I agree. I think he's just a viewpoint character for the trailer. Might appear as an NPC in the actual game. I could see Mac Walters writing a comic about the invasion from his point of view, maybe. But that's probably it.

Anybody guessing what Mr. Future Squadmate (fingers crossed) was shooting at? Clearly bi-pedal., holding a rifle of sorts. Could be a normal human taking advantage of the situation, or it sorta looks turian. Doesn't have the giant bug head collectors do.

No you aren't alone in thinking that.

My initial thought was simply that he was a means to portraying the reaper invasion of Earth, without spoiling the surprise that it was ME3.

I'm not sure at the moment...my head is full of allsorts of permutations!!!

Nope. I figured he was just there to show what tthe Alliance is up against on Earth.
