Until/unless we hear otherwise, I move that from this moment on we refer to our mystery sniper as Big Ben.
Second
Third. Wonder if we can get the Infiltrators United behind this

I cant see them lasting long against reaper fire power.
*if* they were going after the Reapers directly I'd agree with you, but I don't think they are. When I was looking at the pic and the video it seemed they were flying in and out of London. Maybe dropping off soldiers/police/mercs vs. Reaper ground forces to try and buy time for civilians to be evac'd out.

So, if we listen to IGN apparently the Collectors we wiped out are invading with the reapers, and that trailer alluded to multiplayer... I'm not sure where they got either of those assumptions
i think it's safe to say that IGN is wrong. We Blew up the COllector homeoworld or at the very least invaded it with anti-alien SOBs So there is no way the collectors could come back. and how does that even remotely allude to a multiplayer?!

Well, *if* those are Collectors it would imply that the base we blew up wasn't the primary base as more than a few people have been speculating and those might be non-Protheans to boot as well. Another race the Reapers didn't feel cut the mustard and repurposed to serve their needs.

No thanks. Earth being annihilated means 11 billion humans dead, leaving only about 1 billion left in the entire galaxy. That One Display Name wrote...
Seeing how the teaser trailer Bioware announced for Mass Effect 2 revealed sheperd being KIA, and then seeing Shepherd "die" in the opening of the game, based on this trailer, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing Earth get annihilated during the opening cutscene at the start of Mass Effect 3.
In which case, Shepard = EPIC FAIL.

I'm not saying all the humans there need to die with it. You could have a massive evacuation/retreat while the reapers sit there and devastate the planet beyond repair in a show of "Ya, that's right! We're the unstoppable evil villians" just to provide a sobering reality of the great danger the galaxy faces. Start the game off with an, "Oh crap.. what am I getting myself into?"
Although, I wouldn't mind seeing the galactic population get reduced to scraps by the end of the game. I want to see some huge losses and sacrifices in this battle, or I won't think of the reapers as epic enemies...

Maybe...maybe that is a Husk.
From ME1 to ME2 Shepard mentions that the Husks seem more..."advanced."
Maybe the Reapers have them using weapons now.

First, there are much fewer Humans off Earth, than 1 billion. Under 100 million is a better guess.
Yet, even if the Earth gets annihilated, it makes little difference in the big picture, as long as major colonies and Alliances industry are untauched. You see, in a space era, the power of Humanity will be measured not bythe number of human beings, but by the number of star systems controlled, and the industrial output capacity.
Earth in the ME universe is a huge sink consuming the colonial power, actually. So Humanity will only become stronger if that sink is destroyed. Also, spacers and colonists > earthworms. I mean genetically, they are the best Mankind has to offer.
Of course, the Earth must be retaken and repopulated at some point, but my Earthborn Human-supremacist Shepard won't shed any tears about the Parliament getting leveled.

Gah, you're right. That gaffe is especially embarrassing considering that a couple months ago I actually went to the trouble of trying to figure out the human population outside of Earth in this post and concluded that it could only be around 100 million at the most.Zulu_DFA wrote...

If you save the Galaxy, then you are saving everyone. If you save the Earth only, you are not necessarily saving Humanity because 1) There will be Reapers throughout the entire civilized space-faring galaxy, so they could reinforce their invasion of Earth. 2) Fending off the Reapers that invade Earth does not destroy the Reaper threat. Everyone, including Humanity, will still be threatened with anihilation.
There is one choice and one choice only: Save the entire galaxy.

Also is it just me, or the sniper-guy is Ron Pearlman?
I count that as a vote in favor of seeing the Earth get destroyed.

Better Earth than the colonies. It'll keep those idiot Reapers busy for a while, so TIM can come up with something.
