You know what?

This proves the "They're going to go after Earth" thing on the Collector ship is not bad writing. In fact, it's a rather nicely done foreshadowing.

We had no idea.

It was too short!  But very interesting.  Very evocative... especially since they used real Earth places.  It seems guaranteed we'll see Earth in ME3.

As much as I love this trailer I cant help but feel that it is giving away too much info.

You didn't see Earth being attacked and Shepard gathering his allies before this? A lot of people expected this.

So... damn that was awesome.

Wild speculation ahoy:

-The invasion of Earth will be ME3's 'Death of Shepard' moment, taking place at the start of the game but not before an introductionary sequence of some sort.

-Shep will be off elsewhere (when has he ever been on Earth since becoming a Spectre afterall) and the Brit in the trailer is elluding to him being on a mission to recruit all the races/armies he can to help fight back all the while Earth is running out of time.

-9 million dead? Our victory in ME2 really does feel hollow now. And that isn't such a bad thing, the start of this game really will leave us with that Empire Strikes Back feeling (the lowest point).

All pretty standard stuff right now really, but nonetheless amazing to see in action. When it finally showed the Reapers landing... Gwah.

Most exciting prospect for me is Bioware using London (and thus the UK) as a setting, it would have been so easy to set this in the US or even China or something (Halo used Africa) but as a native I can't help but love seeing my little island making it's mark on the ME universe. Even if it's mark is essentially being beaten into the ground by an army of Reapers. Stiff upper lip time!

Going to go and listen to the trailer a few thousand times to try and decide if it's Sean Bean or someone now.

Can anyone compare the shot of shepard on the observation deck to the observation deck of the SR2?

I think it may be time to reconsider saving that Collector base... Lol

And killing the Rachni Queen... kind of second guessing that one.

The voice of the British narrator is definitely not Sean Bean as I've seen some speculate. My guesses: Sam Worthington or Michael Fassbender. Not particularly confident and they are both high profile, but I feel like shooting in the dark right now!

Something I noticed: All the reapers look like Sovereign. The end of ME2 had all those different looking reapers.

So, Reapers, with all their technology, actually take longer than 2 hours to disable Earth's defenses and move on? its a simple, jump in, all enemy ships die from just a complete ****ton of reaper firepower. planet is defenseless, so leave a handful in orbit to stop people from running away and move on with blowing up the galaxy...

They should have a multi front battle, take out all the home planets at once.

What are they doing sitting on earth wasting time with killing civilians? seeker swarm and move on.

Perhaps the differant looking reapers are at the other major cities or other colonies.

CGI is expensive. Wouldn't pay too much attention to that!

Yeah this scene will probably be completely different in the game itself, just look at the CGI trailers for the previous ME games.

It IS curious as to why the Reapers would a) Take so long to destroy Earth and B) Bother razing it to the ground when other fleets and such are out there to pacify first. Maybe this will prove very inaccurate and merely represents the fact that Earth does get attacked, or maybe there is something more at play here.

One extra thing I noticed:

The British guy knows who Shepard is and knows it is up to him to save the day, but doesn't know what a Reaper is. The Alliance must still be denying that they exist along with the Council races - more arguments with Turian Councillor ahoy!

Communications have probably been blocked so no-one else may even know about the attack. Also it could be to lure certain people or humanity who the reapers consider their biggest threat. Remember the reapers have been doing this a while so they probably know what they are doing

At any rate I expect to see the council dismissing that they dismissed the reaper threat come game release, can't wait :)

I agree, I love the choice of London.  Seeing all those Reapers hovering above it gave me a bit of a Doctor Who feeling, haha.

It looks like it has a tail. Anyone else have that impression?

Maybe a husk of a previously defeated race??

No tail.  That's a leg as it falls over.

Edit: The enemy that the sniper shot is being discussed here.
