Just to point out, the sniper doesn't look like Jason Statham at all. And if Bioware decided to lower their standards on voice acting and brought that guy in, then I wouldn't be able to take ME3 seriously.

Now you have to remember that the Blur trailers don't exactly portray anything that happens in the game, at least not specifically. I read yesterday that Bioware gave them very limited information when they had them create the trailer. Look at the ME2 Blur trailer, and compare that to the story of ME2 the game. Did TIM actually dialogue with Miranda about Shepard building a team, as if he didn't know who he was recruiting? Did the collector ship fire that bright light on the colony of Horizon?

You can't read too much into a teaser trailer, especially one that's done by another company purely for marketing purposes.

@-Polite    I agree - especially that first part.

That would also be the same with the ME 1 commercial. In it, Shepard denied the aid of Noveria and set course for Callistan instead. So then why would they have Shepard deny a main mission? With limited info also came limited time to make the game worthwhile.

I would also point out that Callistan on that trailer has never actually been used as a landable planet. So even if they set the basis of the teaser in France, you may never actually land there.

You know, the more I think about it, the more disturbing those death toll figures mentioned in the trailer become. Having millions of people on earth die is going to make the eventual victory very bitter. And they said the second installment was going to be the dark one.

Exactly. I knew there was another trailer I forgot to mention. ;)

Did any of those Reapers attacking Earth resemble Harbinger?

Nope, They all seem to be the generic designs instead of making each one "different" like the ending of ME2 to save time maybe. They are after humans because of our genes. Remember Harbinger spamming his lines? lol

Earth beeing completely destroyed even before the game begins is another alternative. At least you wouldn't have to bother rushing to save it.

What would be cool is if the longer you waited, the greater the damage.

The thing I like the most about this trailer is "soldier dude" accent.

If there's one thing I'm worried about it's that ME3 will be about saving Earth/humanity which would be a gigantic step down from saving galactic civilisation from the Reapers. The former is cheesy alien invasion movie and the latter is epic space opera (and was the premise set up from the beginning).

Well who do you think the Reapers are going to turn to next?  They obviously want to destroy the largest threat to them, as they perceive humanity as stronger, first, then take care of the "weaker" races, next.

(Well that's my opinion). :D

Your "opinion" makes perfect sense. The quotee's does not, however.

Shepard is  a man, a man who (to the Reapers) was responsible for the Destruction of not one, but two Reapers. Thus, the Reapers(as a Race) see him, and humanity, as a threat to their who master plan of wiping the galaxy clean once again.

Take out humanity first(and hopefully Shepard with it) and the rest of the Galaxy will fall like dominoes.

Then you don't understand my opinion - see what I wrote further down.  We're not disagreeing as much as you think.

9 million dead after a whole week on Earth?

Hahahaha.

What are they doing, smothering people to death with pillows? An Ohio class submarine could get 9 million people in under 30 minutes.

<_<

I  guess the Reapers are a bit rusty sitting out in Dark Space for all that time.  As for an Ohio-class boomer, just one of its 24 missiles could take out 9 million people most likely if a highly populated city was hit with a "crowd pleaser".

You can't assume it will take place in London based on the trailer. It said every major city, and Shepard is American. We will most likely see the future America, whatever it's called now, during the course of the game. As stated above, ME1 and ME2 commercials show things/places that aren't in the game. It's marketing, so you can't get your hopes up on it. ;)

The question is: Do they want to take them out, or are they back to harvesting them. Maybe they've not given up on that plan yet.

I think you're right.  The Reapers working over Earth for a week and "only" 9 million dead seems a bit sloppy on the Reapers part.  Maybe the soldier was simply referring to the situation in London and not Earth as a whole which is VERY  disturbing as we're likely looking at death tolls in the hundreds of millions if not billons.

Actually, Don't you think it'd be closer to the announcment trailer? The blur trailers are ussually longer and portray more of the game. And judging by the announcment trailer of ME2, then this is probably near the halfway mark of the game.

As someone else pointed out, apparently those 9 million are just in the London area.

Any links to these trailers? I assume the ME2 one is the full length version of the video that ME2 shows if you leave it for a while after you start the game?

What is this ME1 trailer?

Just interested as want to see how much the game changed from trailer to launch :P

Edit:
Even nowadays the Greater London Area has a population of 12 Million or something, so a 9 million death toll from reapers would be feasible even without earths population doubling to 11 point something billion or whatever it is ingame.

Sorry should have said, i meant only for the trailer. If we do actually go to earth chances are it will be america they are the largest single market for games after all. Though i would really like to see a few different cities but thats just not going to happen lets be honest.

So how did they get to Earth, how come Shepard can be in a ship orbiting Earth without getting blown out of the sky? Why didnt the Reapers attack the Citadel first? Where is the Citadel forces, surely they would rush to the defense of Earth since we are a Council race? And the most important question of them all...Did the Reapers use the Arcturus relay and in that case, is Hackett alive?

It's never been said that Shep is American, and (s)he can only be American if the chosen background is Earthborn.

Both Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer are of Canadian origin, as far as I know. Also i never saw any mentioning that Shepard is American in either of the two games. Certainly not if he/she has the Spacer or colonial origin.

So, no info about who's voicing the brit guy? Dominic Monaghan was at the VGA and when I heard the brit guy I immediately thought it was him, and I still do.

He could be from anywhere, Anderson was raised in London but was schooled at home so he does not have the accent.
