I bet the Protheans saw something very similar to this...
And what's wrong with attacking Britain? Not EVERYTHING can take place in the good ol' US of A. To be honest, I would have liked to have seen New Delhi, which is apparently a very prosperous city in the ME universe. Anyway, what's to say time on Earth will be restricted to the UK?

So true. I'm thinking we'll be globe-trotting as well as galaxy-hopping in this one. Maybe Earth is the last place we go. Who wants to galaxy hop when a Reaper is going to smash your face with a tentacle?

London is packed with things older than that.

Is stonehenge still around in the 22nd century? Maybe there might be a future cinematic of famous earth human monuments collapsing.

Why attack Britain is it the strongest nation on Earth?

They're likely attacking every nation on the planet.  Mr.Big Ben said other cities are being attacked and the world looks pretty screwed up when Shepard is looking at it.

So the 7 million deaths in the first week are in Britain and not the world population?

Very likely, I'd even go as far as say it's London only. London seems to have grown a bit with all those large skyscrapers.

Since the nations are more unifed wouldn't Britain have it's own army to combat the Reapers or are invidual armies replaced for a global one.

The Alliance is the earths combined army in the galaxy. I think the countries, or rather unions in mass effect will have their own comparatively smallish standing army. Which most likely is wiped out except for those few one man armies like the bad*** in the trailer.

Wouldn't they have no weapons to combat the Reapers?
Mostly indoctrinated Humans but the Reapers will still destroy the city during the time!

I'm not surprised that the Reapers are targeting Earth. A human has destroyed 3 Reapers and stuffed a fourth. My guess is that they (Reapers) want to stop the biggest threat they've faced in their existence.

Three?  I thought it was just two?

The trailer for Mass Effect 3 was so good it actually made me forget that Elder Scrolls V has just been confirmed.

Elder Scrolls V did catch me offguard for a second while waiting for the BioWare announcement.

I think it's very possible that other planets are under attack as well.  I imagine one of their prime targets would be the citadel since that is where the leadership of most galactic governments is centered.

Why would anyone know some secondary landmark from a country they didn't live in? I know I've heard about it in passing, but it's not like it gets a lot of focus. Hell, I'm pretty sure the only reason the world knows about secondary American landmarks is because of Hollywood.

It's hardly secondary. There's a whole complaex honouring the millenium that the ferris wheel is a part of. It's as big of a landmark as Big Ben, The London Tower, Buckingham Palace, Westminister Abby, etc. etc.

That trailer made me want to cry. It really did. Yet another Earth-is-under-attack-by-aliens and another generic Caucasian male space marine...

Sadness. ._.

Are you calling my Asian Female Shepard a white male?

*rolls eyes*

That...makes no sense.

Well, unless your talking about Sniper dude, which makes no sense because he isn't a 'Space Marine', then am assuming your trying to be funny and proclaiming that Shepard is like Master Chief. When you seem to forget that unlike Master Chief, Shepard can be a woman! Not only a woman but you can change the skin tone too. ;)

Resistance 3 looked EXACTLY the same as the other Resistance games.

Homefront does look pretty cool though I'll admit.

I'm hoping to have a bromance with this British soldier. I want to give him a bro hug like with Jacob.

I want more than bromance

I can't help but laugh. Bioware debuts any character for any game and there are always people clamoring to find out if they can boink them.

You honestly telling me you wouldn't want to tap that?

You know, we are pretty near the edge of the galaxy. Probably Earth was the first stop in the galactic invasion.

I think the 2milliondead count quote is refering to HUMAN FORCES, not civilian casualties. 2million dead soldiers or whatever mixed bag of classes humanity has at its disposal I think is more indicitive of the situation, like it says that "we dont know how many people have died, we only know how many people that have died protecting those people." Or something like that.

Or I could be wrong. Honestly there isnt enough info. Im guessing we'll learn more through LotSB-esque DLCs that explain the story after we finish the game, sort of like the expansion Bethesda did with Fallout 3. I hope. Its the only way this would all make sense to me.

Dude, there's a big ass ferris wheel in London right now. Get to know the planet you live on.

Well it's not essential to know, but it's good to have some knowledge of what's outside your country *shrugs*. Plus, Landan is a famous global city.  Meh, I suppose it won't matter to you unless you travel around.

lolwut?

1 Reaper destroyed, Sovereign, by Shepard, who took down its shields at a rather inoppurtune moment.

And then disposing of the carcass of a long dead Reaper, and of a pre-alpha one...

Woopie!

Who wants to bet this dark energy thing that on Haestrom the Quarians are talking about has something to do with the Reaper's return?

It's not really secondary though...

Things Americans know in passing about London:
  • There's a Queen, lives in that palace with the fancy name and every Brit knows her personally.
  • Big Ben. It's there. Peter Pan flies around it.
  • If you've seen V for Vendetta, you know about the Old Bailey (whatever the hell that does) and Parliament.
  • The Thames, and it's filthy.
  • A tower, people get imprisoned in it. Maybe not anymore.
Excusing those, everything else no one (at least, no American) is bound to know.

ETA: In case anyone is curious, yes, most of it is joking sarcasm.

Nope. Sovy in the first game. Derelict and Fetus in ME2. One big middle finger to Harby in ME2.

And, even if all the Reapers have left Dark Space, it would allow them to control the Relay network, and obliterate everyone...

I don't know....  I'm an American and I've heard of the eye of London, but I think it could "possibly" be summarized as secondary.

I think it would comparable to the St. Louis Arch-- a lot of people, most in fact, in the stares have heard of it, but a lot outside I imagine have not.
