It's too early to get excited. You'll burn out that way. However this is, in my opinion, the greatest sci-fi epic that video games have ever seen. On top of wanting to know what the reapers are, I really just want to spend more time with Shepard. No matter what you do in the game, he remains a consistantly strong force of stabilty in an otherwise turbulent universe.

It's called cohesion. Of course whatever happens happens, even if those guys only end up being a distraction for Shepard to do his 'super hero, galaxy saving' actions.

I'm guessing the more helps there is, the more time there is for Shepard to do his thing.

I don't think the Rachni use technology.
They have enough brute strength to smash anything.

I agree with your point, too. I don't think we've seen anything that directly says ME3 = ME:MP. It's entirely possible that at the awards tonight that BioWare'll do a double-whammy - ME3 and a multiplayer game.

I'm excited, but to be honest, I wonder about the fast turnaround just as many do with DA2. Its rare for devs to cycle sequels this fast.

Army of armed savages has beaten the Rachni while they were at the full strength ... I am not sure about their chances against race of dreadnoughts.

ME3 likely won't be as big a jump, in terms of improvements/changes, as ME1 to ME2 was. They've got a number of the assets already so all they need to do is create the new ones and piece it together.

DA2 is more worrying because they started development before DA:O released (Which is an incredibly stupid move), whereas ME3's development (As far as I'm aware) has been started after ME2 released.

In December 09, Casey Hudson said that they had already begun working on ME3. Right before DA:O was released, on the old Bioware forums a developer, one of the writers, said they had begun working on DA:2 already. DA:2 doesn't seem to be rushed to me. Neither does ME2. Bioware doesn't have to spend time learning how to optimize the engine or anything this time around, and already have a good source of assets they've created over the course of the first two games. So a late 2011/early 2012 release isn't too fast at all.

YES!!! dude that's what the big announcement is all about with BioWare at the VGA's? ... what are they announcing today... i just read someone say it's only for the PS3 or some **** like that... i know that's false... they're releasing it in 2011 or something?

Honestly I wonder if people here even pay attention to any Bioware says. Don't know about DA2, but they started working on ME3 since before ME2 was even released. That's a good while.

Casey Hudson said times before, ME3 won't take as long to develop as the other two because of a few factors. One, the engine is exactly where they like it. Not much tweaking is needed, and that frees up a lot of time for them. Two, unlike ME1 and ME2, where there are tons of branching paths and choices you make, and outcomes from each of those decisions, ME3 doesn't have this...dilemma. It's the end of the trilogy, so all paths will conclude there. They don't have to worry about continuity into a 4th Mass Effect. That alone they said frees up a good deal of work.

Bioware said ME3 will not take as long as the other games to release. Winter 2011, or January 2012 is more than enough time, and makes perfect sense. That's 2 years development time.
