ME3 is going to rock ass. It's clear the Reapers are not trying to exterminate humanity... they're trying to harvest them to start their human Reaper over again. This is going to ****ing rock ass.

Btw.: Did you notice that they used the Mass Effect 1 soundtrack at the end of the trailer?
Loved that! Especially as you saw the N7 Logo.

You all seem to assume that Mass Effect should be centered around the position of humanity in the galaxy. This is just what I hate about most sci-fi's, they give you a universe full of interesting characters and races and yet they don't focus on for any reason. At first, most of the reasons that Harbinger gives for the alien races not being used instead of humans are good, but one specifically stands out: the turians.
"Too Primitive"
Really? Seriously, Bioware? Turians are "too primitive" while Humans have barely begun exploring space?
What, are you taking ideas from fanfictions?
That argument doesn't/shouldn't work at all. Turians have been around for much longer than humans, assuming their evolution goes at the same pace as that of humanity.
Hell, what's their argument for not using the Yahg? They're basically perfect, no? And don't give me that "they don't know about them" - I'm fairly sure the Reapers would know something like that, especially since Saren - the most trusted citadel spectre - was controlled by one.

ME2 - Stop the from creating another reaper to summon the reapers.
ME3 - Yeah? Well **** you too Shepard. Assuming direct control of earths' anus.

Reaper in London.

Shepard, location unknown, presume Normandy.

It looks awesome...
But personally I hope that either we drive the reapers off Earth 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through the game and have the endgame somewhere else with more... galactic significance or somewhere new but with major significance to the Reapers...
If they use Earth as the site of the endgame then I hope its utterly destroyed/transformed into some form of unrecognisable reaper construct...
I'm sure the game will be amazing regardless!
I would prefer to have recruiting the galaxies civilizations to just be the first third of the game, only for the glorious armada you've assembled to be crushed by the Reapers, with the second third a desperate battle to delay the seemingly inevitable, and the last half have glimmers of hope appearing, only for the game to end on either "Bolivian Army Ending" (a cliff hanger that hints at a downer ending, but doesn't confirm one, would occur if you made mehish choices in ME1 and ME2), a "Downer Ending" (if you messed up the choices in ME1 and ME2 really badly), or a "Bittersweet Ending", with the Reapers Driven back and sealed away, but not defeated, not permanently.

9 million dead after a whole week on Earth?
Hahahaha.
What are they doing, smothering people to death with pillows? An Ohio class submarine could get 9 million people in under 30 minutes.
<_<
They're "trying" not to kill anyone at all - they want to harvest them all to make another Reaper. 9 million is just the COLLATERAL damage of those they had to kill to suppress resistance.
Exactly, I thought this was obvious given ME2, with the Reapers targeting the humans for "ascension" to join their species. THIS is why they are attacked Earth, why they want humans, and it will draw Shepard as well. I don't know why everyone was criticizing this, it follows the plot trend from ME2! I'm so stoked!!
Yeah, everything was either hinted at or outright explained in ME2. The Reapers want to pulp humanity and make Reapers out of us, they can't do that if we're nothing but ashes. After we've been harvested, they'll then go about wiping out the other races with hardly batting an eye.
Same reason would be as to why they're attack Earth first (if it is their first target). Engaging in a prolonged galactic wide war first, would just increase human casualties. This is one of the reasons they "created" the collectors in the first place, they were there to speed up the harvest process by collecting genetically diverse samples.
Anyway, yes I'm really looking forward to this. I hope it'll be an epic* conclusion.
*Epic in it's more traditional sense, not the hip word for cool.

So now both Halo and ME series have something common. The last chapters of the both series are about saving Earth.
I think you forgot he whole "ancient, powerful race destroyed by another powerful race that existed before them, died in last ditch attempt to save/warn the galaxy" plot point that happens in both series.

Why, Bioware?
My thoughts exactly.
I mean seriously, how many times in videogames have we played as the Space Marine saving Earth?
Everything that is happening so far is backing up my personal theory, so for me, everything is falling into place nicely.

There has to be something odd to this. Think about it, 7 million in a week isn't a lot....daddyjah21 wrote...
Well, assuming the population of Earth is 12 billion at this time and the Reapers kill an average of 7 million a week, and people stop breeding at the sight of all the people stompy... Shepherd has 32 years to get help before everyone is dead. Literally crushing the life out of a species does not seem like an effective method of genocide
thoughts?

Salarians are diverse enough to have their own sub-species, live for about 40 years and thus have higher reproduction rates, have been space-faring far longer, and humans still beat them out?Bocks wrote...

Krogans show amazing adaptability and originally reproduced at insanely high rates yet have nothing in their genes to show for it?
Yes, it's stupid.

Exactly.
I'm subscribing to the suspicion that most of the game will be about gathering all the factions to help fight the Reapers before they arrive. Though, the trailer would seem to hint that it happens before you're completely done.

No, its 7 mil ONLY from the UK. After he says 7 mil dead (9 total), he says reports are coming in from other major cities, but he doesn't mention their death toll.
