Ok I was just thinking if Bioware does set this in earth they are sortve stealing from the Half Life storyline.
In half life earth is invaded by an extremely powerful species (the combine) and no matter what the earths combined armies can do they are defeated in 7 hours by this immensely more powerful species and then many are killed and some are combined with alien tech and turned into soldiers for the combine.
That in itself is not a very original plot though, and I'm sure there'll be more to it in ME3.
Thats true as well.
Half Life was just first thing I could think off.

Ultimately, no jingoism is good. True patriotism is the way to go. There is nothing wrong with loving your country. There is of course something wrong with thinking that your country can do no wrong. I love America, but sh!t needs to change drastically around here. Like most countries around the World, the the wealthy few control all the land, wealth, political power and resources while the majority are perpetually screwed because of ignorance (partially self imposed part malicious deception of the "mainstream" media)Jzadek72 wrote...
Incidentally, why do you specify western jingoism as annoying? Is any jingoism good?
I specify Western Jingoism (or supremacy or Imperialism or even neo-colonialism) because it play a huge part in making sure the "Developing" world remains in perpetual poverty, Civil War and under the control of corrupt despots. (i.e. Paul Kagame) Part of my Cold War rant alludes to this.

If the guy is an Alliance Marine that joins the squad, I might be fine with it. If that guy is Kai Leng, I'll shoot him in the head.
Hint hint
Kai Leng is asian and much more stealthy.

Why would someone hate canada we are the land of the free and the home of the brave and the home of bioware and battlestar galactica.
And home of the Space Channel which continued screening Caprica even when SyFy screwed the pooch.
Again, go Canada. Wish I lived there.
Ah, yes. That. I challenge you to find more than three problems not caused by the Cold War.TheShogunOfHarlem wrote...

Kai Leng seems like he would be a useful party member though.
A covert killer who could kick kasumis ass in stealth any day.

Uh, don't forget, everyone in ME has mixed heritage (i.e. Anderson being part native American and part British is one example). What's to say he isn't part Asian despite being predominantly caucasian?

That's a challenge that I wouldn't give to my worst enemy. It would be easier to list all the problems and blowback that were a result of the Cold War.Jzadek72 wrote...

Really? There's so many, it would be equally impossible.
What really ticks me off it the way that here in the west it is considered a harmless war. Tell that to Somalia, or Afghanistan.

Ugh! I better stop myself. Basically All of Africa, Central and South America, Southeast and Southwest Asia got screwed by the Cold War.

Tell that to Iran or Iraq who went through the longest war of the 20th century aided by the main sides of the cold war.
