That trailer made me want to cry. It really did. Yet another Earth-is-under-attack-by-aliens and another generic Caucasian male space marine...
Sadness. ._.

And what's wrong with attacking Britain? Not EVERYTHING can take place in the good ol' US of A. To be honest, I would have liked to have seen New Delhi, which is apparently a very prosperous city in the ME universe. Anyway, what's to say time on Earth will be restricted to the UK?

Since the nations are more unifed wouldn't Britain have it's own army to combat the Reapers or are invidual armies replaced for a global one.Zavox wrote...

Why attack Britain is it the strongest nation on Earth?
They're likely attacking every nation on the planet. Mr.Big Ben said other cities are being attacked and the world looks pretty screwed up when Shepard is looking at it.
Very likely, I'd even go as far as say it's London only. London seems to have grown a bit with all those large skyscrapers.
The British soldier dude said that the planet's defenses have been mostly anihillated. There is no way they could've prepared for this. They don't even know what the Reapers are.

Britain is a part of the European Union--in any case, I suppose they just picked a place that wasn't New York City.
Because NYC has well over a million times filled its quota of "attacked by aliens". BioWare probably wanted to do something unique. Someone else be the butt monkey of the world, and they picked London. Lucky guys!
Exactly. I think they just did it just so they wouldn't do New York. As you said New York has been done a million times in a destroyed motif.
I think it all came down to iconic cities. They wanted to do ubiquitously known cities, and, since New York is somewhat cliche, they went with London (probably tied in that regard). Those two-- New York and London-- are probably evenly the two most popular when it comes to landmarks and world famous recognition.

The Alliance is the earths combined army in the galaxy. I think the countries, or rather unions in mass effect will have their own comparatively smallish standing army. Which most likely is close to wiped out except for those few one man armies like the bad*** in the trailer.

Anyone notice the giant ferris wheel in futuristic London? At least that's what it looks like.
Dude, there's a big ass ferris wheel in London right now. Get to know the planet you live on.
Why would anyone know some secondary landmark from a country they didn't live in? I know I've heard about it in passing, but it's not like it gets a lot of focus. Hell, I'm pretty sure the only reason the world knows about secondary American landmarks is because of Hollywood.

It's not really secondary though...

I can't help but laugh. Bioware debuts any character for any game and there are always people clamoring to find out if they can boink them.
