I'd quite like the Queen or King to be harvested. That's assuming of course that we haven't dispensed with the over-priveleged parasites by the time of Mass Effect 3. And on the MW2 thing, even if Mass Effect was set in Washington, it would still be ok because (A) Bioware are from Canada and (
I can't see Mass Effect doing any onesided, borderline-racist patriotism like Call of Duty.
Oh, forget Bioware is from Canada.
Silly me.
Also MW2 was only CoD with US patriotic bollocks.
Unfortunately most of gamers are from US so we foreigners have to get anoyed by that.
Even though I'd like to see Canadian patriotism/nationalism since THAT would be original. Then again there are many Canada haters for some reaosn in US.
Wow WAAAAAAAAAAY off-topic.
Really? I always felt that the IW COD games were more British-centric than American-centric. That is based more on how the story/characters/levels were heavily emphasized a British narrative. Treyarch has the more American-centric COD games starting with WAW. Blacks Ops was a borderline propaganda on the Cold War conflict. Little is even told about how the Cold War was partially about Imperialism/neo-colonialism. Instead we get some ludicrous story about the Big Bad Russians being up to no good again. The way I see it the Cold War was a very grey war and there are no heroes or villain that any reasonable man can pull out of that conflict. Both sides did very bad thing in that War. End Rant.
I'm not for any type jingoism/nationalism/patriotism.(or whatever you want to call it) Mostly because it insults my and any reasonably intelligent patriot of any country. Personally any form of Western jingoism annoys me. I tolerate US jingoism more because I know that not every American thinks this way and that those that do are total morons who can't even justify their narrow-mindedness. I really don't think this is strictly and American characteristic as some would insist and MW2 is a bad example of a game that showcases American Jingoism. COD: BO was far more jingoistic of all COD games in it narrow depiction of the Cold War. (The Whole Cuba Level comes to mind)
As an American, I don't really mind games/films/etc. that have an American perspective as long as it isn't some jingoistic b.s. nor some stereotypical overgeneralization depicting Americans as loud, abrasive, hillbilly morons. I seem to get that vibe from non-Americans
Now that is very off topic.
Don't worry, no patriots here. I'm glad to see ME3 is set in my home country, sure, but I'm also glad it'll have an outside perspective. Britain is pretty crappy in many ways - the parasitic scourge of the royal family, the un-democratic House of Lords, the weather. More recently, we can add the new Conservative government to that list (because Margaret Thatcher did so well) and their Judas-esque Liberal Democrat henchmen.
Incidentally, why do you specify western jingoism as annoying? Is any jingoism good?
Just if Pacificien is watching, this is still on topic, as it's discussing the setting in Mass Effect 3, and its treatment, too.
