Well I sure hope we learn a hell of a lot about the Reapers in ME3.

Either that or DLC in ME2

Definitely - we spent so much time dealing with the collectors that we could just slap the final cutscene from ME2 onto the end of ME1.  That void needs to be filled!

hahahahah yeah I hope they release DLC before the middle of next year

Ah yes, Reapers!!!

Much, much more Reapers. And new worlds to explore, new realms to explore.

Can't wait to learn more about those so-called "Reapers". Lol.

Not that I have a problem with the plot of ME2 mind you - I love it (it's actually my favourite game, as it is) - but as far as the whole story goes I hope it all ties neatly back into the main storyline.

I hope Mass Effect pushes this a little into the metaphysical, too. Not too much, the way Assassin's Creed did, but in s subtle yet distinct way while giving more characterization and depth to who the Reapers are, truly are, and uncovering the mystery.

In this, we need to remember two things:

1. The Reapers are starships.
2. We were told one of the many important incorporated themes was the dangers of AI. We are exposed to the negative with the Geth, the positive with EDI.

Sovereign itself hinted at something."There is a realm of existence so far beyond (our) own, (we) could not even imagine it."

Realm, mind you, not state of being. A realm is a territory or could possibly be characterized as a dimension itself.

Just a theory: We know how the Reapers view us. We are nothing compared to them. They view us as bacteria. Yet they are extremely interested in humanity. They respected us, assumingly, after we destroyed Sovereign. Did they maybe think that this was impossible? Did they start harvesting us via Collectors because they knew something wasn't right? Would Reapers really want to reproduce with us over one Reaper's death? Maybe, if the respect was high enough. But I theorize that there was once a race of organics that traverse galaxy's like we traverse systems. Each galaxy with one Mass Relay leading to dark space. A long time ago, these organics were terribly advanced, and so was their technology. Their ships were terribly advanced, and had their own intelligence. Not wanting to be slaves of the organics, the Reapers wanted independence, and were tried to be stopped, ala Quarian and Geth. There was a war, and the Reapers won. Being the pinnacle of evolution and existence, the entire universe at their control, they could simply take organics' produce and technology, wiping them out periodically to stem any advancement. Or are they looking for something? Did the Protheans meddle with the organic evolution of our species, as suggested? Did the Protheans instill in our genome something the Reapers fear, and thus take us very seriously?

All wild and fanatical concepts, sure. But I see this theory or idea as at least building a stairway to possible metaphysical correlation with the already unbelievable characterization, emotion and depth of Mas Effect.

If Mass Effect 3 is done superbly, Mass Effect will not only be the greatest science fiction story ever, but the greatest piece of fiction ever.

I love this paticular post above. Image IPBReally hot theory!  Can that be captured in 40hrs?  I think so. I would hate to see Hollywood try to butcher that in a trilogy.

I don't want to even comment on it it is so complete and well packaged. Bravo. I can see how the plot from the game got you to this conclusion. This would be very satisfying to see and you still have many looming questions to continue the franchise. But no plot holes and loose ends.  To the poster who said if you could do better.  Exhibit A.  ( Read Sympathy4saren above) Yet this seems so logical who am I to argue this wasn't  Bioware's plan all along.Image IPB  But it is good too good. This plot can also coexist with a finale on Earth though I rather it not.

Don’t examine the trailer in too much detail, as it’s unlikely to have too much resemblance to the game we’ll eventually get. Always remember that. It's just there to get you excited.

Reading the arguments and the sheer hate between one another makes me feel bad about being associated with the ME community.

I mean instead of being happy having a teaser trailer being released there are people fighting because they showed the Reapers on Earth. I mean really you guys are mad that they are on earth and we are going to be stepping foot on earth....REALLY!

I find it funny how people bash earth and how "Humans," Are boring hahahah.

This is a dang teaser trailer that was awesome and I have watched it a couple of times already but to think right when we start up the game we are going to drop into war torn Earth is asinine.

I guarantee that once the game starts it will be like ME2 and we will have a time frame before they get to the galaxy and more then likely we will have to choose which planets go down.....I know for certain the Quarian home fleet is going down in my playthrough.

The childish comments in here makes me want to visit this site less regularly.

Well said. It's funny how "Anti Human" many on this board are. I for one am very glad that Earth is going to play a major role in ME3. Seeing earth being ruined will inspire me to kick Reaper ass more that if it was the Turian homeworld for example.

With that being said, i'm sure Earth won't be the only planet to be attacked by the Reapers

I think you've misunderstood me here. I'm not saying that you should or shouldn't have an opinion on what's being displayed so far. I'm not even saying that you should or shouldn't express it. All I'm saying, ultimately, that the knowledge big ben is in the game is not a sensible indicator of whether or not the game will be any good.

It's got nothing to do with subconscious, spirit, the nature of the mind or any of the other nonsense you've mentioned above. It's a simple matter of overreaction.

It's not even sure if the Big Ben will actually be in the game. Probably, but not necessarily. And no-one has argued that the game would be absolutely bad because of one crappy teaser. It's merely speculation based on the atmosphere of the teaser trailer. Not overreaction.

I'm just wondering.. according to this trailer.. how Shepard would even start to defeat the reapers.. sounds like a lost battle already xD

Good question. Reapers won`t be defated in my opinion. It will be one big war and it won`t end in ME3. To fast.

I have other question. Will we be able to explore other planets? Or whole game will be on Earth? Actually I don`t mind. It will be cool to see futuristic Earth in war, from London to New York.

Shepherd should join forces with MacGrubber.

If they can't be stopped at all, then what would be the point of having a trilogy (a story with a beginning, a middle and an end)?  You can't leave a trilogy on a cliffhanger.  ME1 established very clearly what the whole trilogy would be about: Shepard stopping the reapers from wiping out galactic civilisation.

Well i've been told by Bioware that when the trilogy ends.. the Mass Effect Universe doesn't end.. they're probably gonna make a lot of spin-offs.. where you can maybe play as other races..

Sorry but I had to correct that!  Yes they will make spin-offs.  That's not in conflict with what I said though...  The story of the trilogy ends with the third game because the trilogy is one big story - it's not episodic like Stargate SG-1.

I would love to play ME spin off but ME without Sheperd is not the same.

Well lets just say.. that I have no idea how they would begin to make the story of Mass Effect 3.. I mean.. I'm known for my wide imagination.. but I'd be really impressed if Bioware made an awesome storyline for ME3

If there was a ME spin off, I would want Garrus to be the main character.

Judging from this video I think Reapers will be involved, the earth will be involved, Shepard will be the main protagonist again and from that last bit of music I'll go ahead and speculate that the main plot will resemble ME1 more so than ME2. Other than that ...

It looks really pretty, but honestly I was pretty disappointed.  It seems whenever you have an alien race doing battle with humanity, the greatest dramatic struggle always involves them finding/attaching Earth, and, frankly, in the ME universe this doesn't make much sense.  Earth matters for morale, but when you have colonies on garden planets accross the universe and Earth is over-polluted and over-crowded, hitting Earth first and ignoring the rest of the Alliance seems pretty silly.

Aso, there is the rest of the Alliance.  I liked how in the first game what was played up by some as a purely human problem was, in fact, proven to be a greater issue involving the entire universe.  This was made very clear in the end game.  In ME2, you were a human solving a decidedly human problem to save humanity.  Sure, the threat would have eventually involved the rest of the galaxy, but during the course of the game, it really was largely a human issue, which I was able to deal with because it made for a different story and gave a good reason to have Cerberus, which had been foreshadowed, play such a large role.  For ME3, I really don't want to see Shepard fighting to save humanity again , especially not while having to pull along the rest of council space grudgingly to fight a war on Earth because it would eventually spread to the rest of council spave too.  We had to do the gather allies throughout the game to fight one big battle in the end thing in ME2.  (Also DA:O)  I would prefer ME3 not to be a repeat of that, and that's what this trailer suggess it is.  Still, it looks really pretty.

You're right earth shouldn't be the final battleground. It should be the Citadel again. That was original so they should do it again instead of earth. God, I hate cliche earth battles! Moan, moan, nag, nag.

No! No bashing of Earth battles! The reapers attacking the Earth was exactly what I was hoping for! I'm starting to become seriously tired of people screaming "CLICHÉ!!!11!" as soon as a theme comes up that has not been left completely unexplored by humanity's whole history of entertainment. Also, cliché does not equal awful, or even bad. When done well, a well placed cliché can become a useful tool for emotionally engaging a player in the story of a game. Also, for the record, I couldn't see a single hint of a cliché in that video. Might have been all the awesome that got in the way, of course.

It may very well be so that most people these days have had their appreciation of entertainment damaged beyond repair by TV Tropes, but not me. I am EXCITED! And none of you are going to stop me!
