I think it was an awesome trailer that got me hyped up for the game. Don't be so quick to draw conclusions (about the relevance of ME1 and ME2) when you don't know when the events of the trailer will happen in ME3 or what other story elements are in ME3.
The only question I have after the trailer is why all the reapers look like sovereign. I thought EDI said in ME2 that reapers took the form of their harvested species? It was the only excuse for making the human-reaper look human. It also created discussions about the derelict reaper. Harbinger too looked different.
We only saw six reapers on Earth (by my count). Who's to say that they don't make 100 of each species? They could easily have been intended to make more human ones. The one in ME2 only required a number on the order of tens of thousands. We could 60k+ of those today, at a cost 100k each.

Complaining about Shepard being a space marine after two games of playing Shepard as a space marine is stupid.
Complaining about the Reapers attacking Earth after Mass Effect 2 clearly established that Reapers were going after humanity specifically is also stupid.
There's nothing in that preview that wasn't easy to predict.
Thank God there is someone in this forum with a brain!!!
Can't you guys be happy they gave us something related to ME3?

Perhaps, but I think it's a little too convenient. We've now seen a derelict reaper that looks exactly like sovereign and about six on london that all looked exactly like sovereign. I think it's too convenient that when there's another reaper looking like sovereign bioware can just say: oh but there's more than one sovereign-type reaper. What's the point of EDI's statement then? Especially since we've only seen two reapers (the ones that had a big role) that looked different.

I...and I think a lot of people DONT want it to be simple...I like to view it as Soverign was more or less not focusing on battle and just flatting them like flies whenever they became too annoying...machines that are capable of defeating a Galaxy over and over and over...should pretty much already be able to kick our azz...i hope they can do it justice.

Could have been a Thorian creeper. Naive to think only one exists, I think.
Thorian had absolutely nothing to do with the reapers. It had the cipher, thats all. NO reason any creepers should matter, or even exist. I'm not ruling out other forms of zombies though.
I understand that the Thorian had nothing to do with the Reapers, but surely the Reapers, once they learned of the Thorian's existence, would make use of it, if another could be found, and they most certainly would learn of its existence in researching Shepard.
If they knew about the Thorian on Feros, it would've died. They kill everything, with the exception of the captives, which they breed until they only have basic instinct, and put a computer programme to guide them. Thorian would've been under some sort of massive control if that happend, and obviously enough it wasn't. It could've been useful for study maybe, improving indoctrination, but useless since the indoctrinated need to be mindless to do anything of its own. Saren was an exception, but he needed to direct troops, whereas the Thorian would be controlling the minds of others, while ironically having its own mind possessed. Just doesn't sit with their style.

The dude talking in the trailer:
Was that Richard Armitage?
At first I thought it sounded like Simon Pegg but my sister told me to shut up and said it was definitely him. It does kinda sound like him. Has anyone figured it out yet? I can't be bothered to look through 33 pages because I'm lazy and it's too early.
I think it's Greg Ellis, he even looks a bit like the guy too. He's worked with Bioware before and done plenty of Military roles both in live action and as VA. he was in Star Trek, the cocky guy who went down with Sulu and Kirk to knock out the Mining platform.
Well my first instinct, although I may be wrong, was that it was Sean Bean

Like I've said earlier, I can see the council/alliance blaming Shepard for it (one of reasons for his name getting mentioned), Shepard comes over to Earth, states anything they heard is a lie and Shep going to go get help, thus situation the Soldier is in.Kurt Cobain wrote...
wait, I just noticed something: 'Don't know what they are...' so the council and alliance are still being qieut.
That guy possibly getting a 'late to the team' recruitment like a certain squadmate in ME2 did. He possibly could even be an Engineer (the only class we haven't had a Human squadmate of yet), yeah he has a sniper rifle but so does the previously mentioned squadmate and they are an engineer.
Edit: @G2010 I am quite positive it isn't Sean Bean, I can recognise his voice anywhere. Everytime I hear him in voice ads I know it's him. No matter what he does, he tends to leave a bit of his yorkshire accent in it. Only time I can currently think of where I've heard him lose it was when he was playing 006 in Goldeneye.

I've seen enough of his movies to say it isn't him unless something radical happened to his voice in the past year or so.

EPIC! I am glad that ME3 is about Earth,
but didn't understand when the game will be release. Hope for ingame
trailer soon.
Expect it to be released around October-December 2011. I may get pushed back if Call of Duty 8 is released (and EA has no balls <_<)

Why are people surprised about the Reapers invading? They were entering the Milky Way galaxy at the end of 2.
Judging from that image, they were at least several hunderd thousand lightyears away. The Milky Way is about 100000LY and it was almost in full view...meaning they were MUCH farther away.
I hope there's a good explanation on how they got htere. ME2 dissapointed me with stupid plot holes, I expect better from ME3

I am extremely hyped up about this teaser. Earth in ruins? Count me in!
But it seems Shepard will have a more important deadline than before, I hope most of the game takes place before the actual invasion, so that you can explore the galaxy and do side quests, without every second you waste affecting thousands of human lives.
But the thing that worries me the most: With all the great titles coming out, especially in the latter part of next year (Probably a dozen titles coming out 11.11.11) will truly ME3 get the attention it deserves?

Am I the only one a little ticked off about earth... yeah they wanted to make sure you could clearly see it was London but seriously, it didn't look futuristic one bit! London would more than likely be underwater in 200 years time!
A wizard stopped global warming and passed legislature that coincidentally made every building in view a historical landmark, theorefore making demolishion illegal.
Seriously though, Earth is very slummy. Not much reason to recreate the city when there's whole planets that need to be developed out there. Global warming, while owning validity, is an unproven theory. So thats a cop-out, or something that just got lost/mis-remembered in the records of time. either way its unproven and therefore we don't need a reason to explain why Seabiscuit is in the parliament building.

Whilst I'm not a tea or coffee drinker myself, I know that in general nothing will get us riled up like depriving us of our morning cuppa!!
Reapers just messed with the wrong beverage!
