I still don't get why Sir Snipe-alot is so clueless about "What they are, or what they want". It is a fleet of ships that all look like Saren's flagship. And he obviously they are not geth. You should think that a few people on the planet (especially in the military) would draw the conclusion that these things are actual reapers. Even if there were only rumors about it before. I mean it is not that there was a conspiracy or an active effort to conceale the truth. You could deny they existed but their existence was always in the air.
But we shouldn't read too much into this teaser. Maybe all of this will never happen wenn you go the ultimate paragon path.
Also: Iwant a fluffy kitten-shaped reaper as squadmate for ME3

Well, the folk who made the trailer were most probably given very limited info on the game, so I wouldn't worry about such details.  Look at the previous trailers Blur made for ME.  They're not consistent with the story and are just designed to whet the appetite.  Which it has (my head nearly exploded when I watched the trailer).

Blur has also made trailers for the TOR MMO, which have been picked apart enough for some people to say "Thats inaccurate, nothing like 'x' at all, and it totally contradicts 'y' happening". They make amazing trailers, but have some inaccuracies. People who work at Blur usually play the games of a series they're asked to make a trailer for, to get an idea, so most of what they come up with is probably speculation.

Exactly my point. It is a teaser designed to look cool and exciting at the expense of consistancy. Everyone nitpicking on it should always bear that in mind. But I love nitpicking too much to not do it. :D

freesty, nice dub work on the trailer.

One thing I don't understand is that Shepard started out being the one with special knowledge that not everyone had, and was "the right man in the right place" to stop Saren. In ME2, he was treated more like this badass super soldier that was the only one that could lead a squad to take on the Collectors (you found out later they thought they were going to be fighting a whole lot more of them than they actually did). In ME3, he is the only one who can rally all the races of the galaxy together against the Reapers? It would seem like all the races in the galaxy would probably figure it out on their own that in order to have a chance to survive they should probably help each other out against the giant fleet of ancient Dreadnoughts, especially since the entire Turian race is only allowed to have a handful of dreadnoughts because they are so powerful.

That is what I kind of think right now, but obviously there are a ton of things that could happen/be revealed that would make more sense out of everything.

I noted some folk asking how the reapers got there, I've not read all the replies so perhaps someone as already mentioned this, check out the local cluster, specifically mars, perhaps a clue to how the reapers got to earth?

What do you mean?  The only notable thing on Mars was the Prothean research outpost that they used to study early ****** sapiens.  There was a bunch of data caches and craft with the eezo still working.

I don't think there could be a portal somewhere there like the Citadel relay.

"Immigration and development are restricted as the search for Prothean artifacts continue"
In other words not everything has been unearthed(or unmarsed, does'nt sound right though), this is pure speculation on my part, but it would be logical.

Did bioware get a different person to write the story/script for ME2 and possibly for ME3?

I'll admit that I'm almost equally excited for that title too, but what looked better? We saw a stone wall move around. Not really inspiring. I'd reserve judgement until we actually see something.

It poses a larger threat to the Alliance that the Reapers operate so aggressively. It doesn't stand to anyones benefit to leave them unchecked.
Unless, of course, the question is rhetorical. Then, the answer is simply- Only the Humans.

I know I'm two days late, but honestly... this trailer didn't really get me too pumped. I'm glad that ME3 was officially announced, but sadly, the announcement was overshadowed by Skyrim, at least for me. ME3 is going to be a game that I nerdgasm for on release day.

Truly I don't understand how people can say this makes ME1 and ME2 matter less because the Reapers arrive. I was always under the impression in both games that all Shepard was doing was delaying the inevitable Reaper return and buying time to develop sufficient countermeasures. We don't know how far past ME2 that ME3 will be. It could be months, years or even a decade, but you;ve bought that time through actions in ME1 and ME2. It was always inevitable (at least by my understanding) that the Reapers would come, the question was how prepared would Shepard and by extension the galaxy be when they did. When you think that Shepard and Cerberus (regardless of your choices, they got the information) seem to have actual schematics of Reapers (at the end of ME2, what Shepards looking at on the iPad thingy), that is pretty major. Currently the civilization now is more prepared to deal with the Reapers, with more information on them than any other civilization that we know of that came before, and that is largely thanks to what we did in the previous games, so I really don't see those games as pointless now.

ME3 better be epic in its scope if not, this will not make sense if the earth is being invaded. And please don't go "death star" on us or "flawed entrance and go blow reactor" cliches.

It's true that they probably could figure all of that out on their own but Shepard probbaly became an important  figure for other races during his/her adventures during MS1 & MS2 so if anyone were to rally up the races to fight the reapers, it would be Shepard.

Wow that's sick.  Though I wouldn't understand why a Mass Relay is there.  But still, it's awesome.

Well, they said they were already working on ME3 in early December, a month before ME2's release. So its actually about 22-24 months exactly. And ME1 to ME2 only had a gap of about 26 months. So they're working a little faster this time. I hope they dont release it 90% finished and expect us to pay for the remaining 10% They actually did this with ME2 with Zaeed, but gave him to us for free because... they have integrity? Those words are hard to say in this world we live in.
