I'm excited, but to be honest, I wonder about the fast turnaround just as many do with DA2. Its rare for devs to cycle sequels this fast.

In December 09, Casey Hudson said that they had already begun working on ME3. Right before DA:O was released, on the old Bioware forums a developer, one of the writers, said they had begun working on DA:2 already. DA:2 doesn't seem to be rushed to me. Neither does ME2. Bioware doesn't have to spend time learning how to optimize the engine or anything this time around, and already have a good source of assets they've created over the course of the first two games. So a late 2011/early 2012 release isn't too fast at all.

More like condescending. And how the hell do you know the release date of ME3?

It's still a fast turnaround - for both games. Even the devs mentioned this about DA2.

At no point does that article say Gears of War 3 is delayed.

It is delayed, yes, but the article doesn't say that. For all you know the announcement was a PC version of GoW2 + 3 (Yes, I'm still hoping).

We don't, but Ray Muzyka and Casey Hudson said to expect a very similar time frame for ME3's release like ME1 to ME2's time frame, if not sooner.

If they were starting every single thing from scratch, yea, it's a real fast turnaround. But they're not. Everything's already in place.

I don't like it. It's too much of an easy cop out to me. It's a shortcut to finish this thing quickly from the sounds of it which is kind of sad considering there were still plenty of dangling plot threads and unresolved issues in the background that needed more attention, like the Alliance's attitude towards Shepard and some factions within the Alliance wanting to "bring in" Shepard, and many other things. I know that the game isn't out yet and that we shouldn't jump to conclusion just yet but this particular spoiler leaves me with a bad feeling.

Christ, people take an announcement blurb and immediately begin bashing the premise of the game based on a handful of sentences. It's like the SW:TOR forums.

It's nice to see something

But Earth is the focus? Me no like
Reapers are only interested in humans? Me no like
An Alliance Marine no matter my decisions? Me no like
Rally the civilizations? To me that sounds like ME2 style "Go there, recruit them, leave" approach that has about 2-3 hours of actual story

But it sounds like generic hype announcement so I don't take it too seriously

Oh my god

The game isn't even announced yet and people are ****ing.

I should stop coming here.

I bet it will be like this: You travel around the galaxy and try to convince other races to join the fight against reapers.

What a truly inspired notion.

Nobody has ever thought of that before huh?

Wow, our Shepard's really ****** those Reapers off, I'm impressed. I must admit, I'm looking forward to the scene where the council has to eat crow.

I will say that I blame the burning of earth on all those fans who wanted to see our homeworld.

Dev 1: "So what can we do to give the fans what they want, and have it fit within the context of the story

Dev 2: (Evil grin) "Put earth to the torch!"

^ Yeah it probably went like that. But the good news is they didn't say when the Earth was burning maybe we get to land and hangout while its all sunny then the rockets start falling midway through talks on what forces Earth is going to give to the effort. I wonder though will it be as bad as what happened to the human world in Advent Rising?

You know guys, that last barcode they released said "red herring." And then after that, EA "accidentally" lists ME3. Could the barcode have been a warning that the next "clue" was a fake?

Hmmm....

I'm Commander Shepard and this is.... SIXTY BUCKS FOR A PC GAME!?

Be thankful you don't live in Australia. We pay over $100 for anticipated new release titles on PC. And I'm not exaggerating. To be fair, the old currency differences used to make the amounts slightly closer but now it's just sad.

Why don't you buy it from eBay then? Or have some American gift it to you on Steam (to save a lot of money)?

I don't think you understand how currency works. The Australian dollar is worth less than the American dollar. If I gave an Australian a dollar out of my overweight-American pocket, I'd actually be giving the Australian more than a dollar (more like $1.15). Similarly, if an Englishman gave me a pound (the currency in the UK), he'd actually be giving me 1.5 american dollars.

On topic: I just hope BioWare fixes all the problems present in the first 2 games. But in truth, it's no surprise to me there is a third ME game.

You know, I was mulling that particular thought over and over last night............... Probably way out, but EA accidentally making such a massive error just felt *unlikely* iyswim?

People, why are you complainig?! Mass Effect 3 has been announced and it comes out in late 2011! These are good news! How long do you wanna wait for ME 3, huh? I believe in Bioware and i know they won't mess up this game. They've made a lot of good changes in ME 2 and They just need to improve them.

I have only two concerns about ME 3: How the Hell Shepard is suppose to destroy all those Reapers? He's just one man against thousands of Reapers, cause even combined fleets of all galactic civilizations can't stand a chance in the face of Reaper Fleet. As i said before: We need some kind of Superweapon, perhaps the same which killed/destroyed the Reaper 37 milion years ago (Derelict Reaper from ME 2).

My second concern is about gameplay in ME 3. Earth is in fire. There's no time for doing side-quests, scanning planets, collecting minerals, assembling squad, travel through galaxy, killing bad guys etc.. So i'm afraid ME 3 will be a very short game if everything is going to take place on Earth.

I hope not, and that Bioware will give us some logical reason to travel across the galaxy and leave the Earth for the last mission.
