Reapers likely took the galaxy completely by surprise....and it's likely that NO ONE really knows about them....hence the Brit's reaction in the trailer.

RDR did deserve the award of GOTY, it was original and good and very few studio could pull off the western set game. But bioware's mass effect isn't in no way inferior to RDR, bioware also pulled off many accomplishment like make ME2 better than it's predecessor, great storyline, improved graphics, and likable characters, I bet it was a hard choice for judges. IMO these two both deserve games GOTY

I cant believe Halo Reach didnt get best 360 game, I thought it would have. And COD got shooter and ME 2 RPG... I thought it was gonna come down to ME 2 and COD for GOTY.... but yea

The entire awards show was poorly done. I turned off the show to watch the Leaf game after they awarded Assassins creed brotherhood best action adventure game...



And regarding RDR winning game of the year, it was evident that Rockstar put alot of effort into the aesthetics of the game, but the plot and gameplay were terrible (as usual). It was a tacky, spagetti western with a twist ending. It got boring for me after the Mexico missions. At least GTAIV had a living city to enjoy after the story ended.



The problem with RDR is, if its not your type of game, you wont like it.



Mass effect 2 definetly did not deserve GOTY, for the reasons I have posted a trillion times on this board.



I honestly wanted something like Heavy Rain to win. That was a very emotional game for me.

Am I the only one disappointed by the trailer? Seems like there is too much focus on humanity. Reapers are focused on wiping out all life, and we gotta save earth? I know its exciting and awesome to finally see Reapers, but this focus on humanity and earth is disappointing. How many times does a storyline, must a storyline, have "saving earth" as a main premise? We should be saving the galaxy from annihilation, not (again) rescuing a boring blue planet I live on

5th Fleet isn't stationed at Earth IIRC.  They're at Arcturus Station at the nearest Mass Relay to Earth.  That's not to say they don't deploy in defense of Earth and get mostly wiped out or are caught away from Earth before they can effectively deploy and fall back in hopes Shepard can recruit other races to help liberate Earth.

Heavy Rain had plot holes as big as the grand canyon. It didn't deserve goty, not by a long shot. ME2 did, without question. (and yes, I did beat Heavy Rain... twice)

RDR won 4 awards? I can't tell what was done more poorly the presentation or the award choices themselves. Either way, big disappointment and it doesn't show promise for future VGA shows.
