Ok Greg Ellis probably wasn't the one we played as, but he was in COD4 and has been in Bioware games and lots of 'Military' style games, so unless someone announced who it is, I reckon it him who doing the Brit in the trailer.
But if he remaining on Earth, he can't be a squadmate, so probably just an NPC we talk to?
