Maybe they will blow up Earth in the 1st 30 minutes. That would be awesome.

Well, I'm not sure if giving Earth the Alderaan treatment is needed but given the events in the trailer, if 9 million are dead in London alone afer just a week then we can safely assume that BILLIONS are dead planet wide after the first week which is effectively destroying the planets population, infrastructure, etc.

In a way, I find myself wishing that beating the Reapers is accomplished somehow in the first 1/2 - 3/4 of the game and the rest is spent gaining support for a galactic Marshall Plan to rebuild Earth and the end shows Earth "x" number of years later being rebuilt slowly but surely with Shepard aiding the effort with child in one arm and LI  in the other.

A bittersweet but happy ending in a way....

I posted this in another thread. Got this info from someone on this forum:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heechee

http://en.wikipedia....evelation_Space

http://en.wikipedia....stair_Reynolds)

http://en.wikipedia....er_(Saberhagen)

I don't want to spoil anything but I think people will find some very interesting stuff if they follow those links ;) Follow them at your own risk as I believe they are the inspiration of the Mass Effect storyline.

What do you guys think?

Also, I've already saved the Citadel, Eden Prime and the Council. It's time to save the Earth. No more battle on the Citadel. That was the epic fight of the first one. It's been done. Let me rally the Galaxy's and Earth's forces. According to ME lore, the Alliance and Earth are viewed as a sleeping giant because only a small percentage of Earth's population enlists for the Alliance. Time to wake Earth up :)

That is rediculous, why destroy Earth? Earth being attacked sure, but wishing to blow up your own house because that is something that hasn't happened before. Thats just not right. I will bet there will be a moral choice or two in the game like with the council and the collectors, but the destuction of earth? No way.

It will probable be more in the likes of condemming millions of people by YOUR choice, too save billions of others.

All I have to say is first, trailer looks sweet as hell. Secondly, for those folks who were saying before that we wouldnt actually be "seeing" the Reaper invasion because they were still in "dark space" I reply with "I told you so..." lol.

I mean it wouldn't be the end of humanity because there are a good bit of colonies still around in space, so there might be a good amount of humans left after the death of Earth.

Think Protheans here.  The intent has not been to kill off all advanced life (they don't go around wiping out ALL life, just wrecking life advanced to the point of using their mass effect system).  They enslave the key species during each iteration.  The Protheans, according to the story, lasted in pockets hither and yon for a couple hundred years before they were finished off entirely (enslaved entirely).  Expect the same deal here.

The intent is NOT to wipe out earth and humans, but to kill off the minimum necessary to defeat the humans and render them easy to enslave/convert/modify.

i want Shepard to pimp slap the council and show them the Reapers UP CLOSE!

This is done thus:

Council roboton:  "Ah yes, the 'Reapers' again.  Really Shepard I thought we dealt this this phantasm of yours before."
Shepard: "Alright, that's it!"  Shepard strides rapidly forward and grabs the startled sarcastic council member by the scruff of the neck and hauls him/her to the nearest window.  Shepard takes his free hand and blows a hole in the window with his M5 pistol, kicks the remaining glass out of the way, and, holding the council member by the back of the neck, rams his/her head through new hole in glass and rubs his/her face on the skin of the Reaper that is parked right outside the window.  "THERE!  Do you SEE the Reaper now?  Does it feel like a phantasm?  Well?  DOES IT?!"  Shepard, while holding council member's face smashed firmly up against the Reaper's skin turns to the remaining council members and asks, "Do any more of you require a demo?  No?  Are we finally done with the bull**** of you poo-pooing the Reapers?  Can I assume that you will finally move your butts to help me NOW THAT THE REAPERS ARE RIGHT THERE?!  Sonofa**** you people are SLOW! "  Shepard releases the council member who slides down to the floor (skin making a squeeking noise as it slides along the Reaper skin) and holds his/her head and shakes it off.

I belive the trailer was just to make clear ME3 will be more epic than ME2 or ME. I don't think it will actually occur in the final game. Probably Shepard will arrive in time on earth to get a warm supper, time to spend with a female character and then destroy the reapers before they actually can start to fight earth.

Reading the arguments and the sheer hate between one another makes me feel bad about being associated with the ME community.

I mean instead of being happy having a teaser trailer being released there are people fighting because they showed the Reapers on Earth. I mean really you guys are mad that they are on earth and we are going to be stepping foot on earth....REALLY!

I find it funny how people bash earth and how "Humans," Are boring hahahah.

This is a dang teaser trailer that was awesome and I have watched it a couple of times already but to think right when we start up the game we are going to drop into war torn Earth is asinine.

I guarantee that once the game starts it will be like ME2 and we will have a time frame before they get to the galaxy and more then likely we will have to choose which planets go down.....I know for certain the Quarian home fleet is going down in my playthrough.

The childish comments in here makes me want to visit this site less regularly.

Well said. It's funny how "Anti Human" many on this board are. I for one am very glad that Earth is going to play a major role in ME3. Seeing earth being ruined will inspire me to kick Reaper ass more that if it was the Turian homeworld for example.

With that being said, i'm sure Earth won't be the only planet to be attacked by the Reapers

well i on hand loks foward to seeing earth in ME 3 and on the other i hope that ginat mechanivla squids of domm will cause some serious damage on it cuz sorry but it is realy making me angry how in every scifi epic battles are on earth and that earth will alway  get out almost unscathed(spelling?) and how human are poor litle people bullied by other well it is porphabyl the reason why i like B5 so much.... adn let the flaming comence..or start or whatever

In order to tie story and new game mechanics Bioware has decided..
The Normandy arrives at earth to aid the battle, after a long bloody battle shepards lies broken and beaten at the tower of London...all hope is lost
-At the Illusive man's lair- "Son of a....Alright plan C *uses FTL buoy* So yeah...Conrad?"
Heh its a joke btw =) but yeah I have a thought when/if Shepard must gather his allies do you think Bioware will allow conflicts to arise and affect gameplay?
I was mainly thinking of the Rachni, i saved them from extinction but i'm guessing the council races are going to be mighty miffed at me asking for them to join forces.

For all the people ****ing about the Reaper's just flying in...

It's never really established that the only means of Reaper invasion are via the Citadel Mass Relay. The Reaper's invented the relays, so I think it's pretty conceivable that they have at least one other way of navigating the galaxy. I mean, they had to create the network at some point: how did they get out to Deep Space to create the citadel link in the first place?

More than likely, the Citadel Relay is just the fastest, most efficient and most effective way to instigate the galaxy wide harvest. I think we can assume that because this default plan has been working well for millions of years they would try hard to make it work before moving on to Plan B, thus the events of ME1. The reapers were never "Trapped," they were merely delayed.

Most people think that the Haestrom situation is how they'll get in.  I suspect they don't have a "2nd Death Star", but actually Haestrom is their plan B and is a plan that is so dangerous for the Reapers that doing it is an extreme act of desperation for them.  Perhaps they are trying to collapse Haestrom into a black hole and create a gateway that is far more crude, violent and perilous than using the citadel.

I don't think this is fair really - a lot of us ARE happy to be seeing Earth - and most of us understand why the Reapers would attack: to make their (latest?) reaper and/or to stop humanity from saving the galaxy.

That's not what most of those people I assume you're referring to are worried about.  Based on the game description, the entire game is focussed on saving Earth.  Not the galaxy.  Earth.  The first game built up the premise for the whole game - in the same way Lost established in its first episode that they had to get off the island and have an ending, ME1 established that they had to stop the Reapers from wiping out all galactic civilisation.  That's primarily what's at stake.  The whole story is about Shepard trying to stop the Reapers from doing that.  That is Shepard's raison d'etre.  It's not just about stopping them from building another reaper.

Now I know many people will argue that stopping them at Earth will mean saving the galaxy - but the problem many folk have with that is that the game will feel like we're saving Earth first, and that saving the galaxy will feel epilogueal (+100000pts for inventing new word).  I'm fine if this is just one possible playthrough of the game that's available for the renegade pro-cerberus players.  For the paragon spectres though, I think the primary, not secondary, focus should be saving the galaxy, not Earth, and that the final battle should be somewhere else, because symbolically I think this would not conflict with the original premise.  AGAIN, glad as hell that Earth is apart of it, and I completely agree that it makes it more personal - but I really hope, at LEAST for the paragon pro-galaxy players, that Earth is just an initial chapter in the game, and that saving the galaxy is the primary focus, as it was in the first game.

That's how it should be IMO  as well but we'll see how it goes in roughly a year I  guess.
