So disappointed. I expected better from Bioware. I guess this confirms they have nothing original left in them. Hollywood has been doing aliens invading Earth for almost 60 years. I suppose Bioware will be joinging the ranks of EA (I know they own Bioware) and Activision in churning out endless clones of their last successful franchises.

Don't you think you're jumping to hasty conclusions based on a 1 minute trailer?

If you missed it:

Yeah, please, somebody tell me that the Reapers won't be beaten by ordinary force of arms...Like it's being set up as.  Come on...

That would pretty much confirm the Reapers villain decay is complete.

You see in the trailer that everything they're being hit with, just explodes on their shields. So no.

Mass Effect 3!!! I'm so excited! Thanks for posting the link as the trailer was amazing! Must watch again..

Anybody know whose voice that is? It sounds very familiar..

It sounds like Nicholas Boulton, the guy who voiced Vaughan in DA:O and most likely will voice Male Hawke in DA2

soo... they should spend the first 2 games getting ready for the invasion, the third should be... fighting dinosaurs?  dude, if ur really pissed bout this, ur bout 3 years too late.  you shoulda been mad back when me1 was announced.

My gripe is about Earth being the centre of attention when there is no reason for it to be.

why wouldnt it?  even if every known planet is under attack, our most important one should be the center of attention.

not a big diff, but theyre looking for a way to kill the reapers in the big picture, not save the earth.

There is no evidence to suggest that every planet in the galaxy is under siege. Virgil stated that it took centuries to wipe out the Prothians, this would indicate the Reapers are relatively few. Perhaps 10,000, ME2s end cinematic doesnt allow for an accurate count (1 cycle of extinction and 1 birth every 50,000 thousand years). In the video there were, what, 8 Reapers over London? 8 per capital/large city multiplied by approx. 5 (average number of large cities per country, adjusted for not all countries having large cities while others have more) multiplied by approx. 190 countries adds up to 7800 Reapers total focusing on Earth. Assume the remaining 2200 have formed a perimiter to prevent no one getting in or out.

While the math is based on guess work at this point, it means the entire Reaper population is focused on Earth.

By all accounts (codex entries), Earths only real importance is that its our homeworld. It might hurt morale, but the Reapers aren't known for being masters of psychological warefare.

In ME2 it was pretty clearly stated that humanity was on the rise and was one of the most important races in the galaxy because of how they saved the Citadel. And you can see how this has had an effect on the ME universe: Csec is mostly human these days, there are humans in the council etc etc...
To quote the mass effect wiki: "Either way, the galaxy would look to humanity and the Council for guidance against the Reaper threat."
In ME2 a mostly human group took out the Collectors, solved the Geth problem and destroyed a Reaper all on their own.
I'm pretty sure these are valid reasons why the entire galaxy would be concerned about what's going on on Earth. The Reapers targetted Earth probably because they see humanity as the biggest threat. And if some other race would've achieved all of the above their homeplanet would be the centre of attention. It all makes sense.

Yeah I wouldn't fret to early about the whole 'why Earth'. There will be a reason I am sure.

Don't start complaining a couple of hours after the first teaser (yes teaser) trailer was released. It is just stupid and pointless, almost as if you are trying to find things to be angry about when we know next to nothing.

Nobody considered the voice is not Sean Bean, and it's actually Simon Pegg? sounds alot more like him.
And people moaning already? the leak said Shep is rallying the forces of the galaxy together meaning all the species we've seen so far and more (hopefully) so its not just all about humanity, everyones gonna save our ass from the fire.

What was that thing that British dude shot with his rifle? I don't think it was a husk, it's posture wasn't like a Husk's.

The curve of it's leg looked like a Collector to me, but trying to pause it the head doesn't have the same shape.  Maybe it's Prothean but from a different caste... or a husk derived from another species.

Looked like a turian to me. There are aliens who live on Earth after all. And considering that the Reapers are right over them, I don't doubt that many humans and aliens get affected by the indoctrination signal. Or something.

It was definitely humanoid.  It didn't really move like a Husk or a geth.  And it seemed about the same size as the woman, so probably not anything too large--krogan, scion, etc.  The proportions didn't fit for a salarian or vorcha.  My guess is turian or Collector--the proportions were a little off for a human profile, and the weirdly narrow waist fits descriptions of turians or Collectors.

Its very hard to tell but, It looked to me like the Sniper shot a Turian. I don't think that means the Turians are our enemies. My belief is that we will be fighting indoctrinated members of all different races.

My best guess is that it's a Husk. The head is too round to be a Turian's - who have fringes at the back of their heads - and based on how the Reapers have attacked other locations (Eden Prime and Horizon for example), they either brought Dragon's Teeth to transform humans into Husks or had the Husks already made and ready to go on their ships as soon as they landed.

Also, is it even possible for the Reapers to Indoctrinate organics within a week?

This is going to be the best game ever. And that's not some fanboy idea. That is cold. Hard. fact. And anyone stating otherwise should be obligated to play it fully. Ign is going to have to invent a whole new rating category.

Also, I hope to god that's jason statham in there.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think we've seen how quickly a living Reaper can indoctrinate an organism. How long did it take the dead Reaper to indoctrinate the Cerberus research team in ME2? I thought it was odd that the Reapers were even landing, why not just bombard the cities from orbit. I think it was either to make the trailer look truly epic or its because they are landing in heavily populated cities and indoctrinating people.

I'm pretty sure the voice actor in the trailer is Sean Bean.

I read the in-game codex to see what it says about rapid indoctrination:

"Long-term physical effects of the manipulation are unsustainable. Higher mental functioning decays, ultimately leaving the victim a gibbering animal. Rapid indoctrination is possible, but causes this decay in days or weeks. Slow, patient indoctrination allows the thrall to last for months or years."

So you may be right that the Reapers are rapidly indoctrinating people as they land. We know, from what "Big Ben" said, that the invasion occured at least a week prior to the event we see in the trailer.

I think I can see a possible response that shepard can make, where it shows shepard in that video looking at earth and walks away. I would like to see the option to a.) bring in all the forces you have to help earth or b.) tell your forces to ignore earth, so that you can continue to gather forces.

Me I would have my shepard ignore earth just leave it and all of its inhabitants to fight the enemy

CAN'T WAIT...MUST HAVE...

The ME3 release date on gametrailers is Q1/2011.

Maby it will be released in march? or perhapa January? Wishfull thinking, I know.

More likely in June/July. They said holidays 2011, they never said the season in which the holiday will be.

It's just the bitter jaded fanboy equivilant of "First!"  With a little of the old "Bioware sold out" rant for flavor.
