc

Ashly she was a tank in 1 if she still is I want her on my ship IF she can convince me.

Gavon he seems rather battle hardened I wouldn’t mind a second Turrian

One’s I don’t want on my ship

Kolyat he’s a teen or young adult at best w/ zero fighting or training I need solider not children

Shiala while a neat npc she said it herself her biotics are unstable and therefore a liability to me

Kaiden I’ve found better biotics he’d be a last resort regardless of his actions on Horizon

Kal nice guy truly but I think he’d rather stay with the flotilla when the war hits

Hanar….there aren’t many skilled tasks requiring 6arms and no fingers also hanar can’t fight so well out of water.

No Oriana because I know somewhere someone wants this…she’s no fighter.

Jack she’s a civilian with anger issues not a solider she can go

Miranda a great if cold secretary she’s not a solider no matter how perfect she’s not the front lines type

Aria is a solo kind of girl not so team friendly it’s a cold day in hell when she starts fallowing orders

Prothean come on they’re dead like Elvis just face it

Birdmen

Kirik

I could go on but as of right now the Nos have it.

I don't want to admit it but I'm most excited (and I guess worried) about what will happen with Miranda. I know I know, controversial character, but what can I say? She's my favorite character of all time.

Agreed, very objective analysis. If Tali wasn't so popular then yes, chances are she wouldn't get one of the bigger roles in ME3 however given the fan reaction...

Garrus and Miranda, I didn't realize how hard it was to kill Garrus but the only way to kill Miranda is to have her die while holding the rear position or to have her die while helping you defeat the baby reaper. So IMO she has just as much a chance of returning in ME3 as Kaidan or Ashley do.

Edit: Apologies for double post.

Woohoo, all new recruitment missions peoplez!1!1!11!!!!1

(face it, nobody who can canonically die and isn't essentially interchangeable with another character won't come back.)
