Until they release more info or another trailer we can guess that earth will play a big part in ME3 for various reasons but i doubt will take up the entire game. We didn't see Legion/geth shepard until we had played a good portion of the game.

To clarify: we can spend 90% of our time on another planets doing sidequests or whatever, we know Reapers threaten the whole Galaxy so stopping them would save the whole Milky Way no matter where the battle takes place etc. However, the way Earth and a battle for Earth are presented in the game, the way they are done, the way they're talked about etc etc make an impression which may be much more powerful than our, well, knowledge of situation. We may know we're technically saving the whole Galaxy while battling for Earth, but feel that game is about Earth, not Milky Way.
Whilе it may be more logical because Bioware are pushing the plot towards this, I can't help but think that all the potential epicness a-la 'Saving the whole Galaxy' and 'Galaxy vs the Reapers' would be ruined. The thought makes me sad. I'm trying to keep my hopes up but the game description worries me more than the trailer does.
Ugh, how do I hope the description is screwed up.

So now when all reapers are on earth, we could just blow it up. At least we have never seen that in sci-fi.
I like the idea.
Though I think this decision would not be popular among fellow Shepards.

I agree with you on the fact that I liked this game because it didn't put human interests first and that the aliens are so well developed. and if more then 1/6 of the game takes place on earth then I would be dissapointed. Yet I do like the idea of blowing up Earth with all the Reapers on it, except it probibly wouldnt be that simple lol (I still like my idea the best though, not trying to be all high and mighty lol)Big stupid jellyfish wrote...

Man, your right. In fact, let's have no other races in the game at all. I mean, since none of those alien species really exist, on those homeworlds that don't exist and therefore won't buy the game. Why have them in the game when we have humanity! And Earth! I wonder what Earth looks like? I never saw a large battle take place on or around Earth before! I wonder what it will be like? I wonder what color the atmosphere is, and what Earth's biosphere is composited of?
Meh. And another planet with another color of atmosphere is something "new" and exciting? I've seen more than enough strange planets in various fiction, so it's nothing new to me. There's a limit to originality and the allure of "new" is quickly gone.
I don't care where the fight takes place or where the game takes place, as long as it's nicely done.
I can spend days examining the wrapping, but it will bring me no closer to figuring out the quality of the product inside.
EDIT:
B.t.w. - since when has "saving the galaxy/universe" become so popular. Earlier the people were complaing that plots where a hero saves the whole known world are cliche and irritating/boring, and were calling for smaller scale (save jsut hte kingdom/village)... and now it's the reverse.
Geez...pople. You can never satisfy them.

Stupid taking a stance on something imaginary? No. Drawing lines between random subjects and assumptions is the very basis of imagination. Do you think that we should be here actually predicting what Mass 3 will be instead of what it could be?
And I sure as hell can and will be expressing my dissapointment if Mass 3 strays too far from the expected. And by too far I mean so far that it breaks the continuity. Doesn't mean it would necessarily be a bad game but just not true to the spirit. Think about the relationship between Alien, the movie that defined scifi and horror for me, and its idiotic and indelicate, but surprisingly entertaining sequel.
The kind of familiarity that comes from well-known real-world landmarks in fiction storytelling is bad because it distracts. Monuments usually draw attention to themselves. You have tons of own memories that will awaken and pull you out of the moment. I admit that it can be rather varied from person to person, but it should still exist in everyone at some level. As graphics are what they are, there will be a rather nasty crisis in your mind when your subconsciousness starts to process the errors it gets when comparing the game's interpretation of Big Ben to your mental image of Big Ben.

I just hope if they do a Collector's edition of the game, they take a page from Bungie and give us a statuette of the ME3 squad or a scale replica of the Normandy SR2.

fixed. Yeah, feels wrong. I feel like ME2 did nothing to bring the story forward, we're left at the exact same spot ME1 left us except 2 years later! Yeah, even less time to prepare, why the hell didn't Shepard tried to do something about it instead of running around finding people in order to stop a few colonists from being abducted, to make ONE Reaper when there's already an army coming? Makes. No. Sense. I really hope we get a GOOD explanation.
It's just a reveal trailer guys, look at the last one for ME2, Grunt does get swallowed by a space worm but not in the game...It just a reveal trailer...lol ;-)
Plus Earth bound reapers were bound to happen (reapers cleanse the galaxy so why not wipe out the biggest trouble makers) But look at it this way, if this happens in the game, it could happen half way through or near the end, like Soveriegn battle..
ME1 we got our feet adjusted to the universe & put a plaque in it that says "I'm commander Shepard" gathering/losing allies throughout such as Rachni queen.
ME2 pretty much the same, winning the support of other races, rallying an assult. Human reaper may of been a construct of "God" (we were apparently made in his likeness) to cause more mass histeria on earth etc..I get this idea from the orb in ME1 which you use with the neckless given to you. It says reapers came & studied them, meaning they could of created the God concept themselves by building huge constructs of that species to hide thier identity as a cleansing ship, hey they could of forced the creation of religion in various species...
Either that or it all boils down to the keepers, you all played LotSB right? watched the vids? hmmm pretty damn sus' if you ask me
Oh yeah I'm british & I cant wait to see London smashed up lol but I still keep in mind ITS JUST A REVEAL TRAILER!!!

I mean instead of being happy having a teaser trailer being released there are people fighting because they showed the Reapers on Earth. I mean really you guys are mad that they are on earth and we are going to be stepping foot on earth....REALLY!
I find it funny how people bash earth and how "Humans," Are boring hahahah.
This is a dang teaser trailer that was awesome and I have watched it a couple of times already but to think right when we start up the game we are going to drop into war torn Earth is asinine.
I guarantee that once the game starts it will be like ME2 and we will have a time frame before they get to the galaxy and more then likely we will have to choose which planets go down.....I know for certain the Quarian home fleet is going down in my playthrough.
The childish comments in here makes me want to visit this site less regularly.

if i get my way, the humans will lead a galactic genocide on any alien that doesn't look like a human. along with fighting and defeating the reapers single-handily. so it would make sense if they attacked earth- the humans are their biggest threat.
other then that though I would laugh if the only ending you could get is the Repears winning

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but currently, we simply don't have enough information available to formulate the pessimistic views that so many posters make.
Please don't let this become like the Halo community. (Sorry, but when there are seven posts just complaining about the same one thing in caps, you gotta wonder....)

It is my hope that fans will understand that Mass Effect does merit this type of scrutiny. I have invested hundreds of hours playing Mass Effect and the creators have invested millions and hundreds of thousands of hours into it's creation this is why it pains me to question the people that slave and toil soley for my entertainment. It is my hope that they will make the game they want to make and play.

It is obvious to speculate that the reapers are attacking home worlds of the know alien species, the end of mass effect 2??? so many ships duh they are gana do all the damage they can.
I think it would be interesting to see many different wars taking place.
Geth vs. Quarians
Turians vs. Krogans
Humans vs Reapers
Reapers would moslty be going after humans i would presume since they are the biggest threat to them, they understood this i think since they were trying to build a model human reaper.
I dont think the mass effect series will end with 3, their is just too much story involved, we still barley know anything about the reapers, the collectors are still out their as well, the geth are still undecided on what they will do, help or take for themselves. Turians and krogans hate each other...
This series has an infinite amount of possibilities just like the universe ironically, i wouldn't be surprised if it was pushed passed 5 games.
This is the best RPG series i have ever played and i thoroughly enjoy every second of it, mining planets to get resources is boring and dull BUT it is simple, not complex at all, a nice counter balance.
i cant wait for ME3 and am definitely pre-ordering. The movie is something else i cannot wait for. I am a huge fan of bio ware!
