I'm trying to figure out how exactly am I supposed to do the companion quests is there is simply not enough time, approval to go around?

I got Justice last, went back to the keep and got his quest, but when I go to Amaranthine there is no house to go to.  Does he have to be friendly? Isn't that kinda impossible at this point? After you get all the companions is it pretty much over?

Same for Oghren although it implies you must be friendly with him, which seems impossible since he hardly ever reacts to decisions and the conversations you do have with him aren't enough to get him to 80, much less 90.  I've had Oghren since the beginning and just got Justice (last) and Justice already has higher approval.

Does Valenna have to be 90+ as well?

I heard Sigrun's is bugged if you do the "Law and Order" quest.  Is there a patch for this mess?

Yes, Sigrun's quest has been fixed in the latest 1.04 patch, as well as the personal quests of the other companions, some of which were bugged.

Justice's quest is in the Chantry, not his house. Aura, Kristoff's wife, is in one of the back rooms at the Chantry. As his approval raises, too, there are various conversations you ca have with him to increase approval, as well as gifts you can give him.

I needed to get 1.04 just to activate the DLC (Ultimate Edition). So it's not fixed appearantly. I have gotten neither Sigrun nor Valenna's quest. And when holding tab there was no one in the chantry by the name nor any quest marker.

Just go to the left back room in the Chantry, Aura is there (I don't think there is a quest marker for her).

For Velanna you need to trigger a random encounter, her approval doesn't matter IIRC. In case you're not getting it, you can use the console to force it. Read the "Bug" section on this page for the instructions on how to do it.

Oghren's approval is almost impossible to get to +75 (which is what you need to finish his quest), unless you spam him with gifts.

For Sigrun's quest you need to walk around Amaranthine (to the right of the main gate entrance) to find Mischa. In previous versions prior to the patch, Mischa would disappear if you did "Law and Order" first. Supposedly this was fixed but I'm not sure.

I have only triggered one random battle in the entire game: A pack a ninja werewolves. And I was beginning to think maybe that one wasn't random.  I was under the impression there were no random encounters in Awakening.

I'm at 70 now.  I may be able to get Oghren to 75 if I can find a few junk gifts.

I've been all around Amaranthine. Left and Right. This dwarf lady ain't there.

Thanks anyway.

Not the last time I played Awakening.  Somewhere it may SAY that Sighrun's quest bug is fixed, but it's not in my experience.

LOL! Even the Awakening patches are borked.

Although it should be noted that you need to start a NEW game of Awakening for the patch to fix that issue. If you're playing with a game that was already bugged, the patch won't fix anything.

Weird. It works perfectly for me. Once I downloaded the patch, I've always gotten Justice, Sigrun, and velanna's personal quests without fail. The only thing that wasn't fixed with the 1.04 patch was the Silverite Mines equipment bug, and somone else made a mod to fix it.

If the 1.04 patch isn't fixing anything for you, look on Dragon Age Nexus, I'm pretty sure someone has created a fix for it if Bioware hasn't or won't.

I got the Ultimate Edition so I HAD to patch it before I started Awakening or the DLC wouldn't activate.  I went back to an early save right before I first went to Amaranthine and the dwarf lady is there.  The bug is still.. bugged.

This is really erking me.  I got everything done, but her quest.

I had no issues whatsoever in the silverite mines. Thanks for the tip.

Huh, so the patch is indeed borked... typical of Bioware. Great games but poor tech support.

The silverite mines bug only occurs under certain circumstances, particularly if you're equipping DLC items.

There are no junk gifts in Awakenings.  You either have to give Oghren someone else's gifts or import several from Origins.  And alas, Origins alcohol only gets a +1.

The only thing fixed in Awakening is the +100 approval bug.

I have *never* under *any* circumstances been able to trigger Velanna's quest... I have been trying for nine months, ever since it's release.

Some people *can* trigger it, however, leading me to beileve that it is an absence of coding in a regional version.

I have a EU version of Awakening (dl only) and run on a PS3. It may be that only PCs or American versions can get Velanna's quest to appear.

You have virtually no chance of ever completing this.

On the other hand... Oghren is *easy* to get proper approval with - even with his own approval bug that only ever gives +6 for gifts.

The trick is to get as much approval as possible through converstations. You will *just* make it to the level where his quest converstation triggers, and the approvel in that conversation will get you to max.

There are 2.  One in the Chantry lost and found and one in Homer's Toy Box near the cow outside Amaranthine. I used those to push Sigrun to 75, but her quest is just bugged so that didn't help.

I think it is a bad idea to give quest you can't complete unless you play a certain way.  Players shouldn't even get the quest until they are able to complete it.  I hate having unresolved quests. Kudos on the changes in DA2 where you don't have to kiss everyone's ass to experience content.  The personal quest aren't even quests. They are conversations mostly.

What I eneded up doing was the Blight Orphan quest where you have to get moonshine.  I did the first one just to see what would happen next as they clearly weren't children.  Anyway the second quest set had a quest to get moonshine so I figured maybe that would be a way to get him a gift.  There was, in fact, some "Dragon ******" liquor in a crate in Hubert's house so I ened up getting him to 76 which allowed me to complete it.  And giving that 50 silver in the first "orfan" quest helped the ending.

Those aren't junk gifts, those are for Anders. The cat collar is especially obvious for him if you gave him Ser Pounce-a-Lot. The scarf he vaguely hints at in Kal Hirol at the lyrium bucket convo.

That's one thing that sucks about Oghren in Awakening. Unless you get the max approval in every convo, you never get his quest, which is unbrealistic, since he either is apethetic or disapproves of most everything.

Never took Anders to the thaig. And for some reason I remember that as being "cow collar", maybe because I figure Homer is the cow. And the bell description reminds of a cow bell. Funny how the mind plays tricks.
Anders and Nathaniel are at Friendly so quick all thier gifts are practically junk.Posted Image  For a guy who hates my guts Nathaniel comes around almost instantly and was maxed out at 100 by the time I was going to the 2nd main quest.

heh, yeah, you're right about their approval. They and Justice have the easiest approval to raise, because just being nice and civilized to them, or remotely sympathetic, gives big approval boosts.

Cow collar with bell?!?!?!?!?! LMAO! oh man, you sure you hand't drank too much coffee when you read that? No, it's definitely a cat collar with bell for The Pouncemeister. At the lyrium bucket in Kal Hirol, Anders makes a side joke about taking up knitting, knitting the templars scarves for the holidays or something. Thus, the nifty scarf in the Chantry Lost and found.

There is actually a mod for Awakenings that has a bag full of an infinite number of kittens to give companions as gifts.
