OMG did no one play ME2? Did know one listen to Harbinger? They want us to be like them. Thats the main reason they've started with humans.MisterDyslexo wrote...

This is how they choose to end the Mass Effect Epic? Its such a... pedestrian option they seem to have chosen. It makes no sense to attack Earth, none at all. You can't say revenge because they are machines, they dont suffer from petty emotions like revenge.
What happend Bioware? Did you loose the nerve to continue doing something original?
The reapers are attacking Earth because they pose the biggest threat.
Saren was caught (sorta) at Eden Prime, a human colony.
Saren hunted by Shepard & the SSV Normandy, a human commando and human ship
Sovereign destroyed by the alliance fleet, human only.
Shepard is back to life, by the human organization Cerberus
Shepard, a human, defeats the Collectors, with a mainly human crew, on Horizon and at their base.
While its not the best choice for the reapers, it is certainly plausible. Don't see why everybody's seeing this as a cop-out.

Yeah not sure why people seem to be down on this...if anything as you suggest I think that is a very likely scenario...but one thing to remember is that, when the first teaser for ME 2 dropped - people were freaking because of the KIA...we have to see what the context of this is before we can really judge it fairly.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for November + ME3 for December of the next year = Social Life mode OFF.
OMG what a holidays...
It's great to be a gamer...don't forget that we are supposed to be getting more bridging DLC as well...not to mention some of the other games that are out, like AC:Brotherhood...and motion controllers - Kinect is fun and if you're not careful it will kick your @ss - played for 4 hours the other day and was sore for the next two days.
I'll have DA2, DeadSpace2, Bulletstorm (possibly), Deus Ex, and whatever bridging DLC comes along for ME3. So hopefully all that can hold me over. AC: Bro when cheap.
I found myself going a little old school recently...pulled KoToR out again - what a great game - don't know what I will start playing when I am done. I might have to start another ME 2 run...

Would be nice if the characters in the new Elder Scrolls didn't look ugly as **** this time.

The only thing I'm surprised by is that the attack happens early enough that Bioware can put it in a trailer.

EXACTLY! Hence my belief that the game won't be ending there: IE not all Reapers showed up their. Some still on the way. It's too abrupt a trailer to be where the END GAME will be. The "final confrontation" so to speak.

Yes in all caps...
This one however, I didn't get any shock value from Earth being attacked by the reapers. Maybe because I watched the gamespot article before seeing the trailer, but I just didn't feel very excited about this one. I guess I just didn't like the whole British guy narrating and inquiring when Shepard's showing up, because then it makes it seem like ME3 is only about saving Earth.
I'm pretty sure that the whole "Hey Quarians you should probably fight or abort" decision in ME2 was placed there for a reason. Each homeworld has to come under attack by the Reapers, because their only purpose is to wipe everybody out and assimilate them for their own sustenance.
Also the gamespot article says it's Sean Bean, this was probably mentioned before but you guys are already 30 pages up, I'm not reading all that!

Don't forget TOR MMO, Crysis 2, Homefront, Ghost Recon, Bioshock Infinite, Portal 2, Batman Arkham, and so many more. I'm gonna be flat broke. Even taking a chance on the CoD game being made by the new developer

I really didn't to need to be sold on ME3 as I was getting it day one anyway but goddamn Bioware you're making it hard to wait another year. WTB Stasis Pod.

Now if they finish ME3 and wrap up the Reapers and Shepard and pull a Dragon Age 2 with Hawke with a different and new storyline, yeah I'll be down for that. But the Reaper storyline has got to end for me with Shepard, otherwise I'm afraid that they're just going to keep franchising this game out Ala Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Madden.

Second, I apologize up front, I have not read all 29 pages. If I mention something that has been covered before please forgive me.
Third, it seems those assuming the Reapers no longer needed a short cut from dark space have forgotten about the dying sun Tali was researching. What do dying suns turn into? Black holes. What do black holes create? Wormholes. As Mordin would say: "Not difficult".
As far as the British character goes, if he is not a potentially new teammate then remember there have been rumors of a multiplayer component being added to this chapter. He could be a character from the SP that is playable in MP.
I believe the Keepers will play an expanded role in this game, either as a means for the Reapers to return or as a surprise help to organic life at the last minute.
Which brings me to my last point... I think the Reapers focus on earth is due to the Reapers seeing the most potential in humanity as the perfect race to complete what they were trying to accomplish with the Keepers and Collectors; creating the perfect race. They feel they've finally perfected the process and found the most diverse race to use it on.
I'm excited for the finally, but hope we'll see more gap bridging DLC before it gets here. Time will tell.

Again I ask: we're excited... why exactly? Mass Effect 3 is still a whole year away (which is good, that means they're taking their time getting it right, hopefully), we've learned nothing surprising about the story (the Collectors were going to target Earth, so obviously that's still the Reapers' plan), and absolutely nothing about the gameplay, i.e. we all still have to live in fear of the multiplayer rumors. Basically, we know exactly as much as we did yesterday. Big f'n whoop.
But now we have a pretty british guy to drool over
