During the attack wouldn't this put humans in a " please help us everyone " wouldn't that put other races in more power then the Humans mainly the Turians how would this impact the politcal and Military power in Citadel space?

Ok first of all, we cant jump to speculations, yet. This is just one teaser trailer. There is a hole other story behind this trailer.

Secondly, you cant go out saying : Hey why did I use precious time to stop 1 reaper in ME2 when I could have been preparing my armada for ME3. Shepard knows that there are other reapers, but that human reaper was the biggest threat at the time. Besides, how could shepard know when the reapers were coming. We dont have the slightest idea how long it took them to get to the milky way: 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months...

I just hope Bioware ends up making a epic final chapter for Commander Shepard.

The Reapers are attacking Earth

Commander Shepard will return

There is some British dude who knows who Commander Shepard is and he has an Incisor Sniper Rifle.

It comes out Holiday 2011.

I think that's it.

I wonder how Mars is doing considering it has a fairly large population too and they have the misfortune of being Earth's next door neighbor during this.

I watch a lot of soccer, er... football... and even then I can't manage to think of Derby Co as anything other than "Durby" as opposed to "Darby."

ME3 is turning out like Dragon Age from my point of view. Gather the noble races! Rally together to fight the Blight! Or something like that. :/

/sigh

That's not my point. My point is, most people don't. The London Eye is not that famous. It's famous enough, but expecting Americans to know what it is on sight is pure arrogance.

Oh well. The Eye is pretty popular but not everybody in Europe or America knows about it. I get what your sayin'.

What was the point of ME2? Seriously. What exactly did that game do to progress the Reaper plot?

The central plot of ME2 was about revealing the motivations of the Reapers.

And about Shepard building up a kick ass team to fight off the oncoming onslaught. Very, very relevant.

Yes, the squadmates recruited only for the suicide mission that could all die and thus won't be returning in a significant way for ME3. Yes... they'll be very useful against the Reapers.

The human-reaper was the only thing in ME2 relevant to the Reaper plot. The rest was filler. It was filler that made sense and was appropriate, but filler all the same.

Well here is my theory. I believe 5 squadmates will be coming back from ME2 (if they dont die of course.) Probably, Tali, Garrus, Mordin, Legion and Miranda/Jacob. Then there will be Liara and Wrex from ME1. And lastly we will have 5 more squadmates introduced in ME3.  This will ensure that even if you killed everyone off you will still end up with 6 squadmates in ME3 (5 new + Liara) the same amount as in the original. And if you saved everyone you will get 12, just like ME2. As for those without a save file theyll probably end up with 9 0r 10 squadmates.

This is the only solution that makes sense in my mind. And with Bioware you know they arent afraid to punish people for not playing the previous games as was the case in ME2 (No Wrex, no Conrad and others).

It must be a nightmare for those scripting the game, but thats the situation they put themselves in.

So yes, I still feel the characters and story in ME2 is very relevant. it did progress the plot because we know more about the reapers intentions and how obsessed they are with Shepard. It would only make sense that they go after his home world.

Most of ME2 isn't relevent because that's the only development of the Reaper plot. You don't figure any that stuff out until the very end. There's no progression until then and the rest of the game just is recruiting squadmates and gaining their loyalty.

Ash/ Kaiden as well dont forget bioware said that the LI's were being saved for ME 3 so that means garrus, tali, jack, thane, jacob, and miranda can all be kept as well as possibly samara. it sets up so that its possible to see all the squadmates back

My reaction?

I was perturbed when Mass Effect 2 felt more like Gears of War than an RPG. Now they've taken it into a post-apocalyptic, monochromatic warzone on Earth.

I mean... I have faith that ME3 will have more varied locales. I don't doubt it. BioWare is great at that, and particularly since this game features (presumably) Shepard rallying the other races to fight back the Reapers... it certainly seems like the environs would be more varied.

But the mental image of playing what is slowly becoming a standard third-person shooter with a few moral choices thrown in... in a brown and gray wartime urban environment? With an EA logo in the bottom right-hand corner? Sorry, not into it. I guess that makes me a nerd that likes RPGs and Sci-Fi more than turd-person shooters. Whatever.

This will be the first Mass Effect I won't pre-order.

Yeah I could see it in Mass Effect 3. Gather EVERY military entity in the galaxy and fight against the reaper threat. Or else the universe will turn out like Terminator's.

Anyone notice the giant ferris wheel in futuristic London? At least that's what it looks like.

Dude, there's a big ass ferris wheel in London right now. Get to know the planet you live on.

Why would anyone know some secondary landmark from a country they didn't live in? I know I've heard about it in passing, but it's not like it gets a lot of focus. Hell, I'm pretty sure the only reason the world knows about secondary American landmarks is because of Hollywood.

It's not really secondary though...

Things Americans know in passing about London:
  • There's a Queen, lives in that palace with the fancy name and every Brit knows her personally.
  • Big Ben. It's there. Peter Pan flies around it.
  • If you've seen V for Vendetta, you know about the Old Bailey (whatever the hell that does) and Parliament.
  • The Thames, and it's filthy.

Excusing those, everything else no one (at least, no American) is bound to know.

I'm american and I know a pretty good amount of London.

Same here.  And I know how to correctly pronounce the Thames (like TEMss).

I'm not ignorant of English things. Some of my best friends are English.

Was it just me or did the british soilder sound like the guy who plays Zaeed?

One possible theory is that the events of trailer are near the end of the game and at the beginning the Reapers are still on the edge of the galaxy.  Maybe ME3 will take place over the course of 10 years instead of one.

Did anyone else notice how small the reapers are? I mean Sovereign was almost half the size of the Citadel, and no they're only a little bit bigger than the Big Ben? I'm confused...

There seemed to be quite a few different reapers in that image joker gives shepherd at the end of ME2.  Perhaps they come in all shapes and sizes?

Sovereign was not half the size of the Citadel, he was smaller..if you noitice at the end of ME 1, he is only the size of the Citadel Tower.

I'm glad we got to see ME 3 premiere, but i was hoping for some info on the next DLC episode.

I'm not surprised that the Reapers are targeting Earth. A human has destroyed 3 Reapers and stuffed a fourth. My guess is that they (Reapers) want to stop the biggest threat they've faced in their existence.

lolwut?
1 Reaper destroyed, Sovereign, by Shepard, who took down its shields at a rather inoppurtune moment.
And then disposing of the carcass of a long dead Reaper, and of a pre-alpha one...
Woopie!

Shepard: "Oh, so you think you can do better? Well, tell you what be my quest. I've had enough of you ingrates I'm taking a vacation, go save yourselves."

Once, humans thought that Earth was the center of the universe. Science taught us that it orbited the sun. Then told us that we were just one of a billion solar systems and sat at the edge of the Milky Way.

What does science fiction tell us? That Earth is the center of the universe.
