Beyond that I'd really like some fresh recruits: A batarian and a female turian, potentially one from that new bird race thingy, a Yagh may be nice, or not, and finally the most important one: An elcor comedian with the meanest canon mounted on its back. Make it Bioware, now!

And for the people that want Ash/Alenko they would still be in depending on your choice from ME1.
I think the end result would be pretty interesting to see especially when you factor in how you ended ME2 and what that would lead to as far as your Cerberus members teaming up with Ashley.
Bioware could still include some new party members specific to ME3 but I do not want to start back at square one again and recruit a brand new team.
*Edit* Garrus better be part of the crew for ME3 or I will be very sad.

But for the sake of depth and retaining the connection to ME2, I'd rather they stick with the same team and delve further into their histories.
This.

A Batarian - to break the stereotype.
A female drell/krogan/turian/salarian - to counter the severe lack of female aliens (that aren't asari or quarian).

None of the Dead will return as Squadies outside DLC.
Stop thinking of those that may replace and come up with more original ideas on who the New Squad is that will be intergrated into the ME3 story from start to finish regardless on what you did in previous games.

That's a line Bioware wasn't afraid to cross with certain characters in DA2. You could decapitate them in DAO, but they came back in seemingly important story roles later on in the sequel. One potentially dead teammate from Awakening was a teammate again in DA2.
Does this have any effect on your conviction that ME2 squadmates won't return in ME3?

idk why people are naming off characters that could have potentially died in either Mass Effect 1 or 2.
This is true. Which means not many characters from either game are likely to return as viable teammates.
Samara
Jack
Jacob
Mordin
Grunt
Ashley
Kaiden
Thane
Legion
Zaeed
I never did like the 'roll the dice and see who dies' aspect at the end of ME2. It seems likely we may be getting a new team. Again.

Well, the DA team brought many people back from the dead even despite your choices, so...
Yep. With the current lack of any other information, from looking at their most recent example of how they handled teammate deaths in a sequel, I'd have to say the balance of the argument now shifts in favor of at least some returning ME2 characters in Shepard's team for ME3. I was pretty comfortably seated on the fence before DA2, I thought there were excellent arguments both for and against returning squaddies in ME3, but seeing the compromises Bioware was willing to make for the sake of the story, and considering both ME3 and DA2 were in development at the same time and some writers are known to cross over between each project, I really am now expecting some ME2 characters to return--at least until I have more information to consider.

I guess that ME 3 background seems Earth. so I think that we will have more human squadmates than aliens.
I doubt that since 70% of the squad is already human. I would not be suprised if Earth is wiped out in the opening scene in ME3, and the rest of the game istrying to stop the Reapers from wiping out other worlds.
interesting expecially for the ultimate sacrifice fiasco people have talked about...... maybe at the end of arrival dlc it shows reapers invading earth with the london guy..... after that in me3 shepard must sacrifice the earth to save rest of universe

Why does everyone like reegar. The whole notion of Quarians talking like US Marines that dropped out of 5th class in school bugged me from the beginning.
Probably because a lot of people on here are Firefly fans.

You won't be able to. That game will not be transferrable.

It would be kinda cool, if they hadn't messed up his design like this. He looks too similar to a collector and that's kinda dissapointing when remembering the statues on Ilos in Mass Effect 1.
